I snapped some tendons in my leg a month or so ago.. went to fracture clinic and got a massive brace and crutches, sent for mri, came back a week later brace and crutches taken off me. Physio booked.

Leg gave out 5 times over the weekend with severe pain down my calf. So I got in touch with my dr and they managed to book me back into fracture clinic in 2 weeks. In the mean time physio are happy to give me some crutches

Today the surgeons secretary has rung saying he's had a proper look at the scan and he needs in me in clinic this week ASAP.

What could he have seen ? I was in agony on Friday when I fell it's horrible

😮 can’t believe they missed all those injuries. Digital xrays these days are so detailed.

Scoobydoobywho · 29/01/2020 09:38

It took our hospital nearly 2 weeks to find our 3 yr old ds had a spiral fracture. That was after 3 lots of xrays, the first 2 they did only his ankle and foot as that is what was hurting. The accident and emergency dept were much more thorough, doing his whole leg. Turned out it was a spiral fracture on his shin.

RuffleCrow · 29/01/2020 09:42

Probably a fracture they missed the first time. This happened to dd and we had to go back in.

ItsARaveDave · 29/01/2020 09:43

Will you need surgery on your knee? DH tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus and had to have surgery, this was about 4 years ago now and it's still not 100% now. He was in a lot of pain, but didn't help himself by not getting medical attention straight away, and then it took a while to get a referral for a scan etc.

Damntheman · 29/01/2020 10:13

I can't believe they were going to make you wait til friday with that!!

Best injury story EVER though :o

IntermittentParps · 29/01/2020 10:24

Fucking hell, they missed a broken femur?!? They're a bit rubbish aren't they.

AutumnRose1 · 29/01/2020 10:25

Bloody hell OP

The original consultant missed that completely? Or have I got confused?

I wish you a speedy recovery Flowers

Bobbiepin · 29/01/2020 21:55

You broke your FEMUR and they missed it? Must have been some fall, femurs are as hard as concrete!!

AutumnRose1 · 29/01/2020 22:05

I thought femur fractures were quite common.

More worrying is how they missed it.

ItsLegalTender · 30/01/2020 13:21

So I had an mri scan not an X-ray and fracture clinic was rammed and 2 hours late so he literally looked at it (glanced) and sent me on my way. It wasn't until he's been given the actual report he's gone oh fuck this needs treating.

It is a hair line fracture in all fairness and can only be seen on 2 aspects of the report so he probably missed it as he was only looking for acl damage.

OP, sorry I’m confused

In my brain, the fracture has been missed twice?! How are you today?

ItsLegalTender · 30/01/2020 18:13

Yeah it was, in A&E originally and then at fracture clinic. But it's been treated now so it's fine.

It's sore!!! It's hard going up and down 3 flights of stairs at home so I'm choosing a room and staying there 😳

I'd be furious OP.

Agree with picking a room and staying there.
