AIBU to wear black tights with open toed shoes?

Just that really.

I have a lovely new pair of open toe heels I want to wear, but it is way too cold at the moment to go bare legs or wear my toeless thin tights.

Would this be a fashion faux pas? My friend says I will look ridiculous but at least my legs will be warm and my shoes will be pretty.

No, you can’t do that! It looks silly.

ShirleyPhallus · 06/02/2020 16:39

Yes it will look awful! Go for nude, toeless tights if you must or just brave the cold

MistressWeatherwax1 · 06/02/2020 16:41

I think it depends on the rest of your outfit but it can look perfectly fine so I say go for it.

Nooooooooooooo

Proudpeacock · 06/02/2020 16:41

Either it is warm enough to be bare legged and wear open toed shoes or it isn't. In February it isn't (at least in the uk).

Henhophouse · 06/02/2020 16:43

I think you should wear them if you want to wear them, and ignore the people saying no because really, who gives a fuck what anyone else thinks? Just do you and ignore the twits.

mantarays · 06/02/2020 16:43

I think that’s going to look weird.

peachgreen · 06/02/2020 16:45

It depends on the shoes. I think it's fine with chunky peep toes but not with strappy stilettos.

Dontsayyouloveme · 06/02/2020 16:46

🤢🤢🤢🤢

Joker123 · 06/02/2020 16:46

I think it’s a faux pas as it’s throws up images of your Gran in the 80s with her open toe heels and Nora batty tights 😂
But actually today it’s seen as a bit
Of a fashion statement and with the right shoes and tights I think it would look good!

ellaandthebella · 06/02/2020 16:46

@MistressWeatherwax1 I had a little google too and I have to admit I thought it looked quite nice on a lot of people. Granted all these people were beautiful so I guess that helps.

What henhop said. Wear what you like.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 06/02/2020 16:47

falls into the same category as

sleeveless Polo neck jumpers
shorts and tights
summer dresses and docs

not really done but if you are gorgeous and confident AF and 17 the you'll probably get away with it.

LadyMadderRose · 06/02/2020 16:47

I'm always wanging on about how everyone should wear what they like, and I know people do do this as per the pics. BUT it just seems so wrong to me! Wrong wrong wrong! Especially if your tights have those kind of bumpy seams at the toes.

But hey knock yourself out :o

wildthingsinthenight · 06/02/2020 16:48

I think it will look great and don't worry about what anyone else thinks

PinkSparkleUnicorns · 06/02/2020 16:50

I think it's fine. Though depends a bit on the shoes. Do u have a pic?

Fleamaker123 · 06/02/2020 16:52

No. Its like socks and sandals on men

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 06/02/2020 16:52

This is the female equivalent of grandads wearing thick socks with sandals in the summer. Just why?

Open toed shoes should not be worn at this time of year either imo - unless you are hopping in and out of a taxi to go into a nightclub!

SinglePringle · 06/02/2020 16:54

Vicky B looks weird (the two shades of black between tight and shoe jars).

SJP looks great.

Sparklypurpleunicornsaremyfav · 06/02/2020 16:54

Nope nope and nope

GiveHerHellFromUs · 06/02/2020 16:55

It completely depends on your outfit/figure/shoes.

99 times out of 100 it'll be a massive mistake.

SurpriseSparDay · 06/02/2020 16:56

I think it’s a fine look!

But even better if you swap the black tights for some beautiful, (proper, knitted) socks that slouch somewhere between mid-heel and ankle.

The sandals need to be cool though. Do yours look like Marni, Gucci or Rochas?

Hadjab · 06/02/2020 16:56

Yes, yes you are!

Alternatively, purchase some open toed tights....

SurpriseSparDay · 06/02/2020 16:57

Sorry - meant mid-shin and ankle.

thistimelastweek · 06/02/2020 16:59

I believe you should wear what you like (and comfy). But only if you do it with confidence - loud and proud.
