To take a pregnancy test?

Been TTC for 4 years. Failed rounds of IVF, without even so much as a late period. It's been hell.
My period is 2 days late, very unusual. I'm now day dreaming that I might be pregnant. We really tried this month and I had a smear mid-month and dr commented was showing signs of ovulation. DH wants me to give it a couple of days, not jump straight to POAS as he knows how heartbreaking I find the all negatives. All
through IVF he was dead against early testing, always waiting for the bloods. But that was torture and inevitably we got the call either with me at work or out for lunch with was devastating and embarrassing as I'm led sobbing from a restaurant.
AIBU to buy one on the way home and put myself out of my misery? Or should I live in a hopeful bubble for a couple of days?! HELP!!!

Don't feel foolish. It's not unreasonable to get your hopes up when you think you're having symptoms - especially when you've been through so much x

I just can't keep going through this but I'm 39 and time is running out. I'm completely numb.

Absolutely no need to feel foolish. At my lowest point I was taking tests when spotting for my period had already started.

The hoping is cruel, you're not foolish for thinking it might work.

Oh I am so so sorry OP. Please don't loose hope. And as they saying goes, you aren't out until AF arrives. Do you know when you last ovulated? I don't want to give you false hope but it may just be that there isn't enough hormone yet. I got a faint positive on a test at 5 weeks (obvious but faint) and I don't think I would have got a positive if I tested around the time I was due on.

I am so sorry. I have been there too many times and remember the feeling only too well. Wine and camembert were my staples then.

Sending hugs OP it's so soul crushing getting negative after negative, I still remember being there so clearly. Take care of yourself today, lots of wine and other self care remedies.

💐 (because I know that TTC is horrendous and no words will make you feel better). Cuddle your pup and rant here. I can empathise to a point - I've been trying for 14 months and am technically in the 2 week wait but the cramps etc are definitely PMT x
