To be worried about Trump getting a 2nd term

Anyone else?

I actually think that he will and quite frankly it scares me.

He actually said that America was respected again, under his presidency. It frightens me that they are a number of individuals in America that will believe this dross.

I thought after 4 years, people would of had enough..now its closer I'm starting to think otherwise 🙄

Thoughts?

I think he’ll definitely get in again, sadly.

Frothybothie · 05/02/2020 10:16

Has he achieved those things he has said he/ his government has achieved? Yes or no. More jobs, better expectations, better economic situation, safer streets, less crime, returned factories. If he has achieved what he promised then he will get back in.

Leaannb · 05/02/2020 10:17

You are right. A lot of Americans love him and he will be re-elected again

Urkiddingright · 05/02/2020 10:17

Just be thankful they can only be president for eight years in that country...

GiveHerHellFromUs · 05/02/2020 10:19

I'm pretty sure he'll be re-elected. To be fair, he's done a lot of what he promised.

beguilingeyes · 05/02/2020 10:22

I think so too, especially as the Democrats don't seem to be able to get their act together (what is it with the left?).

We've vowed not to go to the US while he's President so I'm worried I'll never get back there!

NewLevelsOfTiredness · 05/02/2020 10:23

I think his tax changes last year could be the saving grace. A lot (and it really, really was a lot) of standard Americans in swing vote areas suddenly got tax hikes. That's one of the things people really do notice and remember.

His vocal, passionate support has strengthened but probably in areas that would never have voted Democrat anyway.

These are the things I keep telling myself anyway!

Leaannb · 05/02/2020 10:27

@Frothiebothie he has accomplished none of those things but he will still get re-electrd

Gemm83 · 05/02/2020 10:27

@GiveHerHellFromUs

And is almost certainly guilty of an offence worthy of impeachment, but he's dodged that bullet.

(To clarify I also thought Clinton should have gone, just so people don't think I'm a donkey riding democrat!)

Mike Pence doesn't even look alive! I can't even begin to describe what he looks like. Kinda like a robot waiting for an instruction!!

I think you're right and TBH I blame the Liberal press. Ever since he was elected there has been a non-stop campaign in papers like the NYT to have him removed from office. Rather ridiculously, to his supporters this has made Trump look like the victim of a bullying campaign!

Trying desperately to find positives at least he has made everyone aware that the USA overfunds NATO and the Germans as major beneficaries and despite running a huge budget surplus do not pay their fair share. As an american taxpayer I would want to know that. Similarly I was shocked at some of the international trade agreements like Canadian dairy.

Another four years sounds awful but then what did Obama achieve in his eight years?

Lweji · 05/02/2020 10:29

Anyone else?

Pretty much everyone in the long running Trump threads. Come and join us.

Leaannb · 05/02/2020 10:30

@Giveherhellfrimus No. No he hasn’t. Not in a little bit has he kept let any of his promises. Our economy is worse than what it was, no wall (Thank God), tax hike that left us trillion of dollars in debt, our schools are not safe and education is floundering. So no he hasn’t done a whole for us. But he will stil be re-elected

Leaannb · 05/02/2020 10:32

@Gem83 I blame the democrats for this whole mess

Lweji · 05/02/2020 10:35

what did Obama achieve in his eight years?

Obamacare, which benefits many of its detractors because of the moniker given by Republicans
Recovery from a very serious financial crisis
Financial regulations to avoid another serious financial crisis (now being eroded)
Started insisting NATO countries gave a fair contribution
Osama Bin Laden
International respect
Discreet diplomatic mediations
Trade agreements or the beginning of
Undermining of NK's nuclear programme (totally out of control now)
Agreement with Iran to hold off nuclear programme
Putting competent people in key government jobs
Not denying climate change
Not undermining science
Not being controlled by Russia
Not being corrupt

Gemm83 · 05/02/2020 10:51

@Lweji

Apologies. I should have assumed there were existing threads!!

What got me from the Democrats side was how bloody petty Pelosi looked after his speech..."Won't shake my hand, well I will rip up your speech!"

I quite admired her a first for offering a handshake considering her absolute hatred of him, but then she actually came off looking like the bigger prat!

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 05/02/2020 10:57

Lweji - most of your list is things that he didn't do but are also what any normal sane person wouldn't do. Obama care was watered down so much that it bears no resemblance to the original plan. And how many people were prosecuted for the biggest man-made financial crisis that nearly destroyed the biggest capitalist economies? Obama sold out big time on the banking crisis to save the USA's international reputation, capitalism can't be seen to fail.

If you haven't already try reading this, it's interesting and explains Trump.

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 05/02/2020 11:00

And I don't post on your long running anti-Trump threads because I think that they perpetuate the idea of Trump as a "victim" and increase his support.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 05/02/2020 11:01

@Leaannb there are millions more jobs, economy has improved (although not as quickly or as much as promised, granted), median household income has risen

There are obviously negatives (like national debt) but that's always going to happen initially.

VenusOfWillendorf · 05/02/2020 11:01

I think his re-election is almost inevitable - he has huge support and little credible opposition.
I think he is worse than awful, but I don't that that matters! Not being American....

But I think that Boris is even worse (in particular in his attempt to shut down parliament). And he seems to be able to do whatever he likes. And unlike Trump, is actually intelligent - which I find scary.
I find the whole buffoon persona quite sickening. At least Trump doesn't try to hide his racism and misogyny (not saying that makes it any better of course).

MorrisZapp · 05/02/2020 11:07

It's Melania I feel sorry for. God knows what he's promised her in return for four more years of captivity.

HulksPurplePanties · 05/02/2020 11:07

He'll get in again because he's still riding on Obama's economy, because of the electoral college and because too many people in the US are undereducated, incredibly myopic, poor and desperate.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 05/02/2020 11:09

@MorrisZapp it's pretty clear there's a shit ton of money waiting for her when he dies

Leaannb · 05/02/2020 11:12

@Gibeherhellfromus Job growth has dropped under Trump. Under Obama 233,000 plus jobs were added per month Under Trump less than 200,000 jobs were added per month

Lweji · 05/02/2020 11:18

Apologies. I should have assumed there were existing threads!!

It was not an accusation. It's just saying that there are kindred spirits on MN. No need to feel lonely.

Lweji · 05/02/2020 11:23

On the back of the growth under Obama.

There are increasing news of farmers going bankrupt thanks to tariffs, though. Despite promises of improving farming.
The Federal government has had to subsidise farmers to compensate for tariffs, so there goes the aim of less federal government.

There are increasing warnings of an impending financial crisis due to rehashed bad credit and fewer regulations.

Watch out for abortion bans in many states, and for the composition of the Supreme Court. Prepare yourselves for fewer rights and less equality in future.

Oh, previously forgot about Obama being a lot cheaper than Trump. Have you seen the cost of his trips and stays at his own hotels?
