Head/neck injury

Nc as this is bloody embarrassing.

Boyfriend picked me up backwards, so I stupidly bit him on the arse so he would put me down (next to sofa so thought he would just drop me on sofa) but no, he got a shock and fucking dropped me on the solid wood floor. Felt like my neck bent back and bashed head hard, now lying on floor with ice packs on my head and neck. Head feels fizzy and neck hurts but I could get up, I just feel dizzy and neck is hurting when I move my head back.

Should I just leave it and get it seen to if it gets worse or should I go to out of hours?

And by drop I mean dropped straight on head if that isn’t clear

No point messing with a head injury - call 111 or go to A&E

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 22/01/2020 23:35

Oh good god, I'd call an ambulance! Sounds like your neck needs to be immobilised!

123bananas · 22/01/2020 23:35

www.nhs.uk/conditions/minor-head-injury/ or phone 111 for advice.

Quickadviceplease444 · 22/01/2020 23:37

I can sit up and move etc it just hurts and my actual head feels like tight? Don’t know if that’s worth a&e?

111.nhs.uk/

Run through the questions here

Purplewithred · 22/01/2020 23:39

111 for sure. Let us know what they say. But only move your neck if it’s comfortable to do so. Are you tender down the bony bit of your neck?

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 22/01/2020 23:40

It's the neck pain that sounds worrying. At least ring 111. You could have really injured your neck.

brittabot · 22/01/2020 23:40

If you’re not feeling right after head/neck injury go straight to A&E.

Please don’t lie about it.

Quickadviceplease444 · 22/01/2020 23:41

@purplewithred yes that sounds like where I’d describe it as! Right looking at 111 now will update

bloodywhitecat · 22/01/2020 23:41

The fact you can move your neck does NOT mean you haven't broken it, get it checked. Tonight.

2020bluegirl · 22/01/2020 23:42

OMG yeah, please go to A & E. I hope you're OK!

MsPepperPotts · 22/01/2020 23:44

You need an X-ray at the very least...so you need a trip to A&E

Quickadviceplease444 · 22/01/2020 23:44

Feel so stupid, what exactly do I explain it as? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Boyfriend picked me up and dropped me on my head. I sound like a giant baby lol. Arghh

CrispyKipper · 22/01/2020 23:45

A&E for sure, a friend of mine had a bad fall recently and gp put her aches and pains down to a flu or virus, turns out she'd actually broken her neck. She was mobile but in a lot of pain. Once they operated on her they found out she had previously done the exact thing but further down her spine. She ended up in hospital for 8 weeks. Get yourself checked out and x-ray done.

crazyhairbear · 22/01/2020 23:45

Just be honest they have heard worse.... A LOT worse

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 22/01/2020 23:46

Stop worrying about how you did it, and speak to a medical professional. Or 111.

In the meantime, keep your neck still.

Btw, 111 online will also tell you to call an ambulance.

Quickadviceplease444 · 22/01/2020 23:48

Online 111 said to call an ambulance. Not doing that as there’s people out there bigger problems than this but think I will go to minors and see what they recommend

OP posts:
SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 22/01/2020 23:48

Oh for fucks sake.

Why bother posting if you're not going to take advice?

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 22/01/2020 23:50

Glad you're seeking medical help though.

Quickadviceplease444 · 22/01/2020 23:50

@somehalfhumancreaturething I just feel like a&e will think I’m wasting time? Cause I really am fully mobile it’s just like one line that hurts

Retroflex · 22/01/2020 23:52

@Quickadviceplease444 "Feel so stupid, what exactly do I explain it as? 🤦🏻‍♀️ Boyfriend picked me up and dropped me on my head."

Yes! They'll need to know exactly what happened.

LaurieMarlow · 22/01/2020 23:54

Ffs do what 111 told you. There was a case in ireland I read about years ago where someone hurt their neck, thought it was grand, went to bed, woke up paralysed.

Not the type of injury you mess with.

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/01/2020 23:54

111 are overly cautious.
You do need to be checked out but I think going to minor injuries is the right thing for now.

Quickadviceplease444 · 22/01/2020 23:57

@LaurieMarlow shit really? That’s scared me then. Think a&e and minors are connected anyway so triage sends you in the right direction?
