Crap is as sweary as fuck

This is an assumption that I have, and DH has just learned but is vehemently opposed to. He thinks crap is LESS sweary than fuck. WTF??!!

Hmm i don't say crap but I say fuck, even though I probably think fuck is a 'worse' swear word. I just don't like poo related swear words 💩 I don't say shit either. Poo is yucky.

I'm from Coventry. Crap is mild as there.

I'm gonna rank swear words for fun. Piss is an onamatopia so I was using it to encourage my child to wee on the potty, but also said wee and that's what she uses at childminder. didn't realize it was concedered a real swear word. At primary school I learnt fuck and shit as first swear words I didn't hear at home. I allready knew and didn't concider a swear word crap, (allthough did find crapper was the name of the first flushing toilet funny) Bugger and bloody, very old fashioned wouldn't know where to rank.

I was raised in a very non-sweary household. We were allowed to say that siblings were being silly but never that they were being stupid. I remember a primary school assembly where they referred to having heard a student use the c-word. I assumed this was crap because it was the only swear word I’d ever heard.
When I about 15 my mother reversed into a fence post and said shit, I was shocked to my core!
I think they’d relaxed a lot my the time my sister (youngest of 4) was teenage and referred to something as being crap, I’d left home 4 years before and was still shocked.
Parents are violently atheist though so we were only gently reproved for ‘oh my god’ etc and just told not to say it in front of a particular elderly relative!

I'm actually bemused by why cunt is so offensive. The very worst insult you can deliver is to call someone a word for the female genitalia? I'm offended that its offensive! The female genitalia bring life into the world and pleasure to many including their owners. (I do accept that people are offended by it though, so I am sparing in its usage. )

How come bugger is less sweary for you than piss? I say bugger a lot - clearly not the the context of anal sex but it's funny how it doesn't feel as sweary as fuck...but on definitions alone it just as sweary unless we are referring to it as one who bugs you?

I was totally shocked when my bookish 12 year old asked if he could use the ‘C’ word as his friends use it. I almost choked until I realised he meant crap. I use the word twat all the time, to mean twit. My DH (Yorkshire) find it most offensive.
