See diagram below. I WFH and have no life but I'm pretty sure this will be entertaining to the Mumsnet parking thread folk!

House A, no car but X denotes the allocated disabled spot so he can be collected via a side entrance from his house.
House B, one car, has to park with car door level with front door, meaning she always uses space 1&2. Most people are afraid to park here. If someone does, she parks touching their bumper, in some kind of laying down the law attempt and stands there shouting "who's is this?" and similar nonsense.
House C, one car but not usually home, so is either forced to park in space X or further along from X, where there are two spaces in front of a garage.
House D, one car. Usually gets home first so gets space 3.
House E, house with drive.
House F, car but no drive. Usually parks in space 4.
House G, H, I, J have drives.
House K have two cars and no drive. They have been frequently told they are taking over the street and are not allowed to park in space 5, as it blocks house Gs drive and does not allow House F to park in space 4. I do point out that this has the same impact as house F parking in space 4 on me, but apparently not.
House L, house with drive (me).
House M, drive but no car.
House N, house with drive.

Houses B, F, G and M frequently have street gossips/meetings/bitching sessions declaring that people who haven't lived here for a billion years like them, are taking over, who do they think they are, they can't just park where they like etc etc.

So, if you're still with me, this brings me to today. In a spectacular turn of events, house K, who give no shits about fake parking laws, have parked in space 4. Their other car is further along in front of garage, as well as an unknown car.

House F have now come home parked kind of across both X and space 1 (basically leaving house Bs usual space for them). They are watching non stop to ensure they get their space back.

Very unusually, house C is home and has parked in space 2.

So. There is no space left in the street and house B, the most precious and hysterical have nowhere to park. They will return at 10pm.

This actually keeps me entertained daily. Sad I know.

Oh dang I've just been catching up and am strangely disappointed that I've reached the current end of the thread.
Go MrK!

Oh I so hope when they confront K about taking over the street, she fixes them with a cold stare and says menacingly “That’s right, I am” and then shuts the door.

Happilyinsane · 29/01/2020 19:14

Obvious placemark Wine love a good parking trend 🙏🍕🍷

Smilingthru · 29/01/2020 19:15

TurduckenFucken · 29/01/2020 19:16

Atilathehunter · 29/01/2020 19:19

Have been reading this agog on a flight from a work trip. Got to page 8 and tried to go to page 9 and sure enough, No Service. I’ve just landed and it’s literally the first thing I’ve done. Now where was I.

TopOftheNaughtyList · 29/01/2020 19:19

But you said crazy neighbour B likes to park in 1 & 2. Is she going to go ape shit if C has nabbed 2?

Ken1976 · 29/01/2020 19:21

@fairenuff. If you read the regulations anybody at all can use one of a street parking disabled space like that one. It’s fine seeing that the person doesn’t have a car , BUT if a car arrives for said disabled person then of course they move pretty quick. I wouldn’t imagine the disabled person would be going out after 9.30pm but I could be wrong

IBelieveInPink · 29/01/2020 19:22

Please tell us where you live OP so we can all come and park in random spots.

Ooh we could have a rota

And a spreadsheet

Gogolego · 29/01/2020 19:26

This is amazing

Not often do I came along late to a thread and read the whole thing through in absolute stitches

originalcatlady · 29/01/2020 19:27

@TopOftheNaughtyList she won't go apeshit with C. She'll just do passive aggressive bumper parking too and C will never get out in the morning 🤣

Next time you feel down, IBelieve, get someone to cheer you up with a nice rota. 😝

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/01/2020 19:31

He also has a hobby I couldn’t possibly say is Golf as it’s too outing.

Phew!

What a relief you didn't mention his cycling hobby, too!

EVERYBODY would have known who he was.

Especially if you had happened to mention that you also have a garden - I mean, what are the odds?

Why do people get so worked up about parking? Due to an unexpected works van parking in front of next door on Friday afternoon, next door parked in front of ours. Then our visitor arrived and parked in front of the house on the other side. This continued as everyone came home except my husband. The works van moved just before he came home so he parked in that space. Saw a couple of neighbours dog walking in the evening and they were laughing and saying it was like one of those puzzles where you have to shift the cars in the right order to get the last one out. No-one got upset or offended.

YeOldeTrout · 29/01/2020 19:38

Do we have to wait until 10pm for B to get home, again?
I'm Not invested nope Not Me

BinkySodPlop · 29/01/2020 19:39

It's obviously a double-bluff, re: hobbies, because it's sticks, not bats, as any fule kno.

BinkySodPlop · 29/01/2020 19:40

Sorry - that was blatant place marking! 🙂

yellowallpaper · 29/01/2020 19:45

You could print out google maps and put little toy cars along the road to add interest?

I would so enjoy watching bonkers woman have a meltdown when she can't park. We all have drives but some bastards still park on the road and leave driveways empty 🤔

The fact that this is a thing is amazing. My street has double yellow lines along some of it and most properties have at least one car. So by the time you take into consideration many people can't park outside their houses anyway there about 2 cars per spot. I've had to park a 10 minute walk away before now. Just try not to go out after 7pm if I can avoid it.
