To take a pregnancy test?

Been TTC for 4 years. Failed rounds of IVF, without even so much as a late period. It's been hell.
My period is 2 days late, very unusual. I'm now day dreaming that I might be pregnant. We really tried this month and I had a smear mid-month and dr commented was showing signs of ovulation. DH wants me to give it a couple of days, not jump straight to POAS as he knows how heartbreaking I find the all negatives. All
through IVF he was dead against early testing, always waiting for the bloods. But that was torture and inevitably we got the call either with me at work or out for lunch with was devastating and embarrassing as I'm led sobbing from a restaurant.
AIBU to buy one on the way home and put myself out of my misery? Or should I live in a hopeful bubble for a couple of days?! HELP!!!

I'm so sorry op! We are here to listen if you feel like talking. Certainly don't feel foolish.

So sorry OP, never give up! Hope the wine tastes nice Wine

Mooey89 · 23/01/2020 11:34

I’m so sorry OP. Infertility is the absolute worst, and so lonely. I hope you have some real life support.

ArchieStar · 23/01/2020 11:48

Hand hold OP. Been there and it’s not a nice place to be. 💖 sending you un-mumsnetty hugs 💖

keepingbees · 23/01/2020 12:14

So sorry, but maybe there is still hope you never know Thanks
I hope your DH is being kind, he shouldn't be berating you for testing

Poppypot · 23/01/2020 12:30

OP I first read your post this morning but didn't have time to comment. I was going to say don't test yet, leave it a few more days, as implantation can take up to 12 days and then it can take another 3 days for HCG levels to be high enough to be detected by a pregnancy test.

I don't want to give you false hope, but I was due my period on my 42nd birthday. I did a pregnancy test but it was negative, yet I still hadn't come on my period a week later and it turned out I was actually pregnant that month. So don't give up Flowers

Raspberrytruffle · 23/01/2020 12:47

These posts really get on my tit ends, just take a test, nobody on aibu can tell you if you are pregnant Hmm

PurpleDaisies · 23/01/2020 12:49

People who don’t read the thread get on my tit ends raspberry.

Your post is really insensitive. Biscuit

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 23/01/2020 12:50

Raspberry people who are insensitive really get on my tit ends.RTFT Biscuit

JacquesHammer · 23/01/2020 12:52

Imagine being unable to read an OP, then making an absolutely wazzock of yourself.

What a deeply insensitive post Raspberrytruffle, I think an apology is in order.

DesLynamsMoustache · 23/01/2020 12:55

What an insensitive post. Hope you're proud of yourself Hmm

SiblingStruggle · 23/01/2020 13:06

Don't know if it's too late and you'll already have done the test. Particularly when testing at an early stage, it's always more accurate when it is the first pee of the day (sorry, don't know how to say without being so graphic!) If the one you took wasn't with your first pee, it might not be accurate.

So if it was negative (and I hope it wasn't!) maybe try again first thing in the morning. Keeping everything crossed for you! Flowers

Cooper88 · 23/01/2020 13:08

Just read the thread I was going to say I didn't get a faint positive till I was 10 days late, so it can take a bit longer with some to show positive.

SiblingStruggle · 23/01/2020 13:09

Arghh sorry! It only loaded the first few messages in the thread and has now updated to 138 messages. Try a re-test at a different time of day, and if it doesn't work out this month then please don't lose hope Flowers

PurpleDaisies · 23/01/2020 13:09

Don't know if it's too late and you'll already have done the test.

There’s a pretty easy way you could have found out...

SiblingStruggle · 23/01/2020 13:11

@PurpleDaisies Yes, please see my second post.... The thread only loaded about 8 messages initially and that was all I could see when I posted the first. As soon as I hit post it updated to 138 messages. There isn't any need to be so sarcastic and mean. We're all just trying to be here to support the OP. Let's not attack each other.

spongejack · 23/01/2020 13:59

I'm sorry xxx

DobbyLovesSocks · 23/01/2020 14:01

Sorry OP, infertility sucks. Do you have some RL support? Flowers

oncemorewithfeeling99 · 23/01/2020 17:15

I’m sorry. I remember this. It’s horrible.

surelyitcantgetworsethanthis · 23/01/2020 19:39

Feeling terrible this morning. Could really do with a day of self care. But I'm up to face work, no point in hiding away. No sign of AF, which is just annoying now.
At least it's Friday, thanks everybody for your support and kind words. It's just shit.

Sexnotgender · 23/01/2020 19:45

I’m sorry OP, life is a big bunch of bollocks sometimes. I really hope you get your positive soon Flowers

Brenna24 · 23/01/2020 21:07

Gorgeous pupper. I hope that you can rest and recuperate this weekend.

surelyitcantgetworsethanthis · 24/01/2020 08:28

Thank you all. Still no AF.
Yes my pupper is gorgeous, we 'joked' durning the last failed round, if this fails let's gets a puppy. It failed on the Friday, I met her on the Monday. She literally saved my life. She is my absolute world.

Weekday28 · 24/01/2020 08:33

I'm not sure if it wise to post this however when I was testing (like a looney) at the beginning I only got a positive on mornings wee never late in the day. I dont know if the tests have got better though in the last few years so it maybe totally crap of me to post this and to still give a small glimmer of hope to you. I have my fingers crossed for you x

Chillyourbeans · 24/01/2020 08:37

I'm so sorry OP, I remember this feeling and it's utterly shit.
