...to have a little nap in the work toilets?

I am at work and so tired (ds woke at 4.30 ffs!). I am not officially on work time - my working day is over and I am staying around to do some catching up as I am going out tonight with old friend so no time to go home first plus would disrupt dh doing dinner for kids etc. There are no empty offices. The staff room has armchairs but I would be embarrassed to be caught snoring by colleagues. Only room where I could feasibly have half hour power nap in on one of the very spacious toilet cubicles. There are plenty so I wouldn't be blocking anyone from using loo. They are pretty clean too.

I have done this before Blush so no judgement from me!

Iwantadog1989 · 12/02/2020 16:57

Do it

Orchidflower1 · 12/02/2020 17:00

Why not just rearrange the friend and go home and have an early night.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with napping in the loo other than it a bit of a grim place. plus if you snore will people think you’ve got terrible wind 🤪!?!

YgritteSnow · 12/02/2020 17:01

I have done this more than once.

FreyaMountstuart · 12/02/2020 17:01

Doesn’t everybody?

Astella22 · 12/02/2020 17:05

YANBU at all

Apocketfulofposies · 12/02/2020 17:10

@orchidflower1 because then I would have to help with dinner, bath and bed.

Building closes at 6 so I reckon a catnap at 5.30.

Go for it. Just set an alarm so you don’t get locked in for the night!

Nat6999 · 12/02/2020 17:22

I used to have a power nap at work in the toilets when I was working & on some pretty strong pain relief for my Fibromyalgia. I had a part of the day when I was bobbing between departments delivering mail & nobody really knew where I was, I used to disappear in the toilets on a floor where there weren't any offices for a 10 minute nap, never got caught & having that 10 minutes helped me get through the day.

Knitwit99 · 12/02/2020 17:23

Been asleep in the work toilets many a time. Do you want one of us to phone you at 5.55 so you don't get locked in? That would be my biggest worry.

fabulousathome · 12/02/2020 17:32

Don't fall off the loo.

Doesn't sound very comfy. Is there a hotel lobby nearby or coffee shop with sofas?

RedPandaFluff · 12/02/2020 17:36

Oh god this reminds me of when I was heavily pregnant and exhausted! I longed to curl up on the floor of the work loos - the only thing that stopped me was the lack of space!

I say do it Grin

crimsonlake · 12/02/2020 17:40

How on earth do you sleep in a toilet?

QuestionableMouse · 12/02/2020 17:40

I used to go out to my car during my break but if you have loos then go for it. Maybe put a coat down or something so you're not sitting directly on the floor.

actiongirl1978 · 12/02/2020 17:41

I used to sleep in the loos for a 5 min powernap in a very posh set of office toilets in the early 2000's in London.

There were no loo lids so I used to sit at the other end of the cubicle on my pashmina, set my alarm and sleep.

Got me through many dull afternoons!

Go for it!

shinyredbus · 12/02/2020 17:43

I did it - loads when I was pregnant and the sick bay was used.

Likefootball · 12/02/2020 17:44

Toilets are not really the place to sleep are they ?

katkit · 12/02/2020 17:48

I do it in the work shower room.

roarfeckingroar · 12/02/2020 17:49

I used to do this at my old job. I was exhausted partly because I was miserable there so I would go to a seldom used one and snooze. Helps if you leave the office with a laptop/notebook walking with intent like you really have somewhere to be.

Glitteryone · 12/02/2020 17:51

Id rather nap in my car

ZaraW · 12/02/2020 17:52

Given the choice of a staff room with armchairs or a toilet there's no competition. Armchairs win.

damnthatanxiety · 12/02/2020 17:52

Fell asleep once in the loo at a night club. I thought I had nodded off for a couple of minutes but woke to find the evening over, club closed, lights on and cleaners bustling about!

ReflectiveGingernut · 12/02/2020 17:54

How is 5 or 10 minutes going to make a difference? By the time you faff about getting comfy and laying down, it'll be time to get up again.

actiongirl1978 · 12/02/2020 17:55

5 mins is all you need. Takes the edge off.

However I can sleep anywhere and fall asleep in seconds.

cheesewitheverything · 12/02/2020 17:59

I'm full of admiration for the ability you lot have for sleeping in unlikely places. Even when I'm totally exhausted I have to be comfy, everywhere silent and totally dark. Or maybe I've never been as tired as you!
