Started a new thread on the off chance () that something funny might happen in my street later. Maybe around 10pm...

Diagram below for the handful of people in the country that haven't printed it off yet...

Is C almost touching?

Jojo2wyatr · 04/02/2020 19:16

@HopeYouStepOnALego,
Your profile nickname alone is giggle inspiring! Every time I see it I break out into fits of laughterGrin
Are you coming out with an Alphabet Street tshirt also?

originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 19:38

I can confirm that C is almost touching. You'll all hear her getting out of that in the morning!

Ineedanap90 · 04/02/2020 19:46

I'm on the early shift at work tomorrow too.. So I shall be awake for the mornings meltdown by B.. Can just imagine her calling in sick to work as she can't get out her space haha

Jojo2wyatr · 04/02/2020 20:44

🤣🤣🤣, I'm new to MN, so I wasn't familiar with the overwhelming popularity of a good parking thread....
I must have signed on to MN immediately after @originalcatlady started her thread since no one had posted yet....I said to my innocent, ignorant self..."Oh poor @originalcatlady,....no one is interested in her post"
I didn't chime in at the time, but when I checked in a little while later, there were millions if not billions of MNETTERS enjoying all the fun....I was hooked. MNETTERS have the absolute best sense of humours...now how many weeks ago was that? And what all have I not gotten done around here because of my constant checking on Alphabet Streets? And, btw, how are we doing with ALPHABET STREETS ROUND THE GLOBE? Anyone in an unusual exotic location who is as invested as I am? Of course, DM DID help make this a far reaching all-corners-of- the-earth post ...so we can thank them for that bit, I guess...Chicago, are you still here? How about Spain, Australia, and South Africa, and that other place off the African coast?

originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 20:55

Welcome to Mumsnet @Jojo2wyatr. It's good isn't it

She's in 3. I repeat. B is in 3.

"THIS IS NOT A DRILL"

originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 21:11

She moved twice to end up in a worse position, just to be ten feet closer to her house.

givemebooks · 04/02/2020 21:14

Thank you so much for this thread @originalcatlady bloody brilliant! anyone else like me? made it part of the nightly ritual to check on alphabet street and see where B is before bed 🤣

sneakythecat49 · 04/02/2020 21:18

Not just you, no! I check every night whilst I'm having my bath, also late morning and possibly just after dinner Grin

NigellaAwesome · 04/02/2020 21:26

Just a word about X - my DM has a disabled parking spot outside her house. Someone complained it wasn't being used, and I corresponded with the relevant agency on her behalf, explaining she had been in hospital for a number of weeks. They replied that disabled spaces are for 'disabled drivers' only, and if she no longer drives, she is no longer eligible for the space.

I think it was her witch of a next-door neighbour who complained, because she has a habit of parking so close my DM couldn't, with the best will in the world, get out of the space as it was so short (because the neighbour had complained and said they didn't want any part of the space outside their house).

To top it off, there is a tree on the pavement, so she often couldn't get out of the car as the tree was at the driver's door.

When I raised it with the disabled space folk, they extended the space to 1 1/2 the length, outside the neighbour's house Grin.

originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 21:32

It's in front of A's drive anyway so either way, no one should park there. Imagine if it was extended though

@Jojo2wyatr my husband inspired my username. Nuff said 😉

HopeYouStepOnALego · 04/02/2020 21:59

@Tangfastics why do you have to haunt anyone? Lots of people name change for different threads, so what? Sometimes mistakes are made changing back or not changing back. Doesn’t make them a troll. Stop trying to derail the thread.

DdraigGoch · 04/02/2020 22:13

Friend has just left. Mrs B was in her car before friend was in hers!
You missed a golden opportunity to wind B up by having your friend pop to the car to get things before returning inside.

originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 22:20

She always waves and says hi when B's standing watching her!

Further to my other rant comment, why do some people think that having a drive entitles them to not only have the privilege of guaranteed access to said drive where otherwise another free-for-all space could have been but also the space opposite too - and even the spaces either side, to enable them to take exactly their preferred angle without any manoeuvring?

A drive is meant to be a functional facility as part of a property - it isn't a symbol of how marvellous and important you think you are. It's a space to park your car which you legally have the right to access, but nowhere does that right guarantee you as much room as you like to sweep straight in from all directions without ever having to make any manoeuvring adjustments.

originalcatlady · 04/02/2020 23:09

Totally agree. Would never occur to me to complain about D or F parking in 4, and yet they complain if K parks in 5 which is exactly the same.

OP posts:
OlaEliza · 04/02/2020 23:26

If she's half in 1&2, and the next car is in 3, surely she's got half a space in front of her, so how can't she get out of the space? ConfusedShock

OlaEliza · 04/02/2020 23:27

If she can't get out of that space I'd consider reporting her to the DVLA.

CharmingB · 04/02/2020 23:45

If B wasn't such a twat I'd love to volunteer to park her car/remove her car from a "tight" space for her in an attempt to prove to her how shit at parking she is!

But then that might spoil all this fun!

harryboo44 · 04/02/2020 23:51

@Tangfastics....are you B...

Jojo2wyatr · 05/02/2020 03:27

Oh my! @originalcatlady welcomed me to MN! I feel so honoured... thank you for welcoming me! I had no idea that there were so many people in the world with my kind of sense of humour. And selfless people like you, @originalcatlady who would sit peeping through her just-so blinds to provide boundless giggles to the rest of us. It's a magical place with all you magical peopleGrin
@HopeYouStepOnALego..you are brilliant.😂 And thanks for telling @Tangfastics to stop the bullying...away with you, @tangfastics

Weenurse · 05/02/2020 06:43

Still invested in Australia. I check every night when I get in.
Is C still parked in 1?
