Started a new thread on the off chance () that something funny might happen in my street later. Maybe around 10pm...

Diagram below for the handful of people in the country that haven't printed it off yet...

@originalcatlady I do think you need to have a chat with the K’s and get them in on the fun... they’re obviously oblivious to the fun everyone’s having at B’s expense and I’m sure they’d love to participate!

Re: my own parking dramas. No16 still playing musical cars, I reported to DVLA. Grandson clearly has no insurance if car is not taxed nor MOT’d and still proceeds to drive him and his pretentious girlfriend around in his vehicles. DVLA not been out. Kinda gutted. Might report again for banter and ring 101 next time I see them go out and request a marker put onto their vehicle for no tax, mot or insurance Smile

Lweji · 06/02/2020 12:44

so C knew nothing of her trapped-ness

She might have known, but also knew B would leave early.
The question is whether she'll do the same again.

Pandamumium · 06/02/2020 13:01

Thank you, Catlady. This is brilliant. The first thing I’ve done after getting in from work is to check in.

OlaEliza · 06/02/2020 14:28

I'd give K the link to this thread.

originalcatlady · 06/02/2020 15:50

B is in her favoured spot, in line with her doorway. Strange Cars are both by X, with an additional strange car in what's left of 2/3

OP posts:
anonacfr · 06/02/2020 15:52

OP why don't you use B's spot? Just once...

originalcatlady · 06/02/2020 15:53

Oh I have parked over there before when I've had skips etc. The evil looks and the mutterings...even asked when my skip was going 😂

HorseFlyOfExtraordinaryLength · 06/02/2020 17:26

Today I parked in the middle of two spaces just so that I was exactly outside my front door to emulate MrsB.
It felt so wrong.

anonacfr · 06/02/2020 18:25

Do it again OP and tell her you have list your car keys... 😁

Ineedanap90 · 07/02/2020 05:47

I'm up early.. As ways.. Cup of tea in hand waiting for today's shenanigans ☕😂

Jojo2wyatr · 07/02/2020 06:16

@originalcatlady
You had me laughing hysterically when I read how Mrs. B. had " managed to rev her way out of her spot "

Jojo2wyatr · 07/02/2020 06:22

Look what I found on my street! Orange poles to block off my own personal parking spot...they were leftover from some workmen that were on my street 6 months ago....I could have been using them all this time...it wasn't until @originalcatlady started this thread that I thought of it. And yes, I managed to slide in between the orange things with a hand brake manoeuver, I did.

Frenchw1fe · 07/02/2020 06:26

@jojo2wyatr I like these. Also impressed with your manoeuvre.

Jojo2wyatr · 07/02/2020 06:29

There were 4 in all @French. I'll share..I only need the two

olbndansmummy · 07/02/2020 07:25

@Jojo2wyatr yes but is it touching? 😂

HavenDilemma · 07/02/2020 11:14

@Pritchyx PLEEEEEASE start your own thread!!!!

Pritchyx · 07/02/2020 11:20

@HavenDilemma I probably will once my new landlord puts a driveway in and I’ll be raging about my drive being blocked in by the twunts at 16.

No idea if/when it’ll happen but I’m back to work next week so I’m not as on the ball as OP is! Sad

Never thought I'd say this, but there's a good point by one of the DM readers - how will everyone manage with electric cars and no drive, or not able to park ouside their own house?
Will there be electric meters (like parking meters) along the street (so you use the one you park next to)? Or will we have our own retractable lines that can pull out many metres to the car further down the street? (Can you imagine the tangles and trip hazards on a busy street?)
Have I missed a memo on this? Confused

Fink · 07/02/2020 16:34

Bluetrews25 there have been various threads over time. It's something I've often thought about (and other issues to do with charging, such as having to leave a window or door open to run the cable, and the distance per charge) and has put me off buying an electric car.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 07/02/2020 16:59

I think they're working on technology for wireless charging. Some fancy new phones have it and I gather it's supposed to be one of the planned features for new so-called smart motorways (so they can also track and charge you per mile, to replace the lost revenue from petrol and diesel).

I suppose they could install small charging posts by the kerb. B would probably be bewildered and rant about the 'ridiculous' council for putting the charging posts in stupid places - i.e. half a car length in front of and behind where she parks her car Grin That's if they survive and don't get knocked over like ninepins when she's manoeuvring to park Grin

The only other alternative I can think of is if they put them high up on top of lamp posts and telegraph poles with long swingy wires hanging down (like the hoses at the petrol station jet wash).

Katzia · 07/02/2020 17:08

@Fink Most people with electric cars and who live in houses install an outside dedicated charging point, so no need to leave doors and windows open. People in flats either use on street charging or they may have charge points in their parking space. However the government policy is not thought out at all well, it seems a bit pie in the sky at the moment. Next they'll be telling us we'll all travel by teleporting!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 07/02/2020 18:14

The battery tech needs to improve a lot before electric cars will be fully fit for purpose: at present the range simply is not long enough and the charging time is too long, turning a one-day journey into a two-day one in many cases.

The best suggestion I have seen so far is a system for exchanging a depleted battery for a full one when you need more miles, once they have managed to make them light enough to shift out of the car.,

Has anyone thought how many more cars will be needed, since the batteries wear out faster than a car does, and how much extra pollution all the new manufacturing will cause? Well, yes, you bet someone has thought about that: the people who make cars will have done. If everyone has to buy a new car every five years, they're going to be laughing all the way to the bank.

EvilPea · 07/02/2020 18:27

how much extra pollution all the new manufacturing will cause?

This 100 x this.
The logistics and mining involved, parts and metals moved all over the world.

It’s like leasing, realistically these are going to be leased cars handed back. If they are only good for throwing away there’s no value in the returned product so the lease cost will be higher.
