Watching his new song 'Monsters' and SOBBING.

How it talks to men.

"Man...I'm a tough guy, or so I thought. I drive a big truck for a living and miss out on so many family things. My dad passed away 12 years ago and I miss him. I just now, for the first time, heard this song and am parked for the day...sitting in the sleeper berth with a soaked t-shirt from, uncontrollably, crying like a baby. I'm not ashamed though...I loved my dad. This song really hit home."

Very powerful

GiveHerHellFromUs · 23/01/2020 06:46

I watched the video yesterday and I was a MESS. Beautiful song, so so sad.

Actionhasmagic · 23/01/2020 06:52

Incredible video

Skolkolet · 23/01/2020 06:54

Remembering the surprise I felt when I saw him on HIGNIFY and realised he wasn't in fact rhyming slang, but humble and funny.

I think this is overworked schlock, though.

DesLynamsMoustache · 23/01/2020 06:55

😭😭😭

Rupertpenrysmistress · 23/01/2020 07:14

OMG I should not have listened to this the kids are wondering why I am crying. I love James Blunt anyway and as a nurse I see this at work. Beautiful.

Bluetrews25 · 23/01/2020 07:15

He's put his heart into that.
Is that his Dad in the video??
Lyrics would suggest not (for obvious reasons) but they do look alike.

PineappleDanish · 23/01/2020 07:16

He's also one of the funniest things about Twitter.

Pinkflipflop85 · 23/01/2020 07:19

It is his dad in the video.

Sojo88 · 23/01/2020 07:19

I believe it is his dad. From what I understand his dad is ill and needs a transplant (kidney) i think? James would love to donate his own but isn't a match.

Beautiful song.

EnidBlyton · 23/01/2020 07:20
Sad
NeilTheBaby · 23/01/2020 07:24

Yes it is his dad. I've loved James blunt for a long time. He's absolutely hilarious but so humble. If I had to listen to one artist for the rest of my life it would be him. The story about selling his sister on Ebay is quite funny! And surely everyone's seen his Twitter account??

sawyersfishbiscuits · 23/01/2020 07:27

Oh good grief... I'm a total mess. Love them. 😢

icannotremember · 23/01/2020 07:29

Oh god op. I'm on my way to see my dad for the first time since he was taken to hospital due to his COPD and this song has just hit me hard.

dancemusicsexromance · 23/01/2020 07:33

Wow - I've lost my dad and step father in the last 12 months - this has had me sobbing. Stunning.

exLtEveDallas · 23/01/2020 07:43

Fucking hell.

ScreamingLadySutch · 23/01/2020 07:48

I found this on YouTube, a song reviewer. The jaunty 'don't know what this is about so lets go' at the start ...

Willow2017 · 23/01/2020 08:08

Oh ffs just what I needed to start the day....blubbing not !
How the hell can he sing like that while crying? I can barely talk when I am crying😀

JonSlow · 23/01/2020 08:09

Fuck. That’s hit me hard.

SciFiScream · 23/01/2020 08:12

He's not singing while he's crying. He's miming while he's crying...

Living Years is another brilliant song about fathers.

Every generation blames the one before...

Willow2017 · 23/01/2020 08:14

Don't burst my bubble!
I know

SentimentalKiller · 23/01/2020 08:15

I tried watching but I hate the sound of his voice
I stand alone hereGrin

Magissa · 23/01/2020 08:17

Oh my goodness. That set me off after about thirty seconds. Raw emotion in his face. Other than Beautiful I have never listened to any of his music but I might now.
Off to visit my dad in his carehome now Sad

SoupDragon · 23/01/2020 08:18

DS's school linked to this on their Facebook page as the school choir sang on it. I clicked on it unknowingly and was in tears.

James would love to donate his own but isn't a match.

Yes and his sister isn't a match either.

Willow2017 · 23/01/2020 08:30

Actually I am in awe as to how he managed to sing it so powerfully at all, even in a studio, without dissolving into a blubbering mess😄
