"People who had voted to Remain gathered on social media to commiserate and share worries, and I saw people, whom I'd thought were decent, making fun of them for being scared. Since 2017, I have seen people laugh-reacting and posting 'project fear' to people expressing concern about cancer treatment, the survival of their small businesses and so much more. And people liked the mockery.
I'd thought British values included graceful winning. Turns out I was wrong.
If the Brexit crowd had, as a group, generally said, "I understand you're scared but I think that it's for the best, but I'll lobby my MP to ask that this concern is addressed in the negotiations", pulling together might be possible.
I'm not going to forget the vile hostility from the winners of this, and I don't expect the victims of it will either"
I've seen vile hostility from both sides, the first lot of abuse on my facebook was the girlfriend and her partners friends calling leavers all the names under the sun.
Remainers have called leavers, racists, bigots, twats, uneducated, thick, you name it, we've been called it. Leavers have done their fair share calling remainers sore losers and telling them to get over it.
In fact, name calling has happened on this very thread by remainers. Neither side is innocent. The issue is that a lot of people only see what they want to see and only hear what they want to hear.
I see mn as a predominantly remain site, that's clear by the threads, there are a handful of leavers who do voice their opinion but I'm not surprised that it's only a handful. Virtually as soon as a brexit thread starts, the name calling and mud slinging starts and usually by a remainer and any leave voter is interrogated straight away.
