Head/neck injury

Nc as this is bloody embarrassing.

Boyfriend picked me up backwards, so I stupidly bit him on the arse so he would put me down (next to sofa so thought he would just drop me on sofa) but no, he got a shock and fucking dropped me on the solid wood floor. Felt like my neck bent back and bashed head hard, now lying on floor with ice packs on my head and neck. Head feels fizzy and neck hurts but I could get up, I just feel dizzy and neck is hurting when I move my head back.

Should I just leave it and get it seen to if it gets worse or should I go to out of hours?

In neck brace. Had x ray about an hour ago so just laying here waiting, bit nervous as they’ve been gone ages but I guess that’s just how a&e works right

I’d give anything to be there when they ask you how you did it! I hope you soon feel better. Is your boyfriend in the next cubicle getting his bite marks treated?!

Rosspoldarkssaddle · 23/01/2020 02:11

That is definitely one for bizarre ER! Fingers crossed for a good outcome

Quickadviceplease444 · 23/01/2020 02:15

@Dita73 omg left the biting part out lol but did tell the X-ray girls and they had a good laugh 😂

@rosspoldarkssaddle hahah I know! Thank you

I’m glad you’re in A&E. I had a patient who had a car accident, felt fine so got out and walked around. Unfortunately his neck was broken and he spent the rest of his life quadriplegic.

Dita73 · 23/01/2020 02:29

You have to marry this guy so you can say to your future grandchildren,”Did I tell you about the time when I bit Grandad on the arse?”! Grin

Quickadviceplease444 · 23/01/2020 02:52

@dita73 hahaha yes 😂 will be a good story to tell hahah

@AlexaAmbidextra oh bless him. It’s crazy how something like that can happen without someone realising!

Update: xrays fine. Didn’t do a scan of head but just assuming they don’t think necessary. Gave me paracetamol and said since I have tramadol on repeat anyway to just take that for the pain when I’m home for the next few days. Basically said it’s just whiplash. Feel a lot happier knowing I’m not going to wake up paralysed though! So thanks for convincing me to go, all x

Great update, sounds like you had a lucky escape

Dita73 · 23/01/2020 02:59

So glad you’re ok. Best wishes to you x

Quickadviceplease444 · 23/01/2020 03:02

Thank you both! Neck is still killing but he said it’ll get worse rather than better for now. Don’t know what to do as have interview tomorrow, will have to see how bad it is when I wake up 😂

Did they say anything about keeping an eye out for concussion? Easy to look up signs on Google, and symptoms can take a couple of days. Just means you really have to rest... what a relief though!

Quickadviceplease444 · 23/01/2020 03:55

@lborgia have a few leaflets on aftercare kinda stuff. Basically just rest up, painkillers, etc. I know, got really scared from what a few people were saying haha

Woke up and can’t turn my head without it being agony and if I touch the top right of my head it really hurts :( so annoying. All I wanted to do was bite my boyfriend and now look 😂

@Quickadviceplease444 So glad you're OK!!!

Thanks for updating us. Flowers

2020bluegirl · 23/01/2020 14:09

I mean, I am sorry you're in agony!!!!!! But glad nothing bad has happened.

LochJessMonster · 23/01/2020 14:13

Is it normal that my ears feel funny like they feel like blocked suddenly? do you know who could have answered that? The bloody doctors trained to answer it.

I really don't understand why anyone would take the unqualified advice of strangers on the net when there is a free public helpline (111 or 999) who can answer it...

Sparkle2020 · 23/01/2020 22:26

@LochJessMonster OP said she went to the hospital? She did get advice

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 23/01/2020 22:58

Oh so horrible. I'm so glad you went to get checked out, but don't think twice about booking a follow-up appointment with your GP. Might be worth pre-emptively booking one, incase you're still having issues in a few days/weeks.

Normal to have the pain you have unfortunately, but if it gets worse, seek help.

(can you tell I've had a serious neck injury yet...)

If it siezes up further you might need muscle relaxants btw

LochJessMonster · 24/01/2020 10:50

@Sparkle2020 after she had asked random strangers on a forum (and had 2 pages of replies saying go to hospital).

LaurieMarlow · 24/01/2020 10:54

She went to the hospital, no point in taking over old coals. OP, hope you start feeling better.
