My daughter will be 2, just.
It's my brother that's getting married.
I think this dress is absolutely gorgeous for my little girl to wear but DH thinks it's got too much white in it...

@Noconceptofnormal no but she might be mistaken for a bridesmaid...

I think a different dress would be better.

Rachel709 · 07/02/2020 19:49

Easiest thing is to ask the bride.

LaurieMarlow · 07/02/2020 20:00

She won’t be mistaken for a BM because she won’t be walking down the aisle.

GuidoTheKillerPimp · 07/02/2020 20:04

She’s two: she’s hardly going to be mistaken for the bride. It’s a pretty dress. Ignore him and buy it. You could always ask the bride if you’re concerned she’ll be bothered.

Whiskeylover45 · 07/02/2020 20:33

My friends 5 yo daughter wore almost exactly the dress at my wedding. My youngest bridesmaid wanted to be a mini whiskey lover so had a white dress with lilac (our colour) petals at the bottom. Didnt bother me

GiveHerHellFromUs · 07/02/2020 20:41

@LaurieMarlow that's fine on the day, but what about in their wedding pictures? What about when OPs DD looks at them in 10-15 years and says "I didn't know I was your bridesmaid" and they have that awkward conversation of "oh actually your moms just a massive attention seeker"

TriciaH87 · 07/02/2020 21:10

Simple answer is message future sister in law and ask her if she would mind dd wearing it.

VerbenaGirl · 07/02/2020 21:14

Absolutely fine and very lovely.

EC22 · 07/02/2020 21:18

It’s a flower girls dress. Probably too fancy.

LaurieMarlow · 07/02/2020 21:19

but what about in their wedding pictures?

Honestly, no one gives a fuck about the wedding photos apart from the bride and groom.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 07/02/2020 21:27

Honestly, no one gives a fuck about the wedding photos apart from the bride and groom.

Yes, the two most important people at the wedding. The two who chose not to have bridesmaids or flower girls. Fuck what they think about the wedding photos.

maureen17 · 07/02/2020 21:31

I'm on the side of too much ... bridesmaid dress.

LaurieMarlow · 07/02/2020 21:31

Yes, the two most important people at the wedding. The two who chose not to have bridesmaids or flower girls. Fuck what they think about the wedding photos.

And the point is that there’ll be no danger of them mistaking DD for a BM because they’ll know she wasn’t one.

I mean really.

keffie12 · 07/02/2020 21:33

Men don't know much about these things! Just ignore him

Toomuchtrouble4me · 07/02/2020 21:34

Have you looked at wild and gorgeous dresses?
Imo - that’s not my cup of tea. But not too white.

PurplePattern · 07/02/2020 21:45

As you’ll know OP, it’s specifically in Monsoon’s ‘Bridal Party’ section and marketed as a flower girl dress.

This. The actual dress is in Monsoon under Flowergirl section....OP deliberately went looking in that section, knowing it is a flowergirl dress.
If it is only a dress, then it is very easy to choose another dress, because as people say "it is only a dress". There are so many beautiful non-flowergirl type dresses for sale, and your daughter would look equally beautiful and everyone will be happy.

LaurieMarlow · 07/02/2020 21:51

OP deliberately went looking in that section, knowing it is a flowergirl dress.

I am really enjoying how Monsoon are being positioned as some great arbiter of THE TRUTH on here. Grin

It’s just marketing

There’s huge overlap between their FG and party dresses. The link posted has a lot of dresses I wouldn’t deem ‘flower girl’ at all. No doubt they’re just trying to get more cash out of people.

Their categories are not clearly demarcated in store, so if the OP saw it in there first, she probably didn’t even realise.

Fantababy · 07/02/2020 21:55

On the website, it is in the 'baby girls dresses' section, which can be further filtered so it appears in 'party dresses'. It may also be found under flower girls dresses, but that is by no means the only place it appears.

Again, what kind of grown up kicks off about a baby's dress. Or attributes passive aggressive motives to everything everyone does?

ToftyAC · 07/02/2020 22:16

Gorgeous dress. Is buy it. She’s only a dinky dot so why not....

cherish123 · 07/02/2020 22:57

Absolutely fine.

malificent7 · 07/02/2020 23:46

People would be annoyed as too bridesmaidy Confused????

WiseNiceWoman · 08/02/2020 00:12

It is a gorgeous dress for sure and whilst it will look absolutely lovely on any two-year-old I do quite agree with the fact that it will be wasted on any two-year-old. They will try to pull bits off and get it dirty by perhaps rolling on the floor and you can be sure of a tantrum through the day and bad eating habit naturally. I don't know I sort of agree with "donkir". Quickly get a picture of her in it if you are hell-bent on her wearing it then just let her get on with her two-year-old behavior.

DramaAlpaca · 08/02/2020 00:21

Much too flower girl.

Barney60 · 08/02/2020 00:50

I think its beautiful. stick a pink cardigan over the top until after the ceremony no one will think its a bridesmaid dress then.

wombatsandpythons · 08/02/2020 00:54

Beautiful dress!! Buy it x
