Bloody good on us.

How childish of the snp. You don’t see London doing this just because they voted no.

Newmetoday · 29/01/2020 18:46

They get voted in because of the tribalism. It’s whipped up to a frenzy

LagunaBubbles · 29/01/2020 18:47

But they are being constrained by the "Toaries" and the Westmonster government! They are taking all of Scotland's resources and giving a pittance in return! In an independent Scotland with Queen Nicola on her throne, no-one will pay any tax and we'll be the richest nation in Europe, nay the world! hmm

What a load of rubbish. No-one, least of all the SNP is under any illusions. Chances are when we get independence the SNP will break up anyway to. Still be a better option that being governed by the Tories.

ssd · 29/01/2020 18:48

If you want to see fuds, have a look at Nigel Farage, Ann Widdecombe and their Union Jack waving chums in the EU Parliament. Listen to Nigels speech.

Now you know what a fud looks like.

No

Love to know what the "pittance" is you think they're getting? Last i checked, Scottish residents had much more given to them in England.

BoxedWine · 29/01/2020 18:48

Odd the number of people feeling moved to point out that Scotland will still be leaving the EU, as if anything you had said suggested you were unaware of this OP.

LagunaBubbles · 29/01/2020 18:49

Keep telling yourself that. Ordinary everyday people, including the vast majority of people I know in the NHS voted for the SNP for various reasons, strangely "tribalism" isn't one of them! Grin

Jellykat · 29/01/2020 18:50

Fair play Scotland!

ssd · 29/01/2020 18:50

@RasberryRoyale, London doesn't have its own parliament. But if it did, they probably would join the Scots too. London voted to remain.

Strangerthingshere · 29/01/2020 18:51

I am scottish; and still wondering what the point is. We voted as part of the UK, which we chose to remain in, and the vote was to leave. We have to accept that whether we like it or not. This constant excuse for independence is making us all look like idiots. We had our chance.

John470322 · 29/01/2020 18:51

Like the majority in this country I voted to remain in the EU but we were ignored by an English parliament.
I am proud to be in Scotland

LagunaBubbles · 29/01/2020 18:52

And things change.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 29/01/2020 18:52

Yay Scotland! We didn’t want to leave the EU. And yet we’re being dragged out against our will.

Apolloanddaphne · 29/01/2020 18:52

I am Scottish and voted remain. I think flying the EU flag on Friday is a daft idea. It achieves nothing. We are leaving and that is that. I agree it makes us look like fuds.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/01/2020 18:52

How childish of the snp You don’t see London doing this just because they voted no

But predictable, wouldn't you say? Sad

It'll genuinely be interesting to see what happens, though, since the SNP want another referendum, Boris says no and Boris has a whacking great majority and no effective opposition for now

Interesting times and all that ...

RasberryRoyale · 29/01/2020 18:53

They did vote to remain I agree. But the question wasn’t Should Scotland leave the EU?
I didn’t vote to leave, but democracy has spoken. Something the SNP doesn’t respect. Unless it suits them.

I wish they would get on with running the country instead of wasting our money on things we already said No to.

RasberryRoyale · 29/01/2020 18:54

I agree, the snp and their constant whining of independence makes us look like twats. I’m embarrassed to be Scottish.

kaldefotter · 29/01/2020 18:55

*Just makes them look pathetic. Wants independence from England but run by the EU (not that they’d get in, mind you) Fine logic there.

Horrible party*

It's almost like you don't know much about Scottish history, Scottish politics, national governance, European governance, or the SNP.

nibdedibble · 29/01/2020 18:57

I think a lot of people have absolutely no idea of the average snp voter.

Not the flag-waving twats, the totally ordinary and politically engaged moderates.

Contempt oozes from every pore but whatever! If you’re not here, you can think what you like Grin

Strangerthingshere · 29/01/2020 18:58

@RasberryRoyale totally agree it is embarrassing.

StoneofDestiny · 29/01/2020 18:58

Scottish and proud here too 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇪🇺

Emmelina · 29/01/2020 19:02

I’m part Scottish, and I was proud. I even welled up when Auld Lang Syne was sung throughout the chambers.
Scottish history is full of hundreds of years of the fight for independence from the English government.

TeeniefaeTroon · 29/01/2020 19:04

Why are they flying the EU flag? I don't understand it 🤷🏻‍♀️
I also don't understand why the OP is so happy about it.

starberryhortcak · 29/01/2020 19:08

As someone who grew up in Wales but now lives in England, I feel doubly ashamed. Wales especially will go to the dogs now, the town I grew up got a lot of funding from the EU.

starberryhortcak · 29/01/2020 19:09

So good on the Scots, I say. Scotland and NI are very vocal about what they want (even if it is divided!) whereas Wales just seems to be hiding behind England like a scared child.
