Lounging in pyjamas - disgusts me. AIBU

Hi, so just after opions. So, apart from Christmas, I really don't like my children lounging in the house in their pyjamas - it's a real bug bear or mine. So, it's half term and my SS is staying with us. My bio kids are up, fed and dressed by 8.30. SS is older so wakes at 10am (I have no problem with that) but his dad has no problem with him staying in pyjamas until after mid-day. I think it sets a lazy precedent and personally find it quite disgusting. AIBU? Bit too extreme?

I’m with MNHQ

And I’m in a part of the global timezone where pjs are seriously not at all controversial at this point of the clockface. Grin

Otherwise I’m all for ‘real’ clothes for the whole household in the daytime, unless someone is sick. Daytime being roundly 9am to roundly 7pm.

I'm with you. It is just slovenly.

Knittedfairies · 20/02/2020 12:04

Move up on that high horse OP, because I'm not keen either. Not 'disgusted' though.

anotherlittlechicken · 20/02/2020 12:04

@Mumoflil1

YABVVVVVVVVVVVVU.

I spend all day in my jammies, (when I'm not going out,) and even walk down to the post box in my jammie bottoms (and t-shirt,) occasionally. And even though I'm 'working class' (LOL) my lovely upper-middle class friend who lives in a WAY more fancy house than me (in my village,) walks to the little village shop (5-6 minutes walk from her house,) in her jammies and dressing gown!

Nothing wrong with it, and only the biggest 'Hyacinth Bucket, desperate-to-be-middle-classes' sneer at it.'

I was just putting a question out there.

Yeah right. Of COURSE you were! Wink I don't know why I'm bothering to respond actually, as you are clearly just here to cause ructions, and to wind people up with your swipes and digs and stupid grinning smilies..., so crack on lass. Grin

And like a few others, me and DH ALSO sleep naked, so don't sleep in our jammies anyway!

"What an utter waste of life"

^What an utter twat that wrote that!

HoppingPavlova · 20/02/2020 12:04

In the school holidays I would have been thankful if my teenagers/young adults at uni were out of bed before noon let alone in pj’s or notConfused. Unless you are running a military academy i’d probably just let it be.

I also don’t set the best example. On weekends I don’t get out of my pj’s until I HAVE to. That means if I can get away without having to leave the house before 3pm then I’ll stay in pj’s until 2.30pm then jump in the shower and get changed. I also take the earliest opportunity to get into pj’s of an evening. If I am finished with the day and it’s 5pm I will jump into a pair. So much more comfy than clothes. I also wear them when I am chauffeuring everyone around if o don’t have to get out of the car. If I have an accident and have to get out I’ll be stuffed but it’s a risk I’m willing to take Grin.

Chipsahoy · 20/02/2020 12:07

Oh no. I'm one of these mums! I will think now before I ask then to get dressed, are we going anywhere, if not does it matter?

Today and yesterday and tomorrow we had /have to be out for 9, the other days they slept in for a while and then had breakfast and I simply said "OK time to get dressed" and they did, no bother. Is it a big deal?

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 20/02/2020 12:07

Chill out before you drive yourself to an early grave. You’re either a control freak or dislike your step son.

Breathe and learn to go with the flow.

PooWillyBumBum · 20/02/2020 12:07

Reading this 41 weeks pregnant, butt naked and sprawled across my bed like a Lucien Freud painting. Usually I work 40-50 hour weeks and am running around like mad. I don’t think a PJ day harms anyone. When not pregnant I usually do one once every 6 months or so (usually after a big night...) and DD will join in! I’m not generally a lazy person.

Firelink · 20/02/2020 12:07

Always feel it is a bit council housey/ chavvy when people can't be arsed to get dressed. Totally unacceptable in our leafy commu ity.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 20/02/2020 12:08

I'm back in my pajamas now and under a blanket on the sofa, I'm the epitome of laziness and it feels great🤣

I've been dressed but got changed when plans were cancelled and I no longer need to go out.

I work 50 hours or more most weeks and hit the wall at the beginning of this week so cancelled my extra shifts booked and I'm making the most of my time off. Pyjamas and crochet, how disgusting am I😳

Pardonwhat · 20/02/2020 12:09

You had me for a second there Grin

Do you live in a commune or on kibbutz? Otherwise how would you know how everyone dresses every minute of their day? Margot in number 46 may be in her negligee waiting for the gardener. Roger at 22 is currently dressed as Basil Brush complete with fox tail butt plug.

speakout · 20/02/2020 12:10

I don't like adults lounging in pjs, but ok with kids.

vodkaredbullgirl · 20/02/2020 12:10

Nice 1 firelink very funny

PleaseStopCallingMe · 20/02/2020 12:10

I spend my life in loungewear but when I lived in Russia it was a huge no-no; you change out of PJs the moment you get up (no breakfast in PJs etc) and the concept of getting changed into your jammies to snuggle up for a film in the evening was considered disgusting. You wear pyjamas to sleep in - that is it.

Arthritica · 20/02/2020 12:11

It's 12:10 on a Thursday. I'm full of cold, I have a fever and I'm in my PJs.

Sod it. Sometimes you need to take it ewasy, OP

anotherlittlechicken · 20/02/2020 12:12

@Firelink

Always feel it is a bit council housey/ chavvy when people can't be arsed to get dressed. Totally unacceptable in our leafy community.

Only unacceptable to those who are desperate to prove they are middle class. Wink

As I said, my lovely upper middle class friend in her fancy house in my upper middle class village walks to the shop (5-6 minutes walk from her house,) in her dressing gown.

You sound like Hyacinth Bucket LOL!

DesLynamsMoustache · 20/02/2020 12:13

Oh god another PJs thread. These never go well.

But yes YABVU. Lounging in PJs is the best. The ultimate life goal is to get up, have a shower, then get changed into some fresh PJs to spend the day in. Bliss.

Yellredder · 20/02/2020 12:13

I don't like lounging in my pyjamas, so I don't! Daughter likes it, so she does!

Chickychickydodah · 20/02/2020 12:14

Life is too short to be fussing over something so trivial , get over yourself...

InOtterNews · 20/02/2020 12:14

I have a PJ day at least once a month. I have to get up every day for work so one day a month it's glorious to not have to get dressed - on the basis I don't have to interact with anyone apart from takeaway delivery driver

Even when I work at home I get dressed. I would never leave the house in PJs though. I've only recently got my first pair of joggers - I don't leave the house in those either.

Everyone deserves to have a PJ day imho

Firelink · 20/02/2020 12:14

Richaaaaard!!!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 20/02/2020 12:15

My day is still in his pjs now.He woke at.10.15am and can do whatever he likes as its half term.
