What could you NOT do, even if your life depended on it?

LIGHTHEARTED

After commenting on another thread that my worst nightmare would be to have to dive underwater & resurface somewhere else. You always see it in films & they look like they’ll run out of air. Or they do it on Bushtucker Trials.

I can’t even watch it on tv / a film - gives me such anxiety. It is related to a PTSD issue, so that makes it maybe a bit more understandable, but I’m not sure I could do it, even if my life depended on it. Obviously, I’d have to try... 😬

What, if anything, would you struggle with?

I bloody love buttons. My button box is amazing. I'll deal with any button situations.

theoriginalmadambee · 24/02/2020 17:25

Ooh clowns Sad. I'm not afraid of them, just find them nasty and creepy. Perhaps clowns should be scared of me though, I'm sure that if they came too close, i would have go at them.

iheartislesofwight · 24/02/2020 17:27

i could never eat meat or fish, i'd rather chew on my own arm if i was literally starving to death.

janemaster · 24/02/2020 17:29

@Oysterbabe I am slightly haunted by a woman I saw interviewed after the Christmas Day Tsunami.
She found herself swept into a massive torrent of water, surrounded by bots of wood, cars, etc as she was washed away. She said she just decided, thats it, and gave up. But she survived. But her friends died in the same water. She was sure that her friend would have fought every second to stay alive.

LadyMadderRose · 24/02/2020 17:29

What's weird is how most people actually don't like clowns and they're a stalwart of horror tropes and sad stories about inner torture and pain. Whoever invented them (and anyone who actually thinks they're fun or amusing) is the odd one!

ArthurDentsSpaceTowel · 24/02/2020 17:33

I couldn't manage any situation where I would have to hit, throw or catch accurately. I do not have the correct visual equipment.

Funtcase95 · 24/02/2020 17:38

@QueenOfOversharing trust me I'm celebrating big.

janemaster · 24/02/2020 17:40

You know situations in films where people have to kill someone to defend themselves or others? I don't think I could do it.

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 24/02/2020 17:41

I think I'd rather kill someone than eating a live spider. Ideally with a gun, you are further away, a knife must be horribly tricky.

I wouldn't have survived ANY of the saw movies let's be honest.

Growingboys · 24/02/2020 17:43

Use chopsticks. I just can't do it. I have tried for years, bought baby ones, practised every single night.

Just. Can't. Do. It

pinboard · 24/02/2020 17:44

Spudlet yes that makes perfect sense, thank you.

It just seems clear to me that once we have offspring we want to not only protect them but protect ourselves a little more so we are around to protect them, iyswim?

So, flinging yourself in front of a car to save toddler makes sense, but so does then stopping skydiving / caving / shark diving etc so you can be there to fling in front of car if necess?

The spider thing is totally different, of course ;)

thegrassisgreenernow · 24/02/2020 17:46

China Glass Bridge

Terrifying. But (shamefully) very very funny.

I'm petrified by virtually everything everyone has mentioned. Sewing badly I could just about do, if a zombie was after me, though would be very scared whilst doing so.

AlunWynsKnee · 24/02/2020 17:50

Heights are my biggest weakness. I was never great but it really lurched into OCD territory once I had dc. I can only get 3 or 4 steps up a ladder before I go wobbly.
Also no upper body strength, one of my legs doesn't work 100% anymore and although I can deal with my own sick even the noise of anyone else being sick sets me off.
I can deal with snakes though so don't be feeding me to the Zombies unless all the snakes are definitely gone.

TowerRingInferno · 24/02/2020 17:52

Public speaking
Theme park ride
Eat rice pudding
Swim

OhTheRoses · 24/02/2020 17:52

Climb a rope
Walk a parapet
Walk across stones or pebbles
Vault anything
Deal with fierce dogs

......but then if it involved saving one of my children, or a child, I reckon I'd find it from somewhere.

Popetthetreehugger · 24/02/2020 17:53

Just adding name to long list of drivers who would do anything to avoid motorway driving . I don't even like being driven on one ! Iv spent enough on therapy to hire a bloody chauffeur 😳 it's the lorries and the speed that gives me the Heebie-jeebies .

Growingboys · 24/02/2020 17:54

I tried holding my breath too @Lazydaisydaydream and I only got to 47 seconds!

Going to make it my life's mission to get to a minute!

TheValeyard · 24/02/2020 17:55

Eat tuna.
Not turn my head the second someone says "don't look"
Stay awake for the entire duration of a Harry Potter film.
Not sure through the entirety of the "Ham Radio" episode of Frasier when it comes on C4

JustForTheTasteOfIt · 24/02/2020 17:56

Eat a plate of mushrooms.

You could Fuck. Right. Off.

I feel sick just thinking about it so if it ruins my dinner I'm blaming you Grin

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 24/02/2020 18:02

@fairnotfair mine is from Indiana Jones too: the bit where Kate capshaw outs her hand in the hole to pull the lever... But it is full of huge bugs.

Also climbing trees. Couldn't climb one to get out of the path of a huge rhino Blush reading this thread, i think it is prob to do with upper-body strength

floffel · 24/02/2020 18:04

@QueenOfOversharing - I’d gladly let you take that!

Seriously though, I’m the only poster who mentioned blow jobs! I did put my prude disclaimer on but now wondering if I should be seeking therapy?????

IronShame · 24/02/2020 18:06

Swimming with sharks. Nopeeeeeeee. I would literally die of panic before I even got in the water. Hate the soulless fucking things.

Shudder

The thought of my legs dangling in deep water and something swimming underneath me and then eventually dragging me down literally takes my breath away, not in a good way. My legs actually feel tingly and jelly-like just thinking about it!

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 24/02/2020 18:06

@Appletreehouse THIS Shock

QueenOfOversharing · 24/02/2020 18:21

@floffel haha. Food for thought 🤔

@thegrassisgreenernow

Oooh, that cracking effect on the bridge is EVIL!!!

(how much are people hamming it up later though? I dont see anyone losing bladder control, which I suspect I would - eeek!)
