See diagram below. I WFH and have no life but I'm pretty sure this will be entertaining to the Mumsnet parking thread folk!

House A, no car but X denotes the allocated disabled spot so he can be collected via a side entrance from his house.
House B, one car, has to park with car door level with front door, meaning she always uses space 1&2. Most people are afraid to park here. If someone does, she parks touching their bumper, in some kind of laying down the law attempt and stands there shouting "who's is this?" and similar nonsense.
House C, one car but not usually home, so is either forced to park in space X or further along from X, where there are two spaces in front of a garage.
House D, one car. Usually gets home first so gets space 3.
House E, house with drive.
House F, car but no drive. Usually parks in space 4.
House G, H, I, J have drives.
House K have two cars and no drive. They have been frequently told they are taking over the street and are not allowed to park in space 5, as it blocks house Gs drive and does not allow House F to park in space 4. I do point out that this has the same impact as house F parking in space 4 on me, but apparently not.
House L, house with drive (me).
House M, drive but no car.
House N, house with drive.

Houses B, F, G and M frequently have street gossips/meetings/bitching sessions declaring that people who haven't lived here for a billion years like them, are taking over, who do they think they are, they can't just park where they like etc etc.

So, if you're still with me, this brings me to today. In a spectacular turn of events, house K, who give no shits about fake parking laws, have parked in space 4. Their other car is further along in front of garage, as well as an unknown car.

House F have now come home parked kind of across both X and space 1 (basically leaving house Bs usual space for them). They are watching non stop to ensure they get their space back.

Very unusually, house C is home and has parked in space 2.

So. There is no space left in the street and house B, the most precious and hysterical have nowhere to park. They will return at 10pm.

This actually keeps me entertained daily. Sad I know.

I had a skip on my drive once and had to park in space 1. Someone wrote the c word in the dirt on the bonnet.

I really think you should redo the diagram with drives and number of cars....

MsMD · 28/01/2020 20:45

Ooh settling in.

Are the spaces actual marked spaces? Or just where people usually park? And if marked are they belonging to the house in question or just their 'usual' spaces?

GabriellaMontez · 28/01/2020 20:46

House B is finally going to get what she deserves.

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 20:46

@Thestrangestthing me too. As soon as K parked in 4 this afternoon, I laughed out loud, knowing what drama would later unfold.

People with no drives and no allocated/official/paid for parking spaces have no say on where they or anybody else parks. That's it.

Please suggest to B that she approaches M (drive but no car) and ask if she can rent her parking space - paying a suitable annual amount commensurate which the extra price the people with drives paid for their properties, because they had off-street parking.

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 20:47

@MsMD no, only X is an official space. The numbers show the only places cars could park. So in reality, there are enough spaces if B didn't need to use two spaces.

OP posts:
originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 20:49

@GabriellaMontez I also feel like F have what they deserve, since they kept telling K they weren't allowed to park in 5

bitheby · 28/01/2020 20:50

I can see all the diagrams. Got lost with the description mind you.

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 20:50

@Findumdum1 L are elderly and family/nurses/visitors use their drive constantly so not an option. Also, B would be even further from her front door then 🤣

OP posts:
originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 20:52

@bitheby basically K have parked in Fs "space" so B will have nowhere to park when she returns and will go CRAZY.

Gooseysgirl · 28/01/2020 20:52

How does parking in space 5 block G's drive if it's the other side of the road?

stitchwitch85 · 28/01/2020 20:52

Am totally here for this, just going to get my gin.

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 20:53

@Gooseysgirl yes exactly. Especially since F normally park in 4 - does that not block my drive then???

I could just press follow but this is too delicious not to make my presence on this thread known.

FAQs · 28/01/2020 20:54

Place marking for 9.55 pm

Thestrangestthing · 28/01/2020 20:55

Yup, I do love a bit of street drama. My street used to be very quiet. No business at the top of the road, and most of the people who lived here were elderly, quiet and didn't have cars. Now it's getting more dramatic every year as new people move in Grin

FAQs · 28/01/2020 20:55

There is a follow button? Where?!

strawberry2017 · 28/01/2020 20:55

I feel like you need to update the diagram to show which houses are ones with drives as I've completely lost track!
😂

IndieTara · 28/01/2020 20:57

Yes!! Update the diagram

BitOfFun · 28/01/2020 20:57

I'll try to post the diagram for you, saved from the app.

TopOftheNaughtyList · 28/01/2020 20:58

OP, could you go out around 10pm when B is due home to put out your recycling, but have your camera ready to capture the action?

Mulledwineinajug · 28/01/2020 21:00

Place marking for when Parking Pillock B gets home

PutYourLipsTogetherAndBlow · 28/01/2020 21:02
