I have just discovered, by accident, that if you open another tab in your web browser, you can click on the tab and drag it away so that you have a second separate browser open at the same time. I don't mean split screen but like you have opened a separate thing. Did you all know this already?

I know this is a pathetic thing to get excited about but I was literally like this Shock and then giddy with excitement.

AIBU to be be pleased with my discovery?

@bobobunny I’ve got mine set to show a high number of posts per page but I don’t (for no particular reason) like having all posts per page. I think it harks back to when MN has been on a go slow and takes forever to load anything.

You still have the problem of having to scroll through loads to find where you last got up to if you go through watched or my threads though don’t you?

olbndansmummy · 03/02/2020 17:23

@BohoBunney just bought waffles today, and they do indeed say "cook in the toaster in 5 minutes" on the box!

I love Macdonalds coffee but i have it black and always ask for ice cubes. The branch in Tottenham Court Road wanted me to pay for them, I declined

AlCalavicci · 03/02/2020 21:44

To make it easier to hop from thread to thread on MN I often have the page opened several times from my browser ( google in my case ) then just click the tabs to hop from thread to thread and refresh it each time . Bookmarking them is then only needed if the thread is getting lots of hits .

AlCalavicci · 03/02/2020 21:47

@janj2301 ,
I wonder how much they think they should charge you per cube , If I am getting a soft drink I always ask for no ice , I think I am due a refund !

Ctrl+ and Ctrl- magnify and.. um... minify the screen.

SayNoToCarrots · 04/02/2020 06:34

Today I found out that the apex of the heart is at the bottom but it starts at the top in the foetus and then swivels round.

Where did you learn this? I'm pretty sure that isn't true.

No, not if you use the bookmark feature (which should be a point on here in itself)!

SoupDragon · 04/02/2020 09:36

What should be a point on here is that not all MN views have the bookmark feature. I use MN Classic - no bookmark feature.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 04/02/2020 09:55

What is MN Classic?

SoupDragon · 04/02/2020 10:06

Just a different viewing option.

I think the ability to choose it was removed but, if you were using it already, they didn't take it away.

Another browser tip. Hold the ctrl key while you click a link to force it to open in a new tab.
Useful if you want to keep an original page open, and also open multiple links from that page.

How to reheat pizza ...........

in a frying pan, with the lid on. Tastes just as good as first time round

GiveHerHellFromUs · 04/02/2020 15:17

@justmyview put it in the oven with a bowl of water!

PhilCornwall1 · 04/02/2020 16:23

Probably known by most people, but in Google Chrome. Ctrl+1 will take you to your first tab, Ctrl+9 takes you to the last. Any number. In the middle will take you to a tab of that number.

RhymingRabbit3 · 04/02/2020 16:38

I’m always stupidly surprised at actors that are related
My favourite surprise one of these was that Gary Oldman is the brother of Laila Morse (Big Mo from eastenders)

TeacupDrama · 04/02/2020 16:54

My favourite random thing like this is the little side arrow next to the petrol pump sign on your vehicles fuel gauge indicates which side the fuel cap is on. Blows peoples minds every time

this comes up all the time it is not actually true

GabsAlot · 04/02/2020 21:39

i JUST TRIED SHIFT AND F3 IT DIDNT WORK

RedTartanLass · 04/02/2020 21:49
  • You can cook beans in a tin in the Aga.

Open the tin or it will be more dramatic than you expected*

First time in years I have genuinely laughed out loud at a post!!

DadDadDad · 04/02/2020 23:42

@RhymingRabbit3 - that's just reminded me:

Gary NUman is older (by only 13 days) then Gary OLDman.

My post re the pdf document, I don't know what version of windows it was but it was definitely not 10, and it may not even have been 7. The version of word they were using was 2010 so all pretty old.

Glad my iPhone keyboard tip was useful. I've tried the swiping typing thing and sometimes I like it but I always revert back to normal typing as old habits die hard.

The reverse percentages blew my mind though. Which is a little Blushwhen I tell you I'm an accountant and use percentages on a daily basis...! How did this escape me?! I've been doing this job for 23 years!!

Elouera · 05/02/2020 09:55

@TeacupDrama- why do you say the petrol arrow isn't true? I have one on my car dashboard!

GiveHerHellFromUs · 05/02/2020 09:59

@Elouera that doesn't mean all cars do.
Mine doesn't.

Elouera · 05/02/2020 10:55

@GiveHerHellFromUs- Agree, not all cars have the arrow, but never said they ALL do, just mine does.

TeacupDrama · 05/02/2020 10:56

@elouera because it isn't true

Principally the petrol hose symbol is just an indictator of low fuel if it comes on you need fuel
which side the hose is on doesn't necessarily equate to what side of the car the fuel cap is in many cars it is the same but it isn't always , the statement always comes up on this thread because even if it were random it would be correct for 50% of cars but it is not always true though it is sometimes

a bit like the equally untrue "fact" that diallers on toasts equal minutes well 1 might =1 minute but 5 doesn't = 5 minutes
