I snapped some tendons in my leg a month or so ago.. went to fracture clinic and got a massive brace and crutches, sent for mri, came back a week later brace and crutches taken off me. Physio booked.

Leg gave out 5 times over the weekend with severe pain down my calf. So I got in touch with my dr and they managed to book me back into fracture clinic in 2 weeks. In the mean time physio are happy to give me some crutches

Today the surgeons secretary has rung saying he's had a proper look at the scan and he needs in me in clinic this week ASAP.

What could he have seen ? I was in agony on Friday when I fell it's horrible

ACL rupture can be serious and very painful. It can takes considerable rehabilitation or even surgery to recover. I tore mine in a skiing accident (plus MCL and meniscus) and it took months to recover fully.

1forsorrow · 28/01/2020 14:06

Happened to my daughter, she was 12. Sent home from A&E and I was told she was exaggerating the pain. Five days later got a call that they needed to see her, made an appointment for 2 days later and took her in. Told she had a fracture, well actually two small fractures. She was in plaster from hip to ankle for six weeks.

Don't know if that's what has happened to you but they do miss things on xrays sometimes.

Good luck.

CrunchySomething · 28/01/2020 14:07

Glad you're going to A & E. Hopefully they can access the scan you had and tell you something.

LadyLindaT · 28/01/2020 14:12

I am sending you all good vibes for getting this sorted. I speak as someone who was discharged, undiagnosed, from A&E with what turned out to have been a broken leg and a broken wrist. My daughter reckons I must have caught a shift change...

BlackeyedSusan · 28/01/2020 14:13

Oh poor love. Hope you get some proper advice soon.

glitterbiscuits · 28/01/2020 14:14

How did you do the original injury?

Bombaybunty · 28/01/2020 14:15

I ruptured my achilles tendon about 18 months ago. Two weeks in a cast on crutches, then surgery. They took a tendon from under my foot and transplanted it into my leg. I then had a few weeks in plaster then in to a supportive boot. The whole process took nearly 4 months.
All good now.

ItsLegalTender · 28/01/2020 14:17

@glitterbiscuits I was dancing drunk and fell off a table whilst shouting 'I'm not a fucking clutz'

Glad you’re going to A&E

Excellent story. Mine is falling down steps, which is a crap story!

Grin I’m so sorry you’re hurt but this is very funny.

Bluetrews25 · 28/01/2020 14:22

Ruptured achilles need surgical repair!

ScreamingLadySutch · 28/01/2020 14:24

It sounds as though you tore your achilles tendon so they put it in a boot etc to reattach,

but with this fall you have now snapped it.

ItsLegalTender · 28/01/2020 14:24

@TheBeastInMsRooneysRoom yes the paramedics and DH laughed when he told them Grin I got up there to prove I wasn't clumsy and I'd be totally fine! It is funny and I do concede I am very clumsy! Gas and air + alcohol made it seem like the funniest thing ever Blush

Redred2429 · 28/01/2020 14:26

Hope you get some answers op there is nothing worse than being in pain and not knowing what the cause is

ScreamingLadySutch · 28/01/2020 14:27

Do let us know @ItsLegalTender

Grin my kind of girl!

IntermittentParps · 28/01/2020 14:45

Ouch Achilles are painful! Has he got a cast on?
Did the OP really post that comment? It reads like someone else asking her a question Confused

Anyway, OP, it's shit when you only get proper attention if you're pushy, but that does often seem to be the way it goes. I hope you get sorted.

ItsLegalTender · 28/01/2020 14:53

@IntermittentParps I was replying to crotchetyquavers who said her husband ruptured his Achilles this week

OP posts:
IntermittentParps · 28/01/2020 14:54

Oh, right, sorry! Didn't see that. [easily confused]

ItsLegalTender · 28/01/2020 14:56

@IntermittentParps no worries! 😂

OP posts:
JeffreyJefferson · 28/01/2020 15:15

hope you are ok

Bombaybunty · 28/01/2020 15:17

Hope you get checked out properly and then get the right treatment.

Notimeforaname · 28/01/2020 15:20

I tore my ACL pretty badly a few years ago and was told not to walk on it and keep the brace on, with crutches. Took a fair few months. Later found out I had a small fracture as well and a small shard of bone was hurting a tendon also. Good luck on Friday.

LagunaBubbles · 28/01/2020 15:23

Sorry shouldn't laugh whst happened but at least you've been honest here! Grin

Notsure94 · 28/01/2020 15:48

Does sound like they've perhaps spotted a fracture that needs more support or a cast. Hope you are seen quickly at A&E and get better soon.

Lunde · 28/01/2020 15:52

I was told nothing wrong at first when I had an accident and was made to feel like I was exaggerating the extent of the pain and problems and generally treated like shit by the nursing staff who insisted that I walk on it.

Then the doctor ordered an MRI and as it turned out I was sent to a different hospital - the final tally was

  • fractured femur
  • total ruptures of ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL
  • torn meniscus
  • chondral fracture - damage to the bone inside the knee joint
  • permanent nerve damage

I found out later than the doctor had ordered me to be non-weight bearing - which the nursing staff had ignored
