I have just discovered, by accident, that if you open another tab in your web browser, you can click on the tab and drag it away so that you have a second separate browser open at the same time. I don't mean split screen but like you have opened a separate thing. Did you all know this already?

I know this is a pathetic thing to get excited about but I was literally like this Shock and then giddy with excitement.

AIBU to be be pleased with my discovery?

@Cohle WOW!!

Tealightlil · 01/02/2020 11:56

Please don’t attempt cheese on toast with the toaster on its side. I did this a few years ago and the toaster set on fire. I managed to extinguish it but it was really close to catching the kitchen cabinets!

If you do Ctrl +Alt+Delete + arrow down, you’ll flip the computer screen upside down. Quite entertaining if someone has left their computer unlocked

NewYearNewTwatName · 01/02/2020 18:17

Every android phone I've had has a camera option on the locked screen.

Havingthetimeofmylife · 01/02/2020 18:34

The reverse percentages thing is a mind- blowing fact that I wish I'd known before doing my tax return!

I was truly amazed to find out that fridges have a removable drip tray at the back...

CharlieTPatteson · 01/02/2020 18:36

Haven’t read the full thread but I was v excited when I found out this a few years ago- the top shelf in your dishwasher is interchangeable!
You can take it out and either move up or down (depending on how it’s placed when you first get it)
I had bought smaller plates to use for years as my big plates could never be washed in the bottom (or top) of our dishwasher- now they can! (By moving through top shelf up to the next level!) mind blowing at the time (I live a simple life!)

I'm feeling bad now. This wasn't my comment. I don't seem to be able to quote people on here and I just cut and pasted because I thought it was really funny. I obviously missed out on the part when I should have made it clear that someone else had said this and I just remarking on how funny I found it. Sorry to the person who I seem to have plagerised (blush).

somm · 01/02/2020 20:22

Oh, but I do have one tip - if you don't like dogs don't get one.

AlCalavicci · 01/02/2020 20:39

@honeybeetheoneandonly ,

For drivers who have difficulty remembering which side the petrol filler cap is, simply buy an old Jaguar XJ6 Series II, which has one on both sides.

MulticolourMophead · 02/02/2020 10:08

I know some cars don't have a triangle at all but do some have one that is on the wrong side?

Yes. I've had cars where the fuel cap was on the other side.

I think, though, that manufacturers are running with the urban myth now, as newer cars are more likely to fit. A case of fact following fiction.

MulticolourMophead · 02/02/2020 10:11

Meanwhile, you can make pancakes in a sandwich toaster. And little cakes.

You need a thicker American style batter for pancakes, and Victoria Sandwich cake mix works well for cake.

3-4 mins per batch (I fill the hollows level). With the cakes, you can make a split in the longest side of the triangle to put in cream, jam, buttercream, etc. Lovely.

SoupDragon · 02/02/2020 10:18

You can "fry" eggs in a sandwich toaster too.

Cornettoninja · 02/02/2020 10:21

Just occurred to me this one might be one some people might not know.

you know when your reading a long thread? You can change the page number between the ‘prev’ and ‘next’ links by just highlighting and typing a number instead of having to flick through loads of pages. If you have a vague idea of where you last read the thread up to it’s much quicker to go straight to page 8 than clicking front or back.

*You can cook beans in a tin in the Aga.

Open the tin or it will be more dramatic than you expected.*
My uncle, as a student, heated a can of beans in a saucepan without opening it (I don't know why he didn't just tip the beans into the pan first) I believe the result was----explosive.

jaffaeclipse · 02/02/2020 10:44

Whether the legend of the Greek gods were always legends or whether it was religion that people believed in.

His and hers fuel tanks. Sorts out the arguments Grin

Cut toast soldiers using a pizza cutter, much easier than using a knife.

SoupDragon · 02/02/2020 11:11

Cut pizza with scissors. Much easier than a pizza cutter 😂

TimeIhadaNameChange · 02/02/2020 11:27

@jaffaeclipse - I asked my Classics teacher something similar to this on a trip to Rome (though ‘when’ the Italians stopped believing in the old Gods rather than if they ever did). He, rather enigmatically, replied that some still did, but refused to say anything further, and wasn’t one for teasing. That comment has always intrigued me.

EvokeFlow · 02/02/2020 11:29

Google Translate tip - tap the camera icon and point the camera at some foreign-language text. The phone will translate the text, no need to type. It will even work with Japanese etc.

jaffaeclipse · 02/02/2020 11:29

@timeihadanamechange Perhaps he believed in them but didn't want to say?

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 02/02/2020 11:36

I love that this is still going with some very useful and funny tips! Grin

That long hair is MUCH easier to manage than short hair - on me, anyway (just put it up, takes seconds). I have wasted much time messing around with trying to get short hair to look right.
