See diagram below. I WFH and have no life but I'm pretty sure this will be entertaining to the Mumsnet parking thread folk!

House A, no car but X denotes the allocated disabled spot so he can be collected via a side entrance from his house.
House B, one car, has to park with car door level with front door, meaning she always uses space 1&2. Most people are afraid to park here. If someone does, she parks touching their bumper, in some kind of laying down the law attempt and stands there shouting "who's is this?" and similar nonsense.
House C, one car but not usually home, so is either forced to park in space X or further along from X, where there are two spaces in front of a garage.
House D, one car. Usually gets home first so gets space 3.
House E, house with drive.
House F, car but no drive. Usually parks in space 4.
House G, H, I, J have drives.
House K have two cars and no drive. They have been frequently told they are taking over the street and are not allowed to park in space 5, as it blocks house Gs drive and does not allow House F to park in space 4. I do point out that this has the same impact as house F parking in space 4 on me, but apparently not.
House L, house with drive (me).
House M, drive but no car.
House N, house with drive.

Houses B, F, G and M frequently have street gossips/meetings/bitching sessions declaring that people who haven't lived here for a billion years like them, are taking over, who do they think they are, they can't just park where they like etc etc.

So, if you're still with me, this brings me to today. In a spectacular turn of events, house K, who give no shits about fake parking laws, have parked in space 4. Their other car is further along in front of garage, as well as an unknown car.

House F have now come home parked kind of across both X and space 1 (basically leaving house Bs usual space for them). They are watching non stop to ensure they get their space back.

Very unusually, house C is home and has parked in space 2.

So. There is no space left in the street and house B, the most precious and hysterical have nowhere to park. They will return at 10pm.

This actually keeps me entertained daily. Sad I know.

oooh place marking

PlumsGalore · 28/01/2020 21:22

So only K is a problem?

WheresMyChocolate · 28/01/2020 21:22

bought some paint and did it himself
Didn't Jack Duckworth do that in Corry?

Dunno, I don't watch it. But he did so maybe that's where he got the idea.

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 21:23

@ThatDreamSheep there is no logical reason except she's lived here longer and that's how she does it. She also has no reason to tell K that they are taking over the street and aren't allowed to park, but she does!

@TendsToHappen because X is the only actual legal parking space in all this, and only A can park in it.

@wheresmychocolate please could you knock on one of your Mum’s neighbours’ doors and ask them to come on MN and do a parking thread for us? Grin

mummmy2017 · 28/01/2020 21:25

Looks fun

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 21:26

@WheresMyChocolate  she's fit in perfectly!

I hope that B comes home early so I can go to bed soon Grin

MaggieFS · 28/01/2020 21:27

Who's parked in 5 at the moment then?

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 21:28

@PlumsGalore K is the perceived problem, really they are just parking where they like because that's the actual law. B and F are the trouble makers. There are enough spaces for all the cars if they play nicely.

Ha ha at this thread. I agree with whoever says if your house doesn’t have a drive, too bad, you have to park wherever and people can’t make up spaces which are ‘theirs’

Parking, it really gets people going! We have a large drive, tf.

2020newme · 28/01/2020 21:29

This is playing havoc with my dyspraxia but are you saying that "F" has parked partially in a disabled space? How shitty of them.

Waterandlemonjuice · 28/01/2020 21:29

Is K the 2 car family who give no fucks about made up parking rules? I like ‘em!

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 21:30

@flouncyfanny funnily enough we had roadworks here on Sunday (I know!!) and B came out and moved the cones and red triangles away from her house.

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 21:31

@MaggieFS 4 and 5 can't be used at the same time as it's a small residential street.

Fairenuff · 28/01/2020 21:32

Ah, I wasn't sure if X was completely blocked. That would make F a CF then for blocking access to disabled parking.

Ah ok. I thought people just complained about it, not that it wasn't possible.

mummmy2017 · 28/01/2020 21:33

Love the strange car has stolen the garage space.

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 21:33

@2020newme yes, F are parked in X, but only half of it, like they were too scared to use 1 fully, as half of it belongs to B.

OP posts:
MrsEricBana · 28/01/2020 21:33

Not at all relevant but my really nice neighbours have just gone away for a month leaving their car parked right across the front of my house and sort of making an unusable space at the end when parking is tricky as it is. Can't even say anything as they are REALLY nice. Bugger.

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 21:35

@Waterandlemonjuice yes they are. They are quite new and I love them! They closed the door in Fs face when F knocked on their door the week they moved in, to say that the way they were parking had to stop, as they were taking over the street and who did they think they were.
