Getting a David Tennant

DonJonnellO · 30/01/2020 12:19

A co-worker of mine is a really big fan of David Tennant so for her birthday i bought her a 6ft cutout of David Tennant and gave it to her at work. Others have been saying its inappropriate or just weird.

Am i being unreasonable?

Grin

Did she like it? That's all that matters Wink

chellochello · 30/01/2020 12:22

Bit weird - but if your co-worker liked it I can't see a problem

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 30/01/2020 12:22

Ha, that's brilliant. I'd be well chuffed

femidom12 · 30/01/2020 12:23

Ohhh David Teninch! is it to scale?

bellinisurge · 30/01/2020 12:25

I can think of two people off the top of my head at work who would love this. One of whom would hate the generosity and the attention. Depends on the person? Did they like it?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 30/01/2020 12:26

Only inappropriate if he's naked - and even then it's debatable imo Grin

DonJonnellO · 30/01/2020 12:38

She seemed pretty happy with it Grin

I would love this! As him as the Doctor of course

My husband would probably be less enthralled...

HairyDogsOfThigh · 30/01/2020 12:59

What a fabulous gift. Only possibly inappropriate if you have a customer facing role and you presented it in front of customers, or she has nowhere to store it away from customer's view. Otherwise, i think it's a great, unusual and thoughtful gift.

SistersOfPercy · 30/01/2020 13:03

Hell no! Can you be my friend too please?
I'd like a Sam Winchester please

NaviSprite · 30/01/2020 13:06

I’d happily have this at home and so would DH (David Tennant is his Man Crush Grin). If the recipient of the gift liked it that’s all that matters really and you sound like a lovely friend 😊

forrandomposts · 30/01/2020 13:06

Inappropriate - no
Weird - yes definitely Grin

BrexitBingoGenerator · 30/01/2020 13:09

Oh my god that is a brilliant present OP- those people complaining are obvs just jealous that they didn’t have the idea first.

Laughing at the thought of her carrying him home on the bus Grin

Isitsixoclockalready · 30/01/2020 13:09

Bit different but funny. Not sure how it's inappropriate.

DuckZilla · 30/01/2020 13:13

It’s my birthday tomorrow and I would absolutely love this as a gift!

fleamadonna · 30/01/2020 13:14

I work in a pub and when one of our lovely coworkers moved on to pastures new we made her a life size cut out of everyone’s favourite local. We all signed the back.

Apparently it lives in her spare room now and her drunken friends occasionally try to engage it in conversation.

Singlebutmarried · 30/01/2020 13:14

I’d love it!

cuckooken · 30/01/2020 13:17

It's an odd gift for a co worker tbh. That is most definitely the kind of gift you give to a good friend. I can see where your other colleagues are coming from. Gifts for co workers are usually token shit like a mug or some chocolates.

Fab gift.

Unusual maybe, but I can’t see how it’s inappropriate.

I mean that is a bit weird but I'm a big David Tennant fan (not just Dr who but his Shakespeare stuff, casanova, la without a map) and I'd be made up with that.

I'd probably put it in my spare room with all my other nerdy stuff though (like replica star trek ships, rc r2d2, signed photos from various conventions etc)

My living room is quite ordinary and belies my true geeky essence so I wouldn't be displaying it for all to see.

As long as she likes it though you're on to a winner Grin

Pjsandbaileys · 30/01/2020 13:41

Haha brilliant! Do hope she drives to work though, could be an interesting train journey otherwise

RuffleCrow · 30/01/2020 13:42

Yabu. Make it the actual DT, or a very close double who can do The Doctor's voice, or don't bother Grin

Pollaidh · 30/01/2020 13:43

Can I have a real one?
