To discount the views of anyone who uses the word sheepie?

As soon as I hear or read someone say something like, you are all just sheepie, I just ignore the views of that person. I know people have very different views. That does not mean they have not thought about them, even if I think they are totally wrong. Calling people sheepies is basically saying you are stupid and have not thought about this.

Don't you mean sheeple?

icannotremember · 24/02/2020 09:43

You mean "sheeple", right?

Idk, it's not my favourite phrase but it doesn't raise my hackles either.

janemaster · 24/02/2020 09:44

Sheeple? I have never heard of that. No I mean sheep with an ie on the end.

OP posts:
PositiveVibez · 24/02/2020 09:45

It's sheeple - to rhyme with people. People who are sheep.

ConstanceSalinger · 24/02/2020 09:46

Is this something you come across often?

Perhaps you should take it up with the person saying it rather than us?

FizzyIce · 24/02/2020 09:46

Definitely Sheeple

janemaster · 24/02/2020 09:46

Oh! I honestly thought it was sheepie.

Lol

RUSU92 · 24/02/2020 09:47

I’ve never seen sheepie - I’ve seen people called sheeple (cross between sheep and people) and yes it’s a stupid short hand like snowflake or boomer that people use to put you down based on your views.

Oysterbabe · 24/02/2020 09:48

It's not Sheepie, you've been saying it wrong. It's a mix of sheep and people.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 24/02/2020 09:48

In what context are the using sheepie? The usual word is sheeple suggesting people are blindly following the herd like sheep being driven by a sheepdog.

AgentPrentiss · 24/02/2020 09:50

Lol. It’s definitely sheeple.

Rosalo · 24/02/2020 09:52

Hahaha I prefer sheepie.

AutumnCrow · 24/02/2020 09:54

Well you can't have 'heard' it then. And you've read it wrong.

That being said, 'sheeple' is an annoying word, yes. The person using it is probably as intellectually lazy as the people s/he is accusing, maybe more so.

janemaster · 24/02/2020 09:58

I have heard it used and I am absolutely sure they said sheepie. When I have seen it written down as sheeple, I thought it was a typo.

HulksPurplePanties · 24/02/2020 09:58

I would certainly question the intelligence of any adult who used the word sheepie in a discussion/debate.

However, if they use the term sheeple I would not necessarily discount their beliefs so much as believe there's no point in debating them.

Oysterbabe · 24/02/2020 10:08

Well this is embarrassing for you.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 24/02/2020 10:14

Bloody sheepies.

janemaster · 24/02/2020 10:16

@Oysterbabe I know Grin
But next time I hear my relative say sheepie I will say something. I will have to ask DP about this. Maybe everyone else knows it is sheeple and just cannot be bothered to point this out to him?

OP posts:
CendrillonSings · 24/02/2020 10:18

Are you feeling a bit sheepie-ish now, OP? Wink

Notso · 24/02/2020 10:18
Grin

I've only ever read it, it does make me eye roll though. Same with snowflake.

recrudescence · 24/02/2020 10:27

It would be a good name for a pet sheep.

Sunshineand · 24/02/2020 10:32

Well you've answered your own question because now you know the word doesn't exist 🙈

LaMarschallin · 24/02/2020 10:32

I will have to ask DP about this. Maybe everyone else knows it is sheeple and just cannot be bothered to point this out to him?

They probably don't want to make him feel embarrassed about being wrong.

So, is DP the mystery person/relative or is he just likely to know the definitive answer?

LaMarschallin · 24/02/2020 10:34

Calling people sheepies is basically saying you are stupid and have not thought about this.

Just a couple of other thoughts: have you heard/seen this term used a lot? And was it being used about anyone in particular?
