to find it impossible to forgive Brexiters

mrsmootoo · 29/01/2020 16:53

Can't forgive Brexiters for voting Leave. Find it impossible to move on from this. If there are any positives about leaving EU (?!) they are far outweighed by Remaining. Brexit posts on social media are so aggressive and unpleasant - you lost get over it. Really concerned about my kids' prospects, not being able to travel/work abroad as easily etc.

No I am saying that I wanted out of the EU.
This was never expected to be possible, but my god it did, shock horror to DC the latent anti EU feeling in the UK shocked the government.
This may also to do with how the EU was heading, locking down on things, demanding ever more money, when people are worried and you tell them can leave , don't be surprised when they go.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 30/01/2020 19:55

@dimsum123
so you're saying you don't know what you voted for?

Where is the EU going to be in ten, or to use your own example, 50 years time? Do you know what you voted for?

Livelovebehappy · 30/01/2020 19:56

mummy2017 you’re shocked?? Clearly you never went on any of the Brexit threads on these boards over the last few years since the referendum. Trust me the personal insults on this thread are very tame in comparison. It’s just the typical frothing at the mouth stuff us Brexiteers have all become used to, and are amusing to watch as posters try to muster up some new insults to throw around. Most have now dwindled away, but you will get the odd very angry ones popping up on these posts now and again.

tenredthings · 30/01/2020 19:59

It's so ironic that the Britain first, sovereignty argument has been effectively used to pave the way for what will essentially be a global capitalist sell off of Britain's assets.

mummmy2017 · 30/01/2020 20:02

@Livelovebehappy
Holds hand up ,I caused some of the arguments on Brexit.
Being told tomorrow was a pipe dream, that would never happen.
Called names, but I respect the people who mellowed and now see that the blame game is not worth losing family.

larrygrylls · 30/01/2020 20:03

It is incredibly sad that this issue has been so divisive. In reality we are not sailing the uk away from Europe but merely changing (probably slightly) our trading relationship with the rest of the EU.

People will realise in ten years time that this really was not the massive issue it was made out to be. There will be some disadvantages and some advantages to being out and some winners and losers but net/net not that much will have changed.

Bunnyfuller · 30/01/2020 20:07

@mothertruck3r

The ills of the north weren’t caused by foreigners taking blue collar jobs. The fact that you cannot recruit a school leaver into learning a trade, or be prepared to work their way up, and do a load of bullshit degrees with no thought of what the degree qualifies them for.

Everyone wants the Xfactor life, and if they don’t get it, it’s someone’s fault. The UK was able to keep its head above water within a huge trading block, despite there being little we actually export. Now we will be on our own, manufacturing little anyone wants, and paying huge tariffs to sell what there is .

Wages aren’t going to go up, in the north or fucking anywhere (well, unless you’re playing the markets) but make no mistake the prices of the basics us mere mortals need are going to rocket. Because they’re not manufactured here. Because we can’t make them cheap enough. Because people want higher wages. Because everything is so expensive.

Are you getting it yet?!

hamstersarse · 30/01/2020 20:07

This thread really makes me pity you staunch remainers

So bitter and angry with a very large dose of catastrophic thinking.

The fact you still think you are right is embarrassing

Bunnyfuller · 30/01/2020 20:10

Never have I wanted to be wrong so much. Never. I hope for all our sakes I am.

dimsum123 · 30/01/2020 20:14

@BritneyPeedOnALadybug, what did you and @mummmy2017 vote for? @mummmy2017 has already admitted she didn't know what she voted for as she has no idea what's going to happen post December 2020.

mummmy2017 · 30/01/2020 20:15

I think MN has breed a few special kind of hard remainers.
Having others tell them they are right has clouded their minds, till abandonment of family and friends is actually seen as a normal thing to do.
The should I divorce my husband was funny.
Or I will never talk to my parents again.
Yet in real life I bet they do none of these things.

mummmy2017 · 30/01/2020 20:16

I voted to leave.
Once in a life time and all that, just like Scotland.

dimsum123 · 30/01/2020 20:19

I hope I'm wrong too. I do hope we thrive, and not after 50 years but from 1 January 2021. I don't want to waste years of my life or my DCs to waste years waiting and waiting for the UK to transform into the land of milk and honey.

I really want the Brexiteers to be right, probably even more than they do.

CareBear50 · 30/01/2020 20:22

Grow up OP. Brexit Might not be ideal but time to build a bridge and get over it OP

theunknownknown · 30/01/2020 20:22

Actually I think you'll find it is the leavers that are full of prejudice.
And small mindedness.
Their triumphalism and aggression is astounding given that they talk of moving forward and what's done is done and we need to make the best of it. I see nothing conciliatory toward remainers.
And as for hatred, well frankly, I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than spend time with a leave voter.
hamstersarse
Don't bother saving an ounce of your faux pity for me. Save it for the useful idiots who voted for this who are going to be hit hardest by it.
They'll need all the pity they can get.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 30/01/2020 20:23

@dimsum123 I asked you my question first. Where will the EU be in 50 years time? Do you know?

KenDodd · 30/01/2020 20:29

09:01 @BonnesVacances

Completely agree.

mummmy2017 · 30/01/2020 20:32

theunknownknown
Everyday you talk to a leaver, you just don't know it.

KenDodd · 30/01/2020 20:32

Actually I think you'll find it is the leavers that are full of prejudice.

As I said up thread, look at their song.

Leavers - 17 million fuck offs
Remainers- Ode to Joy

Tells you everything you need to know really.

Anxious1013 · 30/01/2020 20:35

So bitter and angry - no, just sad and empty, as Leavers would be if they had lost a cherished citizenship and sense of belonging.

Quite apart from everything else that leaving the EU will mean.

I have no idea why Leavers like Johnson (is he fuck, he got on that bandwagon purely to get his lazy incompetent hands on power, which he has now done) now want “unity”. The last three years have been anything but unifying.

Remainers can keep quiet for now, but demanding “unity” in this deeply divided country is nothing more than a slap in the face.

mummmy2017 · 30/01/2020 20:37

No I am not part of No 10 , so I know I know nothing.
But I trust a bus driver, train driver, pilot to be qualified to be in charge.
So I trust Boris to move us forward.

hamstersarse · 30/01/2020 20:39

Retainers can keep quiet for now, but demanding “unity” in this deeply divided country is nothing more than a slap in the face.

What is there that a leave voter could do to create a sense of unity with you?
What do you need them to do?
How could the relationships be repaired?

I’m really interested to know this.

dimsum123 · 30/01/2020 20:41

@BritneyPeedOnALadybug, actually I think you'll find I asked mummmy2017 first. Scroll back.

The truth is none of the Brexiteers have the faintest idea what's going to happen post December 2020. Do you?

KenDodd · 30/01/2020 20:41

I trust Boris

Seriously?

BoneyBackJefferson · 30/01/2020 20:42

theunknownknown

So small minded that you can't even see it.

KenDodd

A song that you have allotted us to fit your narrative. How progressive.
