To give my DDs this for dinner? Pic attached

I know it’s nothing bad on their plate but it’s not a hot meal and i don’t know much about nutrition. I know there is obviously veg, whole meal bread which i know is better. Then tuna which I’m sure is healthy and olives etc.

My DDs love this sort of meal with lots of different things on their plate and ask me to give them this often but I feel lazy giving them something that hardly requires any prep.

Is this nutritious enough for an evening meal?

YABU - I shouldn’t be giving them that for dinner

YANBU - it’s perfectly fine

It’s perfectly fine.

00100001 · 14/02/2020 17:35

It's food. Therefore it's perfectly fine!

You know how they say with babies and the breast milk Vs formula debate that "Fed is best"?

Same thing applies!!!

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 14/02/2020 17:36

Protein, carb and veg. Perfect meal!

pastapestoparmesan · 14/02/2020 17:37

Looks delicious, can I come round for tea?

simonisnotme · 14/02/2020 17:37

its fine, and if thats what they want and will eat it its nobodies business but yours, food is food
no point in cooking for hours and they wont eat it

MartyrGuacamole · 14/02/2020 17:38

My dc have stuff like this all the time, they love it. It's balanced and as long they're full after then why not. My daughter tonight is having similar tonight but with shrimp and egg noodles :)

TWD89 · 14/02/2020 17:38

Quite a large portion for a three year old but looks tasty and nutritious, id definitely eat it. I love picky food!

LettuceP · 14/02/2020 17:38

That's a fancy lazy dinner! My DS is currently eating cheese spread on toast and cherry tomatoes for his dinner because dd is out for dinner and I'm not hungry so no point in cooking. I was going to do him some scrambled egg as well but it was too much effort Grin

Namechange8471 · 14/02/2020 17:38

Yes it’s fine, wish mine would of ate that food at that age! (beige baby 🙄)

MiniGuinness · 14/02/2020 17:39

It is perfectly fine nutrition wise. I think it could cause some kids to be picky eaters though, my nephew still eats like that in his teens. We call it “baby tea”.

Are you serious? Why would it be healthier hot? If you honestly think that might be the case then bung it in the microwave, or in a pan and give it a stir.
Or do you really think tuna, pasta and veg is nutritionally terrible?

ironicname · 14/02/2020 17:40

Lots of choice! It does look as if you're trying to use up food for fridge space! Grin

BigFatLiar · 14/02/2020 17:41

Looks ok.

WitchSharkadder · 14/02/2020 17:41

I do similar for my DCs fairly regularly, OP.

It's nutritious, quick, easy & they all eat it without argument. What's not to like.

peanutbuttermarmite · 14/02/2020 17:41

Looks fine to me, I also recommend training them to eat falafel as another quick dinner. You can also buy cooked chicken in case they get bored of tuna, my dd loved that cooked chicken tikka in Sainsbury’s.

Another winner - bruschetta. If you’ve got red peppers and cucumbers in your fridge that’s always an easy 2 veg to add to any meal.

peanutbuttermarmite · 14/02/2020 17:42

Yes 4 servings of veg there, protein, fibre and carbs = winner.

Teateaandmoretea · 14/02/2020 17:42

Is this some kind of stealth boast that your 3yo will eat olives, whole meal bread and salad. Plus tuna mixed with sweet corn?

Because you 'know nothing about nutrition' rofl.

WorraLiberty · 14/02/2020 17:43

Looks fine to me.

I'm surprised that you don't know much about nutrition when you have a 3 and 6yr old. There's lots of information out there.

Food doesn't have to be warm to be enjoyed.

HairyFloppins · 14/02/2020 17:43

Looks lovely. I would eat that for my tea.

EverythingsEasy · 14/02/2020 17:44

That’s my 6 year olds plate. My 3 year old had the same minus the tomatoes and olives Grin

It's fine - hardly a fag and a can of Special Brew Grin

lazylinguist · 14/02/2020 17:46

I don't see what the temperature of the food has to do with its healthiness. Confused
