To ask what you would spend £1k on in Bicester Village?

I took out a women’s cancer insurance around 15 years ago and just got my premiums back as I thankfully didn’t need to claim for anything. I now have £1k which i don’t want to absorb into the household bills as I feel I should celebrate the fact that I’m healthy! I can get to Bicester Village and was wondering if I should spend it there? I’m not usually into designer clothes so this would be a real treat..what investment pieces would you buy? I work full time in an office but can wear smart casual there...usually in jeans and tops at the weekend and don’t like to bare legs or chest..

Great news! I'd go for something classic that you'll get a lot of wear out of and won't date...perhaps a coat or a bag.

Marahute · 31/01/2020 20:37

Handbag!

Singlebutmarried · 31/01/2020 20:37

A big pointy stick to get through the hoards.

Emmelina · 31/01/2020 20:38

A really nice pair of long leather boots.

Rose789 · 31/01/2020 20:40

No idea but as an aside if you are an AA member you get a 10% discount there. Worth taking a friend if you aren’t Wink

SpeckledyHen · 31/01/2020 20:41

A Burberry mac .

AwkwardSquad · 31/01/2020 20:47

I think I’d buy a piece of jewellery, boots and a new coat.

AwkwardSquad · 31/01/2020 20:49

Although if I had £1k to treat myself with, I’d love to spend it in Liberty

Alsohuman · 31/01/2020 20:49

Mulberry handbag.

ContinuityError · 31/01/2020 20:52

Really, don't try to buy an "investment piece" there. That's not the place.

Go somewhere really nice, make a day of it and choose something you love - Selfridges, Liberty.

I think I would buy a lovely roomy bag in a classic colour from Coach outlet and take the rest away but either a good watch or a simple but elegant bangle or bracelet that I could wear everyday and each tone I put it on if made me feel great Smile

crowsfeet57 · 31/01/2020 21:05

A mulberry bag.

Oblomov20 · 31/01/2020 21:09

I only occasionally go to Bicester. Spending £1k there is so very easy. A couple of handbags and 3 dresses/work suits from the boutiques and your money is gone!

MozzchopsThirty · 31/01/2020 21:10

Mulberry bag

Willow4987 · 31/01/2020 21:11

Something classic you can use/treasure for ages

Decent handbag
Classic coat
Leather shoes

Etc...

tiredsleepysleep · 31/01/2020 21:15

If I had £1k to spend on something like a lovely handbag, I wouldn't go to an outlet village, spending that much on a bag should be a luxury experience. Go into town and go to the actual shop and enjoy the experience, have a nice leisurely lunch while you're out!

I'm jealous! Grinenjoy x

ALbigbump · 31/01/2020 21:16

A mulberry bag! Enjoy

GetOffTheTableMabel · 31/01/2020 21:17

MaxMara camel coat?

SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge · 31/01/2020 21:20

Mulberry bag

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 31/01/2020 21:25

Not the same thing but I'd be tempted to do one of those personal stylist appointments at John Lewis or similar. See if they pick out anything you really love! The fee is redeemable against any purchases you make. I've heard some very favourable reviews.

Our branch has just added a 'style lounge' to make the experience a bit more luxe Wine

I'd possibly wait until further into February for greater choice on the rails.

flatpack1 · 31/01/2020 21:26

Loro Piana for me. Scarf and gloves. Job done.

Blingismything · 31/01/2020 21:29

Mulberry Bayswater

5BlueHydrangea · 31/01/2020 21:29

How on earth can a scarf and gloves cost £1000??!!

whateverhappenstheremore · 31/01/2020 21:29

I would buy a Burberry MAC for around 800 quid and then treat myself to a few other little bits. Or a nice handbag but I wouldnt go to Bicester for that I would get a classic like a marking

Bouledeneige · 31/01/2020 21:32
