See diagram below. I WFH and have no life but I'm pretty sure this will be entertaining to the Mumsnet parking thread folk!

House A, no car but X denotes the allocated disabled spot so he can be collected via a side entrance from his house.
House B, one car, has to park with car door level with front door, meaning she always uses space 1&2. Most people are afraid to park here. If someone does, she parks touching their bumper, in some kind of laying down the law attempt and stands there shouting "who's is this?" and similar nonsense.
House C, one car but not usually home, so is either forced to park in space X or further along from X, where there are two spaces in front of a garage.
House D, one car. Usually gets home first so gets space 3.
House E, house with drive.
House F, car but no drive. Usually parks in space 4.
House G, H, I, J have drives.
House K have two cars and no drive. They have been frequently told they are taking over the street and are not allowed to park in space 5, as it blocks house Gs drive and does not allow House F to park in space 4. I do point out that this has the same impact as house F parking in space 4 on me, but apparently not.
House L, house with drive (me).
House M, drive but no car.
House N, house with drive.

Houses B, F, G and M frequently have street gossips/meetings/bitching sessions declaring that people who haven't lived here for a billion years like them, are taking over, who do they think they are, they can't just park where they like etc etc.

So, if you're still with me, this brings me to today. In a spectacular turn of events, house K, who give no shits about fake parking laws, have parked in space 4. Their other car is further along in front of garage, as well as an unknown car.

House F have now come home parked kind of across both X and space 1 (basically leaving house Bs usual space for them). They are watching non stop to ensure they get their space back.

Very unusually, house C is home and has parked in space 2.

So. There is no space left in the street and house B, the most precious and hysterical have nowhere to park. They will return at 10pm.

This actually keeps me entertained daily. Sad I know.

Sausages treatment? Does that really work?

Utter genius!

Butterymuffin · 28/01/2020 23:43

Thing is, even if B gets away with parking on M's drive overnight, she won't actually want to continue doing that. She'll want to get back to her 'own' space. So this can run and run if K keeps it up Grin

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 23:43

I have never laughed outloud so much on a thread before!

OP posts:
TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/01/2020 23:43

Oh, OP please do the sausage treatment, then film it for youtube.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/01/2020 23:45

Question, how does K parking in 5, block G's drive. Do they drive a bus?

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 28/01/2020 23:46

Ah I spotted this thread earlier then returned 20 minutes ago. Such a good thread. Hope there are updates while I'm on my commute...(anytime before 8:30 is acceptable, thanks!) Grin

originalcatlady · 28/01/2020 23:48

@TaliZorahVasNormandy well exactly. If that was the case, then F is blocking me in when she parks in 4 because it's just in reverse. But that's ok...

OP posts:
TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/01/2020 23:51

Can you encourage K to park their cars in space 4 and 5. That'll be fun.

Hellbentwellwent · 28/01/2020 23:53

Originalcat if you had any sense of decency you’d move your car to block in B by parking over M’s drive. I mean seriously it’s the only reasonable next step....

TheTempest · 28/01/2020 23:54

Brilliant thread. I’m a housing officer though and frankly this is daily in various places in my job and it’s giving me palpitations!

CameronG · 28/01/2020 23:55

I love this. Like, love this.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/01/2020 23:56

Have you seen those official workmen's signs they sometimes put up at the ends of residential roads, saying something like "No parking allowed on this street for 7 days to allow for resurfacing work to be carried out"?

I wonder if you can buy those cheaply on eBay. For novelty purposes only, of course....

DogInATent · 28/01/2020 23:57

The sausages are shamelessly nicked from an idea on another forum (pistonheads). The genius is not mine.

Blondie1092 · 28/01/2020 23:59

I just joined. I'm sad I missed it. But thankful I found it.

Wineandpyjamas · 28/01/2020 23:59

Just found this thread. Shamelessly place marking for tomorrow’s update - will be up early to get the DCs to school. Can’t say I fully understand all the situation (non driver) but I understand enough to be aquiver with excitement.

GabsAlot · 29/01/2020 00:03

Bloody love k good onher and you of course op

i dont move cones but i do sympathise as we have some and noones turned up to do any roadworks theres not alot of spaces as it is

Feel sorry for k just moving into prob their first house and being bullied by the crazy gang

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 29/01/2020 00:08

I'm loving the chutzpah of somebody complaining that people with two cars using two legal spaces on the public road are taking over and thinking that they own the street.... all the while taking two spaces for her one car and then appropriating somebody's private drive.

As much as I get that she likes to park outside her own house, I'm really struggling to understand why it could possibly matter to her that the car door line up with her house door. What difference does it actually make? What excuse has she made when challenged about it - or does nobody dare to challenge her? Actually being the good considerate neighbour that she expects everybody else to be, and not deliberately depriving people of an available space, would require her to walk, what, 7-10ft extra to the left or to the right when going to her car or parking up? I'm guessing that she's an absolutely hopeless driver and she needs the room of two spaces to be able to manoeuvre in and out, but she's too arrogant/ashamed to admit it.

This thread is golden, OP Grin

Could you ring Channel 5 & ask if they want to make a series of this?

NRPDad · 29/01/2020 00:11

Look forward to the morning updates

Don't be ridiculous - it's far too exciting for one of theirs. They prefer more sedate topics like "Inside the Biscuit Factory", where Denise demonstrates to them for ten minutes how she can get 48 packets in a standard box lengthways but only 44 if she packs them in widthways Grin

PerfectParrot · 29/01/2020 00:11

I'm betting K is simply a person who can't stand changes to her routine. The whole "out for dinner one night per week, one takeaway per week" thing sounds so regimented. I could not live like that.

cstaff · 29/01/2020 00:13

I have sausages in my freezer - anyone 😂😂😂. Genius idea and very funny.

Apileofballyhoo · 29/01/2020 00:14

I'd probably find the biscuit packing interesting.

Fab thread, OP.

Sweetheart1313 · 29/01/2020 00:17

What a great thread! Excellent diagram too OP.

Can't wait for the morning update

Fillybuster · 29/01/2020 00:20

Definitely should be up there in Classic Parking threads. What do you mean, “that’s not a thing”? Time to petition MNHQ......Grin

Comedy gold, OP. Fab thread, great commentary, perfect diagrams and a denouement. Couldn’t have asked for more!! Flowers
