To think not many people will turn up for the Brexshit 'celebration' in London

I see they've put flags down the mall but I feel like not many people will turn up for this. I know there's the big draw of farage, Widdecombe, and possibly the racist Jim Davidson. AIBU to think there's not likely to be a big turnout?

Thing is whatever people do willl be wrong. If they go they will be gloating and rubbing remainers noses in it, if they don't go they will be regretting it and thinking they have got it wrong. No win situation.

I will probably be in bed by then. Been up since 5.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 31/01/2020 15:02

All sounds like a terrible night out, tbh.

Dull, dreary January weather, while everyone sternly surveys the rest of the crowd to see if anyone of them are sneezing. I've seen more star-studded guest lists at the local Town Christmas Lights Switch On.

They haven't even got Ant and Dec to appeal to the yoof vote. Shock

That Potential Guest List in full:
Brexit Party MEP Ann Widdecombe, Wetherspoon founder Tim Martin, broadcaster Julia Hartley-Brewer, Brexit Party chair Richard Tice and, of course, Nigel Farage will reportedly be in attendance and potentially doing speeches. There will be no fireworks and no booze.

Tim Martin, for crying out loud

Okay okay okay! Let's settle this once and for all. Are there any racists on here willing to admit they voted Remain?

GingerBeverage · 31/01/2020 15:30

Wetherspoons will all be busy though.

I do expect a big turnout. It's not often people can do a mass gloating.

Tillymintsmama · 31/01/2020 15:34

Tons of people will be celebrating. The general election was a resounding result for Brexit. (Sadly.)

I think we just need to accept and make the best of it now. I'm just going to do the best I can in my own little corner of the world....and will be well tucked up in bed by 11pm tonight.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 31/01/2020 15:36

Next up. Is anyone under 30 prepared to spend money on train tickets to see Jim Davidson on a Friday night?

Don't they have raves or something to go to? No, I agree I don't know much about this area. Grin Can anyone who is dahn wiv the kidz share what they do these days?

dimsum123 · 31/01/2020 15:36

@JamieVardysHavingAParty, you have made me laugh with your comment about looking out for sneezers!!! Grin

Thank you, it's the first time I've laughed today, have been utterly depressed about tonight. I will probably be crying into a drink tonight. Sad

FizzyIce · 31/01/2020 15:44

A big draw ?? Ha!
I don’t know , there are a lot of fuckwits about so I expect quite a few of them with find their way down .

I will have an anti brexit evening by eating “foreign” food and drinking French wine .

FizzyIce · 31/01/2020 15:45

*will find their way

FizzyIce · 31/01/2020 15:46

@ConcernedAuntie oh my heart bleeds for them ..

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 31/01/2020 15:48

dimsum123

Thank you. Grin I try to find the bright side in life.

WhereShallWeMoveTo · 31/01/2020 16:08

Anyon who is dim enough to think that the EU is responsible for us ‘having’ to take immigrants from Pakistan. India, Africa and the Caribbean is clearly of limited intelligence and zero awareness of British history and is therefore not worth taking seriously. There will always be a handful of idiots who will give supply you with outrageous examples of stupidity and ignorance. They are hardly representative of most of the British electorate who actually bothered to vote.

longwayoff · 31/01/2020 16:17

Farage, Widdecombe AND Jim Davidson? Hold me back.

theunknownknown · 31/01/2020 16:20

You see, as a remainer I really want to go and jeer. I won’t because I don’t want to surround myself with the type of person who is there to celebrate.
But equally, I can’t bear the thought that the images that will be screened to the world are thuggy racist people tanked up on ‘spoons waving their little flags that represent the union that they’re about to throw a grenade under.
So I think let them have their mass gloat. They’ll have to deal with the reality of what they’ve done soon enough.
Forecast says rain at 11pm Grin

WhereShallWeMoveTo · 31/01/2020 16:23

Tellme I lived abroad at the time of the referendum. I also own a holiday home in an EU country with a large British contingent living there full time. While I completely empathise with their fears and concerns for their future, it does piss me off when you get the ones who have lived there for 15, 20 years or more, and have a) absolutely no intention of returning and b) zero awareness or experience of the issues that caused many Leave voters to want to leave in be first place because they’ve not lived through it, complaining that their rights as British citizens are being stripped from them. Do they seriously expect people dealing with their own issues at home to give a second thought to them, busy living the dream in Spain for the last 20 years? These people don’t want to take citizenship in the country they live in but are no longer eligible to vote because they’ve been gone so long. Sorry but they are a pretty low priority for most people back in the UK. They have choices, no one is kicking them out, they just like to be able to hedge their bets.

theunknownknown · 31/01/2020 16:23

Au contraire, I think it’s way way way more than a handful.
All voting leave.
A Venn diagram would be interesting.

WhereShallWeMoveTo · 31/01/2020 16:23

Paragraphs would have been good there 😂

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 31/01/2020 16:32

We'll forgive you for the lack, whereshallwemoveto. Grin

Google doesn't list the Farage Event on the what's on guide for tonight. Shock Sabotage!

dimsum123 · 31/01/2020 16:37

Yes looks like rain or at least thick black clouds tonight at 11pm. Ominous and maybe a sign of things to come....

Cinammoncake · 31/01/2020 17:28

Oh no hope the union jacks and bunting don't get wet.

But equally, I can’t bear the thought that the images that will be screened to the world are thuggy racist people tanked up on ‘spoons waving their little flags that represent the union that they’re about to throw a grenade under.

It'll be interesting to see who does show up for it. Maybe all the alleged normal intelligent non racist supporters will a) show up and b) articulate why the whole thing's a good idea. Now that would be a surprise.

Suppose Farage gets wet? [concerned]

Lordfrontpaw · 31/01/2020 17:39

Has it started yet? I’m jay off to check the local traffic cam website.

Lordfrontpaw · 31/01/2020 17:41

Dammit the only camera is looking the wrong way.

ManonBlackbeak · 31/01/2020 17:47

Someone upoloaded footage to Twitter earlier of what appeared to be a small group of pensioners waving Union Jacks in parliament square.

Lordfrontpaw · 31/01/2020 17:51

I’ve asked DS to report back (he’s on his way back from school). He said he will look out for Farage. Bless ‘im.
