Guest left clothing - wash or not?

Posting for traffic... and will garner whether I was being unreasonable or not by the replies.

Name changed as I'd prefer this wasn't linked to my other threads.

Had a friend stay over at the weekend. They informed me hours after they left they'd left an item of clothing behind. Didn't realise they'd left it but after looking for it I found it so told them I had done so.

They asked if I could post it, I said sure... so put it in the post the next day.

The day after I got a text thanking me for the 'worn' item.

My question is... should I have laundered it before returning? This item was bright red btw, and first wear so I'm damned to risk dying my own washing pink! And I'm not doing 'dark' washing again until the weekend.

I've not replied to the text - they've got their clothing but how the fuck should I reply?!

Duh, some red items can dye washing. Surely it's not hard to realise this?

What do you mean 'duh'? Did you miss the put 'like for like' part of my post you quoted?

Itwasntme1 · 12/02/2020 21:38

It was rude of them to comment. But I would have put them through the wash - can’t imagine posting dirty underwear🤢

PlumsGalore · 12/02/2020 21:40

Yup CF, for expecting you to wash, post and then chastising you for not doing so. Dirty bitch.

onionface · 12/02/2020 21:40

I wouldn't have washed it. And I wouldn't have wanted something of mine washed by anyone else either, I have eczema and other people's washing powder irritates it.

EuroMillionsWinner · 12/02/2020 21:41

Did you miss the put 'like for like' part of my post you quoted?

Did you miss the part where she said she had no like/dark clothes to wash for at least a week so would have had to do a wash with one item in it? Plus put the dryer on to dry it as they wanted it posted back the same day? Plenty of people don't have the funds for that.

OP, when you don't call out rude pithy PA shit like this they'll do it again.

Crunchymum · 12/02/2020 21:41

Who is going to wash a red item with whites / lights? (Which is how you end up with pink washing?) @EuroMillionsWinner

zasknbg · 12/02/2020 21:42

Friend=Weirdo
Yanbu

smashstore · 12/02/2020 21:44

OP, when you don't call out rude pithy PA shit like this they'll do it again.

I wasn't doing any of those things fgs. If anyone has been rude it was you. I simply said wash like for like and it won't dye the other washing. Whatever your problem is I suggest you go try fix it, it isn't me.

EstebanTheMagnificent · 12/02/2020 21:46

The person didn't have it on for long

Ah - was an activity with you the reason why the underwear was removed...?

SnoozyLou · 12/02/2020 21:47

I'd be embarrassed enough to start with, let alone complaining you hadn't washed my dirty clothes, and underwear at that.

No, you shouldn't have washed it. I wouldn't have an answer to that, so I'd say nothing.

MsWasher · 12/02/2020 21:49

Thanks everyone for your replies.

For a bit of context, I'm female.. the guy that left his brand new (Armani) pants behind I proper fancy.

But they're red! I did my light washing on Sunday before I learnt he'd left them behind... and Jesus I'm not gonna go boring him with my laundry routine am I?!

And yeah he weren't round mine long before they came off 🙈

I just think it's rude the way he chucked the word 'worn' in.... which is why I'm asking opinions of others I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️

You do appear to have a slight problem with reading comprehension, @smashstore

FancyPants20 · 12/02/2020 21:53

Could he have been making a joke about how little time they were actually worn for?

If not, fuck him off. He's a knob.

smashstore · 12/02/2020 21:53

You do appear to have a slight problem with reading comprehension, @smashstore**

Indeed. However that doesn't make me pithy, PA or rude.

EstebanTheMagnificent · 12/02/2020 21:54

Maybe he wasn’t being snarky? Maybe he thought you’d worn them as a slightly kinky thing?

FancyPants20 · 12/02/2020 21:54

She was talking to the OP, not you.

Dieu · 12/02/2020 21:56

I don't think they were implying that the OP had worn the item. More that she hadn't washed it. But it's cheeky and odd either way!

ShirleyPhallus · 12/02/2020 21:57

Are you sure he was being salty? I’d have read it like “sorry you had to return my worn underwear but thanks” rather than “I expected you to launder my undergarments, peasant”

Perhaps he is flirting with you....

damnthatanxiety · 12/02/2020 21:57

You say he's a friend. Are you planning on seeing him again? Does he only have 1 pair of pants? Why couldn't he just collect them next time he saw you?

MsWasher · 12/02/2020 21:57

See I don't know how to take his reply tbh... which is why I posted. I wanted to get others' opinions.

I've still not replied from yesterday but am completely baffled how I would do 🤷🏼‍♀️

OP posts:
JustAnouk · 12/02/2020 21:58

If he was seriously having a crack at you for not having washed his dacks, I’d be giving him a big miss from now on.

It’s hard to tell with text though. But it doesn’t look good.

Dieu · 12/02/2020 21:58

I've just seen that it was underwear. Sending dirty pants is gross - sorry.

smashstore · 12/02/2020 21:58

Ohhhj. I definitely missed that. It came under a quote and post re that quite so I don't spot the difference at all.

I'm so sorry Blush

But yeah, I do have problems with comprehension and often read things incorrectly or miss them completely.

OopsPregnantAgain · 12/02/2020 21:58

I agree with @ShirleyPhallus

& how on earth did he manage to leave without them? Do you think he did it on purpose?

smashstore · 12/02/2020 21:59

It's weird that he wanted you to post them to him tbh. He couldn't have collected them next time?
