AIBU to stick a massive sign on CF car parked in my space?

I live in a small private estate. We have big signs everywhere saying it's private parking and permits only and an enforcement company that comes round. However this never deters people and they never seem to get caught with a ticket! I have one parking space. Which is numbered. It is clearly NOT a visitors parking space nor a space for random people to park in.

WIBU to print a massive poster sized sign and saying it's not their space and not to park there to put on the car for all to see? Because I currently can't park in my own space and am risking a parking fine myself by not being parked within a marked bay even with a permit. I've had to put a note on my car explaining that a car I don't know is in my space without permission just in case.

Do it do it do it. I have this issue a lot too and despite putting my own private property sign up it still happens. Management company are shit, and do nothing . I’ve taking to nasty notes and blocking them in to make my point.

cherish123 · 21/01/2020 17:43

Yes. I would and I'd call the management company.

cherish123 · 21/01/2020 17:45

Block them in too (as long as it doesn't risk.your getting a fine). What about the police - though probably isn't a police matter. Call a clamping company 😆.

Amalfimamma · 21/01/2020 17:45

Do it. And park behind the car so they can't get out and you'll be able to give them what for.

I usually do this to those who park in my space and then tell them I'll move my car when I have time. Leaving them for as long as possible..... I managed 3 hours the other day...

danfandango · 21/01/2020 17:51

I would run of a small letter and drop one into every neighbour to see if it even belongs to a resident or a visitor to a resident. Then ask the police if it is a missing car.

Good lord rtft people

jakkijax · 21/01/2020 18:14

Unbelievable behaviour and suggestions for adults.

Toomuchtrouble4me · 21/01/2020 18:15

Hire a rugby team to lift it and dump it on a double yellow

jakkijax · 21/01/2020 18:15

This happens to me on a regular basis. I pay for private car park space. If someone's parked there I just park elsewhere. Lifes too short

Petlover9 · 21/01/2020 18:18

@dhalandchips - good idea , so would letting the air out the tyres, no damage, just let the air out

Wingingit247 · 21/01/2020 18:41

Am SHOCKED to see that the CF parking in a completely selfish and entitled way drives a BMW....

bellocchild · 21/01/2020 18:42

If you push a shortish nail lightly in the back l/h tyre tread, it will work its way in and eventually cause a puncture - which would be a huge nuisance to the driver and s/he might work it out for themselves. I am absolutely not recommending this, as it is almost certainly illegal, and probably dangerous, but it was done to our car in a motorway car park in Spain...

jakeyboy1 · 21/01/2020 18:47

My dad was a car dealer. Back in the 70s there was apparently a limited number of key types of which he had them all. If someone blocked him in he used to get in their car and move it around the corner!

Nsky · 21/01/2020 18:49

I too live in a cul de sac with private parking , tho 2 visitor spots
I normally write
It has been observed that you have parked in a residents parking space, as you are well aware this is private parking.
Please remove your car and do not return ( our town, very near station);has plenty of car parks, use them!
Normally works

Nsky · 21/01/2020 18:51

Keep a copy tho, I do comes in handy fir the next offender

clarehhh · 21/01/2020 18:58

Park behind them

mrbreezeet1 · 21/01/2020 19:37

@Penners99

My sister had a CF park on her drive once. Her DH and me used two trolley Jack's to lift and slide the car to the double yellow lines opposite. Quick call to the parking people resulted in car being towed. Sis denied all knowledge when CF returned THE NEXT DAY!

This is pure genius!!!!

LMAO That's Too Funny!! Smile Smile

Praguemum · 21/01/2020 19:41

Park behind them and put a note in your car so that you don't get a ticket. They won't do it if they can't get out!

mrbreezeet1 · 21/01/2020 20:20

DisinterestedParty Stated :
"I'd be tempted to get a load of post it notes and stick them all over the car, spelling out a message. Doesn't do any damage, unlike glue, but will take them ages to peel them all off.

It would take you ages to stick them all on too, but it would be satisfying."
LMAO............That's Funny Smile Smile Smile
I Agree with DisinterestedParty
You do NOT!! want to damage the car in ANY WAY,
(Or like as someone suggested, "Keying" The Car.)
As much as "you" are tempted or Not. (Anyone)
(Not saying you are tempted)..........LOL Smile Smile
no matter what the people (that parked there) did!
It would never hold up in court!
Best of luck to you, and if you can "Catch" the person, Just talk nicely to them, no matter how upset you might be.
(After all, we do WE Do, "catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar" )..................... Smile Smile Smile .................LOL

One of my friends printed out in massive letters.
I am an arsehole as I have stole this parking place.
Each hour it stayed she added another rude sign.
They were so embarrassed . Shouted and drove off never to return."

LMAO TOO FUNNY!!

FeeLock28 · 21/01/2020 20:36

@SerendipityJane
Stake them out in the open until they expire and their bones are picked free by the crows. It's one of the capital offences in my book

I feel we may be soul-mates ...

@recrudescence
“Do not park here! You shall smart for this!”

Orange boxes at dawn!

LatinMumof2 · 21/01/2020 21:43

One morning I opened the curtains to find a car parked right outside the window on our front grass! Clearly private property in quiet friendly residential cul-de-sac and not even a driveway or dropped kerb, they'd dumped car on my lawn during the night. Sadly by the time I'd thrown on some clothes and sorted 2 very small DC, it had disappeared. Must have been visiting neighbours I guess who realised and got it shifted pdq. I was pretty sleep deprived and did have to look twice that morning! Some people are clueless

Oscarsdaddy · 21/01/2020 22:14

Don’t bother with the note, it’s a BMW and the driver won’t even be able to read as BMW drivers can’t, or they’ve certainly never read up on how indicators work !

Cacaca · 21/01/2020 22:18

@oscarsdaddy Really? Stereotyping much there - of course no BMW drivers are courteous ever Hmm

ThatLibraryMiss · 21/01/2020 22:52

Older MNers will know the note should have read, “Do not park here! You shall smart for this!”

That's it, I'm officially old. I can't remember which album it's from - At the drop of a hat? Or another hat?
