See diagram below. I WFH and have no life but I'm pretty sure this will be entertaining to the Mumsnet parking thread folk!

House A, no car but X denotes the allocated disabled spot so he can be collected via a side entrance from his house.
House B, one car, has to park with car door level with front door, meaning she always uses space 1&2. Most people are afraid to park here. If someone does, she parks touching their bumper, in some kind of laying down the law attempt and stands there shouting "who's is this?" and similar nonsense.
House C, one car but not usually home, so is either forced to park in space X or further along from X, where there are two spaces in front of a garage.
House D, one car. Usually gets home first so gets space 3.
House E, house with drive.
House F, car but no drive. Usually parks in space 4.
House G, H, I, J have drives.
House K have two cars and no drive. They have been frequently told they are taking over the street and are not allowed to park in space 5, as it blocks house Gs drive and does not allow House F to park in space 4. I do point out that this has the same impact as house F parking in space 4 on me, but apparently not.
House L, house with drive (me).
House M, drive but no car.
House N, house with drive.

Houses B, F, G and M frequently have street gossips/meetings/bitching sessions declaring that people who haven't lived here for a billion years like them, are taking over, who do they think they are, they can't just park where they like etc etc.

So, if you're still with me, this brings me to today. In a spectacular turn of events, house K, who give no shits about fake parking laws, have parked in space 4. Their other car is further along in front of garage, as well as an unknown car.

House F have now come home parked kind of across both X and space 1 (basically leaving house Bs usual space for them). They are watching non stop to ensure they get their space back.

Very unusually, house C is home and has parked in space 2.

So. There is no space left in the street and house B, the most precious and hysterical have nowhere to park. They will return at 10pm.

This actually keeps me entertained daily. Sad I know.

Well played OP. Well played. And as for Mr & Mrs K - they should get awarded the street Star and a parade. Wish we had video ability, this I'd like to watch in real time.

@originalcatlady do you not have friends you need to invite to stay for a few days? Ideally, friends who would arrive in a campervan.

I am visualising this filmed from above and set to music as the cars perform their parking dance ....

With Terry Wogan blaring out in the background "All together for the four-wheel dance!" Grin

I wonder why the council do not just give each house a permit with a space number on.
But not as entertaining though. X

BoomBoomsCousin · 29/01/2020 00:56

I wonder why the council do not just give each house a permit with a space number on.
Because the residents don't own the road and there aren't, in any case, enough spaces for everyone to get a space.

I’ve tried very hard to understand what’s going on with the diagrams, but between wine and Dyscalculia, I’m fucking clueless! I’m just waiting for the shouting to start and I’ll be happy.

WindFlower92 · 29/01/2020 01:27

Placemarking!

flowerbombVR · 29/01/2020 01:59

Oh, and B is back shift again tomorrow.... Grin

I first saw this thread at 9.55pm, fell asleep before 10pm. Up feeding DC now so catching up. Love a parking thread.

noodlezoodle · 29/01/2020 02:21

I'm with Hellbent here, OP you're either going to have to:

a) block B in or
b) leave a rude note on B's car pretending it's from M or
c) stage a sit-in behind B's car in the morning

It's only right.

Shoxfordian · 29/01/2020 05:13

K has the right idea

MaggieFS · 29/01/2020 06:23

How old are the houses? I'm struggling to form a picture of the street in my head!

3rdchristmaslucky · 29/01/2020 06:30

Helpfully knock down Bs front wall so she can park on her own lawn 😇

Skittlesandbeer · 29/01/2020 06:32

I like a parking thread that has these excellent timings.

I’m on the other side of the planet, so the recent pause in proceedings (where everyone sleeps, and B stormily does internet research on local lawyers) lets me catch up nicely on 15 pages. By the time I’ve had my dinner, it’ll be just about time for the morning exodus from The Street of Twitching Curtains.

Brilliant!

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 29/01/2020 06:34

Threads like this make me both sad and relieved I live on a street with allocated parking.

LemonPrism · 29/01/2020 06:52

Oh I live for this shit

PerkyPomPoms · 29/01/2020 06:53

Sounds very exciting!

olympicsrock · 29/01/2020 07:04

Enjoying! Thanks OP!

Canadianpancake · 29/01/2020 07:12

Any movement op? This was one of the first thing I thought of when I woke up.Grin

Frenchw1fe · 29/01/2020 07:14

It's after 8 in France. My dm is arriving today and I need to get on but I'm sat here all exited waiting for updates.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 29/01/2020 07:19

It is past my bedtime in California, so tired but it is so close to 8. Can I last it out? At least I am guaranteed to get up to pee at some point so shall read the update then.

Can you tell I've given this some thought?

sockittome123 · 29/01/2020 07:21

Shameless placemark for later Grin

billybagpuss · 29/01/2020 07:29

I know I’m supposed to press watch to see this mornings shenanigans but I prefer the I’m on button so am blatantly place marking
