See diagram below. I WFH and have no life but I'm pretty sure this will be entertaining to the Mumsnet parking thread folk!

House A, no car but X denotes the allocated disabled spot so he can be collected via a side entrance from his house.
House B, one car, has to park with car door level with front door, meaning she always uses space 1&2. Most people are afraid to park here. If someone does, she parks touching their bumper, in some kind of laying down the law attempt and stands there shouting "who's is this?" and similar nonsense.
House C, one car but not usually home, so is either forced to park in space X or further along from X, where there are two spaces in front of a garage.
House D, one car. Usually gets home first so gets space 3.
House E, house with drive.
House F, car but no drive. Usually parks in space 4.
House G, H, I, J have drives.
House K have two cars and no drive. They have been frequently told they are taking over the street and are not allowed to park in space 5, as it blocks house Gs drive and does not allow House F to park in space 4. I do point out that this has the same impact as house F parking in space 4 on me, but apparently not.
House L, house with drive (me).
House M, drive but no car.
House N, house with drive.

Houses B, F, G and M frequently have street gossips/meetings/bitching sessions declaring that people who haven't lived here for a billion years like them, are taking over, who do they think they are, they can't just park where they like etc etc.

So, if you're still with me, this brings me to today. In a spectacular turn of events, house K, who give no shits about fake parking laws, have parked in space 4. Their other car is further along in front of garage, as well as an unknown car.

House F have now come home parked kind of across both X and space 1 (basically leaving house Bs usual space for them). They are watching non stop to ensure they get their space back.

Very unusually, house C is home and has parked in space 2.

So. There is no space left in the street and house B, the most precious and hysterical have nowhere to park. They will return at 10pm.

This actually keeps me entertained daily. Sad I know.

After dh has finished cooking dinner I will let him read this (well I was to busy reading to cook -he is a better cook than me Grin)

Rainbowsparkle · 29/01/2020 18:06

We aren’t allowed a drive because the telephone post just touches our border. Absolute ridiculousness.
I go to work Very early in the morning but am home early so usually get space in front of my house.
Neighbour opposite has drive and will park in space so his car is on our cctv and leave his drive free. So I end up having to park a 5 minute walk away as pretty much every house has a drive. Does my head in. Got so petty I saw him coming out of his house to turn car round as he likes to face end of road so i sprinted to my car and grabbed space first 😂😂😂

LakieLady · 29/01/2020 18:07

Wow these people have no lives or real excitement or stress do they?

Says one of god knows how many MNers, eagerly reading about people they don't even know! Grin

Great thread, OP.

HugoSpritz

There isn’t an actual department for excess parking or residents not parking in the correct order

But CSA usually deal with anything of that nature

Permit parking is suggested
Contacting their county councillors
Contacting neighbourhood police

And smile sweetly whilst thinking thank goodness I have nice neighbors

RainbowAlicorn · 29/01/2020 18:09

I have read this entire thread, I really hop Mr K gets back first.

RainbowAlicorn · 29/01/2020 18:09

*hope not hop

Pritchyx · 29/01/2020 18:15

Sounds like where I live if I’m honest! Except minimal number of spaces and a very pedantic older couple with 4 cars and only 2 drivers in their household. I can sense WW3 kicking off imminently between us all...

skodadoda · 29/01/2020 18:20

@NurseButtercup I have porridge with blueberries for breakfast 😀

DanceItOut · 29/01/2020 18:22

Well...I wasn't expecting this to end up as hilarious as it has been. I think B must haven't learnt to drive from the same instructor as my neighbour. She has had the same car and same parking space for 11 years but still can't park in it for shit. I often film her 22 point parking manoeuvres to send to famil and friends for a laugh.

YasssKween · 29/01/2020 18:22

I'm very much imagining Mr and Mrs B to be Mr and Mrs Bennett in the old beeb Pride and Prejudice.

Her nerves, her NERVES!

That’s a relief @originalcatlady! I’m wondering if my Mr K is the Mr K? He works different hours & does sports & stuff. He also has a hobby I couldn’t possibly say is Golf as it’s too outing.

Comes as quite a shock when it’s calmly explained its a public road & anyone can store there car for free unless there are parking restrictions.

If she does report, I really hope the council officer who deals with it is an MNer and posts a thread about Mrs B-Is-For-Batshit!

Come On Mr K!

DanceItOut · 29/01/2020 18:33

@flouncyfanny I did see that. Fortunately there is nothing behind my neighbours space for her to hit. Which is good because she reverses until her wheels hit the curb. It's hilarious because she does that thing where people go too far one way, pull all the way forward and try again and end up all the way the other way and all the way out again and repeat. The concept of correcting as you go is just lost on some people.

northernlittledonkey · 29/01/2020 18:34

Mr K, Mr K, Mr K, forget having a life and sports etc, we need you home man!

LakieLady · 29/01/2020 18:40

Mr K, will you please get your arse in gear and hurry home!

Mesoavocado · 29/01/2020 18:43

Fascinating thread. We don't have enough driveway parking in our street but are nice enough to each other to park wherever is free and not blocking

GabsAlot · 29/01/2020 18:48

mr k come on youre getting out of order now

allthesharks · 29/01/2020 18:52

OP, can you invite a friend with a car over to visit so they have to park in the one remaining space?

MrsK · 29/01/2020 19:01

flouncyfanny thank God I didn’t mention his other hobby is cycling, I’d have doubly outed myself 😂. Great name btw

EnidBlyton · 29/01/2020 19:02

Waves to Mrs K
