I snapped some tendons in my leg a month or so ago.. went to fracture clinic and got a massive brace and crutches, sent for mri, came back a week later brace and crutches taken off me. Physio booked.

Leg gave out 5 times over the weekend with severe pain down my calf. So I got in touch with my dr and they managed to book me back into fracture clinic in 2 weeks. In the mean time physio are happy to give me some crutches

Today the surgeons secretary has rung saying he's had a proper look at the scan and he needs in me in clinic this week ASAP.

What could he have seen ? I was in agony on Friday when I fell it's horrible

I had a partial break of my Achilles tendon. At first they were treating it as fully ruptured. Then they decided they were wrong and it was only partial, so treated with physiotherapy. Apparently it can sometimes be hard to tell. Could it be this but in reverse? Thought it was partial but now think it's full?

I was dancing drunk and fell off a table whilst shouting 'I'm not a fucking clutz'

Pmsl!

I ruptured my ACL (and partially dislocated my kneecap) parachute jumping (although I suppose, strictly speaking, I did it hitting the ground after parachute jumping).

I was in arse-to-ankle plaster for 10 weeks, and in hospital for 3 weeks, 2 of which were total bedrest. They've obviously changed how they treat ACL injuries since 1982!

It was very, very painful.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 28/01/2020 17:05

Glad you are getting it checked, in case it is an Achilles rupture

itsgettingweird · 28/01/2020 17:09

I really hope you get some answers or some interim support/cast until your appointment.

I'm very sorry about the injury and pain.

But I'm dead proud of you for how you did it BlushGrin

SleepWarrior · 28/01/2020 17:59

These all sound hideously painful.

Hope you get an answer in a&e.

Loyaultemelie · 28/01/2020 18:00

This is even better than my, "of course I can still ice skate well after 20 odd years love" splat breaking my knee a year ago and ending up with a lifelong disability Blush

Really hope you get some treatment soon

TwoHeadedYellowBelliedHoleDig · 28/01/2020 18:02

You will have made every HCP's day with that explanation Grin

Bobbiepin · 28/01/2020 21:05

Sorry, I should have checked earlier. Your foot not moving suggests an Achilles rupture. Your foot should move even with a partial rupture. No weight on it, elevate, ice & a compression bandage for support until the time you can see a doctor.

CSIblonde · 28/01/2020 21:26

I broke an elbow then days later Hospital rang & said they'd reviewed my xray & a tiny piece of bone was chipped off & floating so needed removing. The woman x raying me took a good 20mins as she kept repositioning my arm & claimed 'where the break is, it's hard to xray' .... I don't get why, seems fishy to me. Bone is bone, that's what x rays show.

MyOtherProfile · 28/01/2020 21:34

Did you get to A and E op?

mummymayhem18 · 28/01/2020 21:53

Hope you're sorted now?

ItsLegalTender · 29/01/2020 06:42

I've broken my femur, (hairline) I've torn the acl and mcl and the meniscus 👍

LatteLover12 · 29/01/2020 06:50

Jeez OP no wonder you couldn't walk!

I'm utterly baffled that they would have kept you waiting until Friday! Hope they're getting you sorted now.

PerkyPomPoms · 29/01/2020 07:01

Jesus no wonder walking was an issue!

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 29/01/2020 07:08

Flipping heck! No wonder it hurt!

Well done for not waiting until Friday!

TwoHeadedYellowBelliedHoleDig · 29/01/2020 07:11

You clutz! Have you got your crutches back? Big cast?

ItsLegalTender · 29/01/2020 07:35

Nice big cast and crutches.. yay!!

Wheresthebeach · 29/01/2020 08:07

Ouch OP. It seems very common that they miss things in the initial look at xrays (happened to DH, called back after senior dr looked at xray).

Glad you went back and got help. Def part of your fan club over how it happened!

CrotchetyQuaver · 29/01/2020 08:33

@ItsLegalTender he has a giant airboot thing on with crutches and has been told it's non weight bearing. Yes he's in pain medicates with wine Very boring story for him - he slipped on a cattle grid and I guess over extended it. Your story is hilarious! I'm glad youre fixed up now with your crutches and cast Thanks

Lovemusic33 · 29/01/2020 08:47

Glad you went to a&e, can’t believe they wanted to make you wait until Friday with a fracture.

User12879923378 · 29/01/2020 08:51

I can't believe he was going to leave you without crutches and cast until Friday! I'd be tempted to speak to PALS at his hospital.

StormBaby · 29/01/2020 08:54

Glad they might be treating you correctly now! My DH done his ACL in a work accident two years ago and the specialist told him he just "had to get on with it". He's mid 30s, walks with a stick and now unable to work and registered disabled. 😢

MrsMozartMkII · 29/01/2020 09:01

Ouch! Hope you heal quickly and well.

Clangus00 · 29/01/2020 09:17

When you fall drunk off a table....at least you did it properly! Well done! 😂
(Seriously though, ouch)
