What could you NOT do, even if your life depended on it?

LIGHTHEARTED

After commenting on another thread that my worst nightmare would be to have to dive underwater & resurface somewhere else. You always see it in films & they look like they’ll run out of air. Or they do it on Bushtucker Trials.

I can’t even watch it on tv / a film - gives me such anxiety. It is related to a PTSD issue, so that makes it maybe a bit more understandable, but I’m not sure I could do it, even if my life depended on it. Obviously, I’d have to try... 😬

What, if anything, would you struggle with?

Ice skating. It turned out I’m so completely uncoordinated that I couldn’t even balance to walk on the skates from a seat to the ice rink!

Throwing, catching or hitting a ball.

On the plus side I’m happy to handle any kind of snake, spider, insect or confined space for the rest of you on this thread Smile

QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 15:09

@LakieLady I am the same. Why does that happen?

@floffel don't worry, if it comes to it, I'll take one for the team 😂

@LadyMadderRose nerds are definitely welcomed - in the Walking Dead they had Eugene. 👍🏼

Walk across a rope bridge hundreds of feet up in the air. I was watching Modern Family and they went to Sydney and climbed the bridge at the harbour - good god, it was the stuff of nightmares, I I couldn't watch. Yesterday, I went to a play area with my daughter and we did the 'assault course' thing. I walked over a bridge about one foot from the ground and imagined I was hundreds of feet up. I totally made myself panic Grinwhat a wimp!

30daysoflight · 24/02/2020 15:15

Have sex with Quentin Tarantino or David Walliams. Death suddenly looks the best option Grin

QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 15:17

@30daysoflight God, imagine if they spoke! Imagine Quentin Tarantino's dirty talk 🤢🤢🤢

Underground/cramped space where I couldn’t stretch my arms or legs, OP, a bit like you. Not sure I could even if it meant death.

sunshineANDsweetpeas · 24/02/2020 15:18

Bungee jump
Scuba dive
Pot holing

I'm a bit of a wuss tbh

Funtcase95 · 24/02/2020 15:19

Eat coriander.

motortroll · 24/02/2020 15:21

Abything involving climbing up something high or jumping off something high.

And currently anywhere I needed to be very hot. I pretty much sweat all the time as it is!

Ponoka7 · 24/02/2020 15:25

Anything with heights.

Moving a crab, I'd struggle kicking it out of the way, because I don't like animal cruelty, (if say one of my grandchildren was being held hostage by the king of the crabs and had a few hench crabs guarding them).

Ponoka7 · 24/02/2020 15:28

potter5, I used to be scared of zombies. The old black and white films with them in were terrifying.

I got over it by watching modern day films and working out a strategy, after seeing how easy they are to kill.

Jaxhog · 24/02/2020 15:35

Look out of the window of a revolving restaurant again. I've done it twice (!) and had to sit in the stairwell (first time) or where I couldn't see out (second time), or be violently sick. I don't have any other motion sickness problem - not even at sea.

TheNavigator · 24/02/2020 15:36

Most of these I can cope with apart from heights. I really struggle with heights. Even being on the upper circle in the theatre makes my head swim and my legs go weak. Those films of people climbing and walking on high bridges make me ill.

Oh, heights and eating dodgy things - I have a very delicate gag reflex and couldn't keep an insect down.

Kaypee28 · 24/02/2020 15:37

Loose weight by the looks of things 🙄

DrivingMsCrazy · 24/02/2020 15:37

@Bloomburger geocaching is a bit like orienteering when you find hidden objects on hillsides etc. I think you are thinking of gorge walking? Jumping into rocky water!

Jaxhog · 24/02/2020 15:39

Or swim anywhere with.. fish. There's something deeply horrible about fish bumping into my legs. I no longer swim in the sea (or lake, river etc.) for that reason.

Lozz22 · 24/02/2020 15:40

@HavenDilemma For me it's coming off the slip road and joining onto the motorway that terrifies me. So much so that I would rather drive an extra hour just to avoid it. Or if I go see my Partner then I will catch the train instead. No road bothers him he's a Truck driver. In my 10 years of driving I've driven 5-6 times on the motorway. I'm fine once I'm on but if I was driving somewhere where I could only get to via motorway I'd have to drive in the very early hours so it was reasonably quiet.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 24/02/2020 15:41

In a zombie/dystopian type situation, anything fitness/strength related I would suck at. I couldn't outpace a zombie, I'd be doubled over gasping within 20 seconds.

But...

I am resourceful and pragmatic, I could hide and sneak really well, make a meal out of very little food or foraged stuff and I'm good at crafts/improvising things so could rig up booby traps, make clothing, blankets etc to keep us warm.

I will be hiding in a local eco house which is in walking proximity to several warehouses, food stores and camping shops as well as allotments and wooded areas.

Justnot · 24/02/2020 15:41

Reverse down a single lane country road with high hedges (in Devon during the holidays to make it worse) I am basically with my OH so he can drive on holiday and at night

The80sweregreat · 24/02/2020 15:43

Reverse the car into any space between a few cars. I'd need space. 😂
Eat fish eyes or insects etc.
Pull my self up from a hanging position high up.
Hate going under water , but I'd give it a go.
Run along anything high up.
I'm a complete coward and die an early death.

QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 15:47

@Funtcase95 today is international I hate coriander day

janemaster · 24/02/2020 15:49

In the event of a zombie apocalypse, I am hiding in the attic and hoping the army takes them all down. Otherwise I will be dead soon.

Appletreehouse · 24/02/2020 15:49

Open the door to the room on Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom which has all the bugs and spiders all over the handle. I don't know whether the actress did it in real life, presume she had a stunt double! Shock

ginghamtablecloths · 24/02/2020 15:49

Sell my body, go on stage as a stand-up comedian or sing in public. Walk into a field which had a bull in it. Walk on a tightrope.

Lipperfromchipper · 24/02/2020 15:51

I always thought caving would be horrendous but then I bit the bullet and did it... it wasn’t as BAD as I thought but I wouldn’t do it again mind!! 🙈🤣

I could NEVER Bungee jump!! The thought scares the bejesus out of me 😱
