I had a bit of an argument with a friend when I had, well I say I had burned my hand, she insisted I'd burnt it.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 22/01/2020 17:06

damnthatanxiety "What were they meaning?"
Chubby Cheek = shabby chic
Crashed walwat - crushed velvet

====================

As for "dinning table", how can anyone think it's right? Confused
"Dinning" is a different sound to dining ("dyning")
It's like spelling "pinning" like "pining" ("pyning")

CarolinaPink · 22/01/2020 17:24

I've seen a lot of 'empathic' on here recently (instead of empathetic e.g. "My child is very empathic". Hmmm...

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 22/01/2020 17:28

For sale, dark red dafferder bridesmaid dress.

I did a proper Lol at that Grin

CarolinaPink · 22/01/2020 17:35

Oh, and re-reading some documents from the distant past recently I saw that my little sister had referred to "the saffernoon" in a letter to our grandparents :) She was a small child at the time, though, so fair enough, but it made me smile :)

NearlyGranny · 22/01/2020 17:36

WelcomeToCranford, I expect 'farther' refers to a distant relationship. 😉

longtimemarried · 22/01/2020 17:39

Someone on fb posted that they had just been to the gym and their "mussels" were aching!

CarolinaPink · 22/01/2020 17:39

@ConcernedAuntie

subtle grey pony

😂😂😂

Redwoodmaz · 22/01/2020 17:43

I saw a 'restbite' on MN today!!!!

Redwoodmaz · 22/01/2020 17:52

I saw a postcard ad in a newsagent window for a 'Suffuck Colt' lawnmower for sale!!!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 22/01/2020 17:59

My friend pronounces "eptiome" as "epi-tome" (to rhyme with "phone"). I assume because she's only ever seen it written down. I always want to correct her but don't as that would make me a Massive Dick.

Somanysocks · 22/01/2020 18:08

I also like to say ambliance on purpose.

TheSheepofWallSt · 22/01/2020 18:13

For clarity...

She is from Yorkshire (as am I) but the phrase was “we’ve got Chester drawers to put under there”

It’s not an accent thing. But I am relieved to find it’s a real thing, not just a MN thing...

Someone on another thread put flores instead of flaws, I had to sit on my hands.

BurtonHouse · 22/01/2020 18:39

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned advocados. Large green fruit which make it their life's work to speak up for others.

BurtonHouse · 22/01/2020 18:40

Hmm - that doesn't sound right .....

NannyKasey · 22/01/2020 18:53

Bristolians refer to skeletons as Skellingtons (we mostly spell it correctly tho Grin )

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/01/2020 18:53

I can’t see that [fork] one posted. I will admit I only scanned through through quickly. What’s it supposed to be?

Eyes like a hawk, I think, TheWomanTheyCallJayne

I know of people from a certain part of Scotland who talk about “Sangwiches”. I ask you. Fucking Sangwich

I say that.

YOU’LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE. 🔫

SusieMyerson · 22/01/2020 19:07

Hang on though. I pronounce drawers as draws (im from north east) I don't really know how to say it any other way ( but I do know how to spell it). Do people really say draw-ers. That would sound odd to me.

Butchyrestingface · 22/01/2020 19:08

Do people really say draw-ers.

Oh yes, indeedy, we surely do.

Owlypants · 22/01/2020 19:12

Sangwiches instead of sandwich? It's a piece!!

Butchyrestingface · 22/01/2020 19:17
