Hay...

Listening to the wind just starting to pick up here in Suffolk.

Is it bad where you are?

My plan was to drive an hour to spend day with my lovely DDIL and DGS then jump on train to see DD and DGSs I'm sadly wondering if I'm daft ? Anyone driven on 127 this morning?

Jenasaurus · 09/02/2020 08:31

Sounded like a siren!

Feelingfestivenow · 09/02/2020 08:31

Very strong wind and rain all night, been awake for most of it, can hear the tiles lifting as well but we are quite exposed up North.

Looking grim outside cannot even light the fire due to the backdraft from the chimney.

I am really tired.......

Jenasaurus · 09/02/2020 08:32

I am going to venture out to the local shop for milk, its a little windy but nothing that will keep me from my coffee and cornflakes :)

Looobyloo · 09/02/2020 08:32

Just run a mile in West Yorkshire and it's pretty bad but not as bad as I'd expected. Was soaked to the skin after 10mins, certainly wouldn't run any further for fear of UFO

Charlie97 · 09/02/2020 08:32

Oh dear @Jenasaurus I wonder if it will affect flights! Stay safe.

hannah1992 · 09/02/2020 08:32

Im in south Yorkshire and the wind is awful. A few trees have snapped locally. It's raining but badly at tw moment.

mildlymiffed · 09/02/2020 08:32

@Jenasaurus I'm also quite near Gatwick. I'm looking out the window and it's v blustery here. Can hear the little parakeets who are not happy! Chirruping away. Question is... is it set to get worse? If so I'll go and collect my son now from his sleepover!

NearlyGranny · 09/02/2020 08:33

Far west - Cornwall - wind was picking up late last night and it's buffeting around and raining this morning. I'll get a look at the sea when I go out in a bit and report back!

NoWordForFluffy · 09/02/2020 08:35

NW coast here.

The wind started to pick up after lunch yesterday and was quite strong by 6-7pm. I'm not sure when the rain started, but it's been stormy overnight and is quite bad now still, though the rain seems to be lessening.

It sounded really eerie when I woke up just before 7.

It's often 40mph+ winds here but this is definitely a level above that.

JoyceDivision · 09/02/2020 08:35

Looobyloo I'm in w.yorks, I was planning to go for a (very small!) run this morning, being soaked not a bother but risk for being clonked by a flying object has put me right off!

Yehdivvy · 09/02/2020 08:35

Really bad here, staying with relatives in Kent for the weekend. Trains from local trains station to London cancelled. Very strong winds here battering everything, hardly slept last night.

ElloBrian · 09/02/2020 08:36

Well I’ve been out and put the bins on their sides and secured various bits and bobs on the decking. Next door but one’s annoying gazebo which they use as a semi permanent structure has fallen over, hoorah. Wind is getting up quite a bit now, no rain yet though.

BananaLeafLady · 09/02/2020 08:36

South Wales coast here. Right on the coast. It's windy and quite gusty but not awful. Nothing as bad as anticipated. If it hadnt been for all the warnings i would jusy thinknit was a normal February stormy day.
It might have rained but I've slept through it if it did.

butterpuffed · 09/02/2020 08:37

Kent coast here. Very very windy. Am a minute from the beach, not looking forward to high tide.

cptartapp · 09/02/2020 08:37

Howling in Lancashire. The garden and fields are flooding, so much rain.

Defenestratethecat · 09/02/2020 08:39

SE Scotland - it’s poured with rain for 12 hours but not nearly as windy as forecast. It was far worse last Monday - thought we were going to lose the roof at one point.

Techway · 09/02/2020 08:41

Was due to go out today but cant see it happening...there has been no let up for hours and the forecast is for stronger winds today. I feels scary

Peanutbutterbean · 09/02/2020 08:42

I have to drive 3 hours today. Great.

LakieLady · 09/02/2020 08:43

@Charlie97, I'm in East Sussex too, and it's proper wild.

Mind you, we're up high and in quite an exposed position, so even on the stillest day we get a gentle breeze. When the wind's strong, we really notice it.

We used to get regular power cuts in windy weather, but they put in a new sub-station a few years ago and the leccy has been much more reliable since then.

Dhalandchips · 09/02/2020 08:43

I'm driving from Ipswich to Reading, a bit scared!

shortytrekker · 09/02/2020 08:43

@decembersnow Village with overhead power cables here too, which often get disrupted by wind. Flasks full at the ready!

HandsOffMyLangCleg · 09/02/2020 08:43

I'm about as far in land as it gets (Birmingham) and we've taken a battering all night - no signs of letting up either.

NemophilistRebel · 09/02/2020 08:44

Roads outside are so quiet
It’s usually a very busy road

I can feel the wind coming through the front door

It’s a composite rock door Shock

The cypress trees I can see are bending over to the point they are close to horizontal in the worst gusts

I’m only in Hertfordshire

Janemarpling · 09/02/2020 08:49

NE here was howling this morning but currently a damp squib.
