I struggle with his voice too. I managed because it’s a good song. I’m wondering whether he would do better writing songs for other people, and annihilating people on Twitter.

I've loved him for a long time! He just has such a beautiful soul and he's not afraid to show it. Very talented man, hilarious man! His twitter account is amazing. I miss my dad :(

I love him, he takes the piss out of himself and is so funny. His new album is really good, loads of songs on there I love, including this one.

Incredible song and powerful emotion, but I really can't bear his voice.

Wow, maybe the pregnancy hormones didn't help but I lasted just over a minute before dissolving into a snotty sobbing mess.

The first time I heard it was when he sang it at the Festival of Remembrance back in November minutes after DS1 had phoned just before he went on deployment. Me and DH cried our eyes out.

We can't listen to it without crying. It really pulls at the heart strings. I hope his dad gets a kidney.

I think that was a quote from someone else. The point is his dad could well die, if they don't find a match soon. I think it was sweet to have him in the video.

Woah. We are rapidly approaching the 7th anniversary of my dad's death and that's really got me. What a powerful song and video. Simple and eloquent.

So I clicked the link thinking you were all being a tad lot dramatic but I was blubbing by the first chorus .

It's a very powerful/beautiful song that a think eloquently describes the point at which as a child, you have to let your parent go.

I believe OP was quoting a man who had made that comment on YouTube, who was remembering his father who had died 12 years previously.

Why have his dad in the video ? A bit presumptuous. If the song was about hope and fear maybe.
