to find it impossible to forgive Brexiters

mrsmootoo · 29/01/2020 16:53

Can't forgive Brexiters for voting Leave. Find it impossible to move on from this. If there are any positives about leaving EU (?!) they are far outweighed by Remaining. Brexit posts on social media are so aggressive and unpleasant - you lost get over it. Really concerned about my kids' prospects, not being able to travel/work abroad as easily etc.

@Alexandernevermind abhorrent? Are you pissed? Saying you won't forgive people who disagree with you is abhorrent? Tell that to those who suffered in the Holocaust. You're a walloper

Miljea · 29/01/2020 22:54

bunny I agree. The 'working person' seems genetically programmed to cap doff at the toff. I mean, how otherwise could anyone take that clown, BoJo, with his puppet master so openly pulling the strings- seriously?

I live in the soft, rolling hills of southern Hampshire. Tory land. Someone posted on the local small, comfortable market town's FB page asking for examples of poor town pavement maintenance. In order to rant.

All but no one who responded could make the intellectual leap from 'I voted Tory, I voted Leave' to grasping 'the council have no cash/the council have no workmen'. 10 years into local Tory control, let alone national.

Maybe they need to move to, say Wakefield, where they're paving the streets with gold. Allegedly.

Miljea · 29/01/2020 22:57

bulebel um/ to find someone who disagrees with you 'abhorrent' might depend on the disagreement, mighten it?

To say I prefer red roses, you prefer white- is one disagreement.

To say I think all Jews must die, you I would hope would disagree. While finding my view abhorrent.

Nonnymum · 29/01/2020 23:00

the vote had been to Remain that would have been the end of it. It
No it really wouldn't. Before the referendum Result Farage said if remain won by a small. Majority (52%) he would fight for another referendum because it would not be conclusive) the euro sceptics have been shouting and screaming since the first referendum in the 70s voted for us to stay in.

katseyes7 · 29/01/2020 23:06

Miljea l live in Wakefield. l'm looking forward to the council lorries turning up with the gold paving.... although l expect it'll put my council tax up again. l shan't be holding my breath, though. Grin

Does it ever enter Remainers heads that one of the reasons Leave won was because the campaign for Remain could not give good enough reasons to Remain?
Did it ever enter Leavers' heads that the reasons that the government couldn't put up a robust campaign to remain was because it would undermine their constant fucking rhetoric and lies that the EU was to blame for all the ills of this country. When in actual fact it was tory policies.
I agree with you OP. In the main it was a racist vote. And I also hope that those that voted for this suffer the hardest of losses.
And before leavers berate me for this, hear this, I couldn't give a shit what you think. You all disgust me.

mummmy2017 · 29/01/2020 23:13

Since people of every race voted for is to exit the EU, exactly who was it racist against?

Peregrina · 29/01/2020 23:15

Well, mummmy you need to find the person who hopes that buses will come and round up immigrants. I would strongly suspect that the majority have black or brown faces.

theunknownknown · 29/01/2020 23:16

Fair, I have always accepted that not every Leave voter is/was racist.
But I'm pretty confident every racist voted leave.
You lie with dogs you get fleas.

raskolnikova · 29/01/2020 23:16

This really bothers me too. In contrast to dual EU citizens my DCs will be at a disadvantage in the job market post uni. That's shit and I haven't heard anyone addressing it as an issue at all.

Someone I know's DH voted leave and she voted remain. Then she went to apply for Irish citizenship for her DC's after the vote. Husband was happy about that though. Bit like Nigel F and his kids

I have to say, sometimes I feel like the only remainer/rejoiner/Briton without an Irish or other EU passport too. So many people can say 'At least I have an Irish passport, so I'll be okay', and yes, it's hard not to feel bitter about it when even Farage's family of all people get to keep on being EU citizens. UK-only passport holders are going to become second-class citizens imminently, maybe I should start a support group...

SomethingOnce · 29/01/2020 23:16

Love how the vote on this thread is currently 52% 48% Grin

mummmy2017 · 29/01/2020 23:19

So now you are say a small number but not all, were racist.
So why tar everyone?

theunknownknown · 29/01/2020 23:20

Yes raskolnikova
The most galling being the leave voters who found a convenient second nationality. I work with one of the hypocrites.

mummmy2017 · 29/01/2020 23:22

Can you not see , there have been so many votes, elections, court cases ect. Yet still we face leaving on Friday, does that not tell you something?

theunknownknown · 29/01/2020 23:22

Well, I actually think they all are.
But I've been told by my remain family members that that probably isn't fair to say. So I reluctantly concede that there may be some that are not.
But I don't really think that is the case.
And if someone did vote brexit who is not racist, they are by association because of their disgusting bedfellows.

Cattenberg · 29/01/2020 23:24

UK-only passport holders are going to become second-class citizens imminently.

Yep. We’re second-class citizens in our one and only country. We’re so British that we’re screwed.

theunknownknown · 29/01/2020 23:25

Yes, it tells me that I live in a deluded, backward looking, insular, racist country.
And yes, I am considering leaving.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 29/01/2020 23:25

I'd join that support group @raskolnikova.

Peregrina · 29/01/2020 23:25

I don't have any problems with Remainers applying for Irish or other EU passports. I do when Leavers do it. Where is their faith in the wonderful future for this country, that they feel the need to have another passport?

The pity of it is, I can't rustle up any suitable connections myself, and am not rich enough to buy a Maltese passport.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 29/01/2020 23:27

Yep. We’re second-class citizens in our one and only country. We’re so British that we’re screwed.

AlexaShutUp · 29/01/2020 23:29

Sorry, haven't read the thread but I just voted, and how ironic - 52% say YABU and 48% say YANBU.

I can't forgive the 52% either, OP. I don't think I will ever forgive them.

ineedaholidaynow · 29/01/2020 23:30

Why would someone vote for something that might make things better in 100 years? You have a baby and you vote for something that will make their life and everyone of that generation harder - why?

raskolnikova · 29/01/2020 23:33

We’re so British that we’re screwed.

Well that's the name of our group right there.

The 'So British We're Screwed' Support Society.

Have to keep it secret from the Britain First/UKIP-type people, otherwise they might want to mingle/procreate with us.

theunknownknown · 29/01/2020 23:33

ineed
Because, you know, blue passports and sovereignty.
And unicorns.
I'm planning to stay in all day on Saturday waiting for mine to be delivered.

Peregrina · 29/01/2020 23:33

You vote in the happy chance that things might be better for your great grandchildren!
