I know there are other threads on MN about this programme, but everyone on there seem to love it, whereas I am cross with myself for watching it! My only excuse is that I am up at night on nursing duties for an elderly dog in his final days and needed something to help keep me awake.

Ridiculous, utter non-credible, flawed plot
Terrible, stilted script
Awful acting from some actors
Cliche-ridden characters
Big name actors just looked embarrassed and uncommitted

God it was awful.

Is there anyone else out there who feels the same or am I alone?

I watched it Ruby because I just thought it would get better. By the time I realised it wasn't going to I was more than half way through and quitting would have been defeatist Smile

I did give up with that terrible Cobra series on Sky after two episodes. Despite the good actors that was really dreadful.

Josette77 · 25/02/2020 16:37

I loved it.

mrsbyers · 25/02/2020 16:39

I thought it was pretty average , some awful stereotyping and the ending was ridiculous

Was really disappointed with deadwater fell too - terrible last episode

Dontdisturbmenow · 25/02/2020 16:40

Very much enjoyed it until episode 6 or 7. The ending was sadly to farfetched and totally unrealistic. Pity as it started really well but there were too many loose ends and it was ever going to worked putting them all back together.

Still enjoyed it overall though.

Letthemysterybe · 25/02/2020 16:44

I tried done episode each of Safe and The Stranger. I thought they were both crap, daytime soap level drama on a grander budget. I don’t think that Britain does that kind of stuff very well. I much more prepared to watch glamorous but trashy American stuff like ‘revenge’, than I am trashy British stuff.

Dontdisturbmenow · 25/02/2020 16:45

I’m watching Unbelievable. It’s really good so far
And the ending doesn't let down. Then again, it's based on a true story so bound to be more realistic.

FizzyIce · 25/02/2020 16:47

The ending was turd but it was an easy watch .
I will not hear anything bad said about Stranger Things though .. fingers in ears

CalamityJune · 25/02/2020 16:55

I really enjoyed it. Reminded me a bit of Doctor Foster.

BeanTownNancy · 25/02/2020 17:53

Why do people watch stuff they feel is shit? What a waste of time. They can't have much else going on in their lives!

Because I honestly thought that the intriguing mystery would build up to a dramatic reveal at the end. As it was, it was like waiting hours for a bus which never turns up so in hindsight you should have just given up and walked and now you feel like a mug.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 25/02/2020 17:55

I'm on episode 5 and hoping the ending will make sense. I now see that I'm going to need hefty doses of red wine to survive it.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 25/02/2020 17:58

It was a big steaming pile of shite

theseriousmoonlight · 25/02/2020 17:58

We watched it and enjoyed it. Hiwever that might be because we live near the two main houses and know Bury and Bolton quite well so maybe we enjoyed looking for places we recognised rather than the actual storyline. We also only watch 'Cold Feet' for when they go outside...

ClubfootMaestro · 25/02/2020 18:06

It was crap but watchable crap!

I get why Katz ended up killing Heidi if things went out of control, but I didn’t get why he pulled the gun and immediately shot her. That was appalling and callous when pointing the gun at her probably would have worked.

I also wasn’t sure what the point of Suzanne hope was.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 25/02/2020 19:09

Surely the obvious thing would have been to cry a lot, apologise and explain her actions, not clam up and leave?

I thought that too. I mean, when he confronted her she was in her pj's in the house doing sod all, whats was with all the procrastinating! I thought there was going to be so much more to the fake pregnancy and why she lied, but there really wasn't. She had plenty of time to have it out with the neighbour about some stolen money.

Aberfalls · 25/02/2020 19:58

I enjoyed it but was left not understanding how the other woman who faked her pregnancy (Suzanne was it?) was involved. How did the wife come across her?

Elbbob · 25/02/2020 20:02

Thanks for starting the thread OP I was going to watch it but won't now - have wasted too much time on rubbish programmes recently!

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 25/02/2020 20:09

My dad ran a footy club and they only ever had about £60 in the funds so I was a bit Confused at that storyline on The Stranger.

dayswithaY · 25/02/2020 20:17

I learned my lesson from The Bay, Safe House, Marcella, The Lakes (and other ITV dramas starting with "The"). If by end of the first episode you think it's crap then you're usually right. I bailed on The Stranger after episode one mainly due to terrible teenage acting and dead llamas. What the hell was Jennifer Saunders thinking? Why would her daughter's entire future be ruined because she was on a Sugar Daddies website? And Dervla with her fake pregnancy cobblers? Netflix must pay well.

misskatamari · 25/02/2020 20:38

Yanbu! I was expecting it to be great after seeing so many people rave about it, but I was very underwhelmed. We had just watched Locke and Key though, which was brilliant, so I wasn't sure if I'd just been spoiled in my recent Netflix watching. Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was pants

TheNoiseHurts · 25/02/2020 20:41

It was rubbish.

The acting was atrocious.
I can't even remember why she faked her pregnancy?!

ChicChicChicChiclana · 25/02/2020 20:50

I watched all of it as I like to get to the end of something once I've put time into it. I thought it was a load of old bobbins Grin.

But perhaps the most shocking thing about it was the number of people who recommended it on another internet place I go to! I thought they were pretty discerning types but maybe I was wrong.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 25/02/2020 20:53

I think she faked the pregnancy to get her husband to re-commit to their relationship because she knew he was having an affair.

Fleurdebleurgh · 25/02/2020 21:02

Absolute shite and I'm surprised anyone thinks otherwise

Cherrysoup · 25/02/2020 21:02

The thing about that plot line for me is that Dervla Kirwan is about 50. If she were pregnant the NHS (and the Guinness book of records) would be all over her

Tell that to my mate who found out she was naturally pregnant at 50, gave her a hell of a shock! Her ds is now 11 and younger than her grandchild! At nearly 50, the obygn that took out my coil the other day has put me on the pill and gave me condoms to use until I was protected.

FoxEars · 25/02/2020 21:09

We enjoyed it but... there was a few flaws in the plot.

Firstly wtf was the alpaca and Donte' story line about?

Then cats/ pats the greasy haired detective killed Heidi ( Jennifer Saunders) and what was his reasoning for that...

Also, what was the storyline about with Olivia and her Mum having Munchasuen by Proxy... what happened there?

I found some of it too fake and silly
