Getting a David Tennant

DonJonnellO · 30/01/2020 12:19

A co-worker of mine is a really big fan of David Tennant so for her birthday i bought her a 6ft cutout of David Tennant and gave it to her at work. Others have been saying its inappropriate or just weird.

Am i being unreasonable?

My birthday soon, can you get one for me? Its a fab present if she is a fan. Your workmates are just jealous Grin

very sad as I thought this was a thread about buying David Tennant clones, was very excited for a moment

AuntieMarys · 30/01/2020 13:48

I bought one for my friend ( not DT but another actor). She loves it. I have a 6 feet singer on my landing who scares the fuck out of guests or workmen.

RitaHayworthHair · 30/01/2020 13:50

Can I have a David Caves one?

Actually, can I just have David Caves?

Pleeeaaasssse.

UnexpectedCoatInThePost · 30/01/2020 13:56

It is a little unusual.
I wouldn't like it

(however, that may be because I once had a very inappropriate dream featuring DT, which led to me having to be extra nice to DH afterwards out of guilt)

GabsAlot · 30/01/2020 13:56

its my birthday today (honestly) can i have one please

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 30/01/2020 13:57

It’s fab! I’d love something like that.

Thedogscollar · 30/01/2020 13:58

Brilliant and original idea. I'm sure she us going to love it/him. I'd love a Daniel Craig oneWinkSmile

JaneJeffer · 30/01/2020 14:04

I saw a woman on Instagram who brings a cardboard cutout of the Outlander guy on her travels!

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/01/2020 14:07

I don’t get why it is inappropriate.... unless it has attachments. Wink

SunOnAll · 30/01/2020 14:09

Amazing gift!

Frothybothie · 30/01/2020 14:10

Tell her to put it in the window if she has problems with neighbours parking, building conservatives or huge glass windows.

Frothybothie · 30/01/2020 14:10

Conservatives - or conservatories? mebbe aye, maybe naw.

CakeandCustard28 · 30/01/2020 14:14

That is an awesome gift! Always good to think outside the box. Sod what anyone else thinks long as she liked it.

CrepuscularCritter · 30/01/2020 14:15

What a brilliant idea! I'm imagining your colleague didn't take him home on the Tube in rush hour...

BlueHarry · 30/01/2020 14:16

I'd love this. Don't know what I'd do with it and it would possibly end up in the recycling eventually, but I think it's a great idea. I'd find it funny if someone got that for me, and thoughtful.

Floribundance · 30/01/2020 14:17

Is it staying at work or does she have to get it home?

CountFosco · 30/01/2020 14:19

I don't see how it's inappropriate. Are they worried you are objectifying DT?

Awesome present, I have some workmates who would love that as a present. Loving the idea of taking him home on the bus Grin.

CaptainHammer · 30/01/2020 14:20

Someone bought me one for my birthday once, it was brilliant! I’m a big DT fan.
You obviously know her well enough to think she’d like it and as she seems happy with it I wouldn’t worry what anyone else thinks.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 30/01/2020 14:22

I work in a pub and when one of our lovely coworkers moved on to pastures new we made her a life size cut out of everyone’s favourite local. We all signed the back.

Apparently it lives in her spare room now and her drunken friends occasionally try to engage it in conversation.

A life-size cut-out of a pub?! That fits in her spare room?! And people try to talk to it?! Grin

Knittedfairies · 30/01/2020 14:26

Inappropriate in what way?

IsadoraQuagmire · 30/01/2020 14:27

It's a good present. I've got one of Xena...

ThatThereWoman · 30/01/2020 14:28

We had a life size cardboard cut out of Harry Styles hanging around our house for quite a long time. I'd say it's not a bad present - better than a bottle of prosecco and some truffles, that's for sure.

FilledSoda · 30/01/2020 14:38

What do they mean ' inappropriate' ?
Did they actually say that to you ?

SapphireSeptember · 30/01/2020 14:40

I love this idea. DT was my favourite Doctor and I loved him in Casanova.
I want one of Alan Rickman (as Professor Snape. Blush )

Rumnraisin · 30/01/2020 14:40

Laughing at the thought of them saying it is “inappropriate” whilst eyeing it up suspiciously!
