...to have a little nap in the work toilets?

I am at work and so tired (ds woke at 4.30 ffs!). I am not officially on work time - my working day is over and I am staying around to do some catching up as I am going out tonight with old friend so no time to go home first plus would disrupt dh doing dinner for kids etc. There are no empty offices. The staff room has armchairs but I would be embarrassed to be caught snoring by colleagues. Only room where I could feasibly have half hour power nap in on one of the very spacious toilet cubicles. There are plenty so I wouldn't be blocking anyone from using loo. They are pretty clean too.

Omg it was amazing I set alarm for 25 mins but woke a couple of mins beforehand by the lights turning on (sensor operated when someone came in). Cubicles v large so lay on my coat head by wall not by loo and chunky scarf as pillow. Only problem is it was cold and I woke up freezing. Feel revitalised now though.

I definitely never ever fell forward and head butted the door doing this.

Dieu · 12/02/2020 18:37

I could sleep on a knife edge, but have yet to sleep on a loo Grin

Blackandgreenteas · 12/02/2020 18:41

Used to do it at my old work but in our new building the door doesn’t reach the floor!

heidbuttsupper · 12/02/2020 18:42

I used to do this at lunch times some days. I had my own office so locked the door and went under my desk Grin

ALongHardWinter · 12/02/2020 18:43

Well,I am full of admiration and jealousy that you can fall asleep in a toilet cubicle OP! Regardless of how spacious it was, there is no way I could fall asleep in one, unless I'd been sleep-deprived for a week. I have enough trouble dropping off in my bed all tucked up nice and cosy, let alone in a toilet cubicle!

TheBluestEye · 12/02/2020 18:46

I do this every now and then. Some people have a fag break, coffee break, nip to the shop etc. I have a 5 minute power nap in the loo.

Apocketfulofposies · 12/02/2020 18:51

@ALongHardWinter I have been sleep deprived for a decade (but this week particularly bad...)

One of my (more eccentric) bosses caught me yawning once and sent me to the sofa for a nap. He does it quite a lot and is very much of the opinion that there is no use fighting it when you're tired!

Brazi103 · 12/02/2020 19:00

I am very intrigued by the layout of this cubicle op.
I used to do this is my car. I actually set up the backseat with a blanket and pillow. Omg I had the most amazing naps and felt a second rush of energy for the rest of the day.
I stopped this when I overslept and woke up with those tell tale sleep Mark's on my face. Lucky for me it was a quiet day and nobody noticed, they assumed I was in a meeting Blush

Wilmalovescake · 12/02/2020 19:02

Never slept in a loo cubicle, I did read a whole novel in one once though, and I have slept in the first aid room and on the backseat of my car during my lunch break.

BigRedBoat · 12/02/2020 19:03

I hope your office is super clean OP, I wouldn't fancy laying on the toilet floor at my work!

Orchidflower1 · 12/02/2020 20:46

@Apocketfulofposies glad you enjoyed the nap.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 12/02/2020 21:08

I used to often do this I set the alarm for 10 minutes

They were very clean nice toilets I would pull the seat lid down and sit resting my head on my hands

Sadly toilets are not suitable for sleeping in where I work now

I can sleep absolutely anywhere 😁 even had a nap at an oasis concert

madcatladyforever · 12/02/2020 21:12

I've done it too but I can't anymore thanks to my sleep apnoea, rthey would hear the old hog snoring in the next building.

PlomBear · 12/02/2020 21:13

I used to sleep in the stationery cupboard.

I once had a job where I had my own office and used to have a nap.

Clangus00 · 12/02/2020 21:20

Yep done this too.

ScreamedAtTheMichelangelo · 12/02/2020 22:02

I am in awe of you all. I don’t even like to be in the toilets where I work, let alone sleep in them!

One of my bosses where I used to work used to nap in his chair in the middle of the office. No shame whatsoever. Grin

PixieDustt · 12/02/2020 22:18

I used to sleep in the staff room on my lunch break whilst pregnant with DS. About 10 colleagues all together and no one minded one bit. One even put a blanket on me at one point! 🤣

TimeMarchesOnNeverEnding · 12/02/2020 22:23

I've done many a micro-sleep on a toilet at work and that was before kids. Head on the loo roll container sometimes works well....

happinessischocolate · 12/02/2020 22:26

I used to have a nap at my desk during lunch break, my colleague would tap me on the head with her ruler when lunch break was finished 😁

I've also had power naps in the toilet in other previous jobs, can't do it in this job as there's only one loo, they'd be a queue outside the door after 10 minutes. I've never laid on the floor though, just sit in the loo with my head in my hands and nod off 😴

Ontheboardwalk · 12/02/2020 22:32

I’d be worried about doing that loud snorting noise I make when falling asleep but still awake on the sofa.

Having a kip in the car is genius, I need to try this

Great diagram!
(I may have had a little nap or three actually sitting on the loo. Iin a past life.)

Cauliflowerpower · 12/02/2020 22:44

Amazeballs. A nap in the loos is all that got me through going back to work after mat leave
