Hay...

Listening to the wind just starting to pick up here in Suffolk.

Is it bad where you are?

Midlands. Just seemed quite windy when I got up and was thinking of going out to local shop just a few miles drive but just had some massive gusts which felt like an earth tremor 😮

Think I should stay in

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 09/02/2020 08:00

Very wild and windy on the Staffordshire Shropshire border and no electricity since 7am

ElloBrian · 09/02/2020 08:04

Very windy in south London a couple of hours ago, unsettled the cats and woke me up early. Over the road’s wind chimes have been going like the clappers and there’s something loose out there somewhere on one of the neighbours’ houses which is rattling around.
But it has calmed down quite a bit in the last hour and I can still hear the planes coming over on the Heathrow flight path.

Contemplating going out and tipping the bins on their side before it gets worse again.

Jenasaurus · 09/02/2020 08:05

Nothing to report in West Sussex

BikeRunSki · 09/02/2020 08:06

West Yorkshire/South Yorks birder - wind picked up in the night, rain started a bit later.DD’s football match cancelled.

Haybo26 · 09/02/2020 08:07

North Wales..its wild here and has been since about 10.30 last night.

DeathMetalMum · 09/02/2020 08:09

Cheshire v windy and rainy, I was expecting to hear it through the night but only from about 5am. I'm heading out in a minute to take dp to work, he normally cycles but I've told him I'm taking him and picking him up today! We're supposed to have a gym class for dd1 later as well we will see if it goes ahead.

flumposie · 09/02/2020 08:10

Harrogate North Yorkshire. Wind and rain kept me awake during the night. Local attractions closed. I'm not venturing out today.

teraculum29 · 09/02/2020 08:10

very windy here, South of England.

thegreylady · 09/02/2020 08:12

Very very windy here in North Shropshire. We are not going out as we are both elderly and a bit wobbly. I wish I hadn’t forgotten to buy eggs yesterday...Porridge for Sunday breakfast and all other meals are catered for. We are lucky.

ListenLinda · 09/02/2020 08:14

West Yorkshire here. Wind is up, sounds bad from inside but haven’t look out yet. Absolutely peeing it down too.

nononever · 09/02/2020 08:14

Nothing too bad at the moment in NE Scotland. We had a lot worse here a few weeks ago when we were out of the country. It's not that unusual up here, we're used to it. The west coast is getting hammered though.

QuarterPastMidnight · 09/02/2020 08:16

West Mids here, it's pretty bad. We've had the kids and the cats in bed with us because they're frightened and it's very very wet and windy.

DP still seems to think his footy match will be on though Hmm

ElGuardiandenoche · 09/02/2020 08:19

@knowmenclature, thankfully no. The first home is about 200 yards back from that.

It’s still rough out there and I darent go out of the house.

Aragog · 09/02/2020 08:20

Much more windy than last night, when the wind had already picked up. Blowing hard outside and it's raining heavily too. Think it's a day to stay in and keep cosy!

Thewheelsarefallingoff · 09/02/2020 08:21

Norfolk here. Woke up and thought it may have missed us, but the wind is picking up now. Still dry so far.

lilyheather1 · 09/02/2020 08:22

Just got pushed against a fence walking the dogs here in West Kent. I've never known wind like it!

Smellybluecheese · 09/02/2020 08:23

Very windy here in Bucks

Mummyscrewedup · 09/02/2020 08:23

Sounds a bit breezy here in dorset

Charlie97 · 09/02/2020 08:24

Near Eastbourne the Air Sea Rescue we're out to a boat this morning, brave men and women, hope all get home safely.

Very windy, very rough sea.

millerjane · 09/02/2020 08:25

I'm just south of the Chilterns (Berks) and had I not known about the storm I would honestly just think it was a normal windy day (from the sound).

I always assume the hills protect us as you can have chaotic weather all around us but we never seem to bear the brunt of it.

Charlie97 · 09/02/2020 08:25

@Jenasaurus amazing West Sussex is calm! It's blowing a gale here in East Sussex and Air Sea Rescue have been out in very tough and rough conditions,

LakieLady · 09/02/2020 08:28

My neighbour's stupid, flimsy bin cupboard doors have been banging and keeping me awake since 3 am. The bay tree in the front garden looks like it's trying to have a lie down, it's at a 45 degree angle with every gust.

No roads closed yet, according to the AA website, but flood alerts along the coast (Sussex).

I haven't seen any of the neighbours out walking their dogs yet this morning. Bunch of lightweights.

Jenasaurus · 09/02/2020 08:29

charlie97 I am near Gatwick, window open and cant hear or see anything, but everytime I think is that it? , I realise its a car driving down the road and not the wind. I am disappointed as I enjoy listening to storms but I may regret saying that later.

Jenasaurus · 09/02/2020 08:30

Actually forget that...its arrived!
