See diagram below. I WFH and have no life but I'm pretty sure this will be entertaining to the Mumsnet parking thread folk!

House A, no car but X denotes the allocated disabled spot so he can be collected via a side entrance from his house.
House B, one car, has to park with car door level with front door, meaning she always uses space 1&2. Most people are afraid to park here. If someone does, she parks touching their bumper, in some kind of laying down the law attempt and stands there shouting "who's is this?" and similar nonsense.
House C, one car but not usually home, so is either forced to park in space X or further along from X, where there are two spaces in front of a garage.
House D, one car. Usually gets home first so gets space 3.
House E, house with drive.
House F, car but no drive. Usually parks in space 4.
House G, H, I, J have drives.
House K have two cars and no drive. They have been frequently told they are taking over the street and are not allowed to park in space 5, as it blocks house Gs drive and does not allow House F to park in space 4. I do point out that this has the same impact as house F parking in space 4 on me, but apparently not.
House L, house with drive (me).
House M, drive but no car.
House N, house with drive.

Houses B, F, G and M frequently have street gossips/meetings/bitching sessions declaring that people who haven't lived here for a billion years like them, are taking over, who do they think they are, they can't just park where they like etc etc.

So, if you're still with me, this brings me to today. In a spectacular turn of events, house K, who give no shits about fake parking laws, have parked in space 4. Their other car is further along in front of garage, as well as an unknown car.

House F have now come home parked kind of across both X and space 1 (basically leaving house Bs usual space for them). They are watching non stop to ensure they get their space back.

Very unusually, house C is home and has parked in space 2.

So. There is no space left in the street and house B, the most precious and hysterical have nowhere to park. They will return at 10pm.

This actually keeps me entertained daily. Sad I know.

This thread has just got me through THREE root canals in the past 24 hours. Honestly I would have hacked my own face off to relieve the pain.

Marvellous OP!

originalcatlady · 30/01/2020 12:48

Yes it is! And it hasn't moved for days now 🤔

Marmalade on toast, what flavour marmalade?

Iwantacookie · 30/01/2020 12:55

B is batshit. I think you should print off loads of how to park for idiots and post them through her door.

Alfr · 30/01/2020 12:58

I would be very tempted to superglue leave a large note on B's car, that says "Please use one parking space. Your selfish parking is causing problems for other residents.

MaggieFS · 30/01/2020 13:14

@Alfr Yes, I've definitely been rooting for B to get her comeuppance as part of all this.

Actually OP, can you and Mrs K, or any other allies start having very loud conversations in the street along the lines of 'yes, it's such a terrible shame B has such a difficult car to park and needs to use two space. Of course I'm sure she does her best poor love and it can't be helped, but it does make life difficult. Still, I'm sure it can't be helped, poor love, it must be so difficult getting old'.

accessorizequeen · 30/01/2020 13:33

I couldn't catch up until now but it was worth it! Yes but is it touching? Classic Mumsnet line for years I think! 😂

Greenkit · 30/01/2020 13:34

@MaggieFS brilliant idea

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/01/2020 13:41

Marmalade on toast, what flavour marmalade?

I hope it's lime.

If it's lime marmalade, I'll buy them.

DanceItOut · 30/01/2020 13:44

Goodness by tonight this may need a second thread. Honestly part of me feels this could be added to classics on Bs complaint to the council that someone had 2 cars alone 😂 it is brilliant that she actually thinks she has the right to control how anyone parks on a street, considering the one that takes up space for two most of the time is her!

Ineedanap90 · 30/01/2020 14:17

Just read through the whole thread and am fully invested we have a crazy parking lady two doors down she actually challenged me on my sons birthday to ask why I'm moving my car.. I was reversing it back to outside mine so she could park outside hers as we both have little ones.. Trying to be considerate.. She just went red muttered okay and stomped back in.. She's crazy she gets her husband up at 4am to move the car two space forward if mine of next doors dh leave for work she will leg it as soon as someone moves to make sure she is outside.. Parks bumper to bumper even when plenty of space just to make sure her door is outside her house. Constantly watches through her window whenever we go out. Will park in the middle of a two car space blocking it for others just so she is directly outside hers. She doesn't work so perhaps this is her joy in life.. I feel a bit sorry for her. She also frequently curbs the car and hits others bumpers (no damage) her parking is atrocious.. We have another neighbour who must park on the end no matter what.. Its all very odd...So it's nice the parking drama is not just contained to my road at least ha can't wait for tonights antics.. Firmly rooting for Mr and Mrs K

I love this thread. Nothing beats a parking one. I admit I skipped a few posts while looking for thr OP. Has nobody found it odd C waited 45 mins to get a space rather than park elsewhere?

originalcatlady · 30/01/2020 15:14

She sits in her car all the time anyway. A good hour and more when getting home from work at 9/10pm. She's a bit odd.

Bootikin · 30/01/2020 15:15

I used to live on a street like this, it was awful at the time, yet I am hugely enjoying this.

OP can we please have a new thread when this is full?

Voting for “Alphabet Street: the Unbearable Tenseness of Parking” as a title.

SisterFarAway · 30/01/2020 15:23

Somehow B reminds me of my aunt's neighbour who also thinks she "owns" a specific parking spot on the street and threw a right old tantrum because I had parked there and she had to walk 10 metres more. I just told her, well, seeing as you have a car port, you should've parked there. Shut her right up.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/01/2020 15:23

An Alexander McCall Smith fan, Bootikin?

VenusClapTrap · 30/01/2020 15:26

Is it a Tesla? If so she could be In there watching Netflix or playing Beach Buggy Racing.

YasssKween · 30/01/2020 15:28

But but but how does she go mad at everyone when she is the one taking up two spaces with one car?!

Has nobody pointed this out when she's giving out?!

I'm so over invested in this thread it's ridiculous.

originalcatlady · 30/01/2020 16:03

Only one person has ever been brave enough. Then they moved out.

Did B tell you that? Sounds suspiciously like when my parents told me our dog went to "live on a farm"...

I hear B has connections in local government - she's definitely uttered the phrase "I've thought of running for local MP many times over the years".

originalcatlady · 30/01/2020 16:20

Haha no I was friends with D. They had enough of her and moved.

originalcatlady · 30/01/2020 16:21

Soooo who's settling in for this evening...

D made it home first. He has 3.
F hasn't moved since she reclaimed 4.

And in a very exciting turn of events there's not one but TWO Strange Cars along from X.

Ooh - how exciting. I’m
Also quite excited by the usual biscuits suggestions. Big fan of both cherry bake well and custard creams here!

letmebefrank · 30/01/2020 16:27

Another evening of parking may require a new thread soon...

Oddgirlout · 30/01/2020 16:39

I’m in this evening! DH out at work, will pack kids off to bed. Feet up, brew in hands. I’ll be ready!
