AIBU to stick a massive sign on CF car parked in my space?

I live in a small private estate. We have big signs everywhere saying it's private parking and permits only and an enforcement company that comes round. However this never deters people and they never seem to get caught with a ticket! I have one parking space. Which is numbered. It is clearly NOT a visitors parking space nor a space for random people to park in.

WIBU to print a massive poster sized sign and saying it's not their space and not to park there to put on the car for all to see? Because I currently can't park in my own space and am risking a parking fine myself by not being parked within a marked bay even with a permit. I've had to put a note on my car explaining that a car I don't know is in my space without permission just in case.

Nice work Shodan!

I got blocked into my own parking space once by twats who parked behind me. FOrtunately for me they'd left their handbrake off, so I backed into their car carefully, pushed it out of the way sufficiently, weaselled my car out of the space and then pushed theirs back to roughly where it had been.
Fuck knows what they thought when they came back, but they never did it again!

I haven’t read to the end of the thread so apologies if someone has said this already but you can order very large stickers from amazon, very cheaply, that you stick on the windscreen of offending cars telling them they have parked in a private parking space!!! They are an absolute bitch to remove (although most of them come off with water), and if you stick them right over the driver side windscreen, you’re going to have some very pissed off when they arrive expecting to hop into their car and drive off into the sunset!!! Just put “windscreen stickers” into amazon.

LakieLady · 20/01/2020 15:04

Don't stick anything on the windscreen with "sticky glue". Don't do anything that makes the car unsafe to drive or it could backfire on you.

The best window to stick notices on is the driver's side window. They can drive home perfectly safely, even if they can't get the sign off.

They will be very cold though, because they will have to keep the window open. Grin

@SerendipityJane

The picture says 1.2l diesel on the back of the car.

And electrics don't have exhaust pipes....

DanceItOut · 20/01/2020 15:14

I'm leaving to head home now. I'm torn between wanting them to be gone which would solve the problem but be the most boring parking thread ever or still be there so that husband can block them in with his sprinter van later.

No longer works with electric cars

Pee in the plughole? Grin

Wow, I really wish I had caveated my post now. It would save me feeling a right 'nana ....

Ok so car is gone so all very anticlimactic. Except my neighbour, bless her soul, has been keeping an eye out and saw the lad come back to his car then look around very sheepishly while peeling off the posters which were now also covered in the comments of several other neighbours showing their displeasure at someone parking in our residents car park without permission bless them) and hastily drove away.

So...now I'm a bit bored and have to go back to planning what to make everyone for dinner.

Oh I love that your neighbours joined in and wrote more things! Hope at least one of them took photos of some of the notes! Grin

Hopefully he won't do it again.

Forestwitch · 20/01/2020 15:39

Lol! Love the fact other people have added comments. Hope he never darkens your space again! Grin

BruceAndNosh · 20/01/2020 15:40

I love the fact that your neighbours added comments!

The only time I've left a note on a car, I returned to find the car gone and my note screwed up in its place. So the driver was a CF Parker and a litter lout.

SerendipityJane · 20/01/2020 15:46

So the driver was a CF Parker and a litter lout.

CF parking is a first world problem, really. Words are enough.

Litter ? Hangings too good for them, I say. Stake them out in the open until they expire and their bones are picked free by the crows. It's one of the capital offences in my book.

ineedaholiday11 · 20/01/2020 15:47

Make a note of the parking company number and call them next time. You'd be surprised at how quickly they'll visit to issue a ticket.

I have done this on my little Mews road - the person in question didn't have a permit and used to speed in and out dangerously fast until he was issued with a few tickets!

DanceItOut · 20/01/2020 15:50

Just to add, in case anyone didn't see from a post I made this morning I did ring the parking enforcement company straight away but they said they didn't have anyone free until this afternoon. They are hopefully introducing an app soon so that we can report vehicles and send in photo evidence.

I have allocated parking and came back to find a strange car in it, one of the neighbours said it was a visitor to another neighbor and as there’s was literally nowhere I could park I dumped my car in the car park and went to ask really politely if they could move and explained why. They did move but had a real attitude with me! I then came out later to find that they had left a note on my car complaining about the fact I’d asked them to move!!

MojitoMojitoo · 20/01/2020 15:55

Oh I'm so disappointed!

I've been waiting patiently at work to see what happened haha!

So whats for dinner?

ineedaholiday11 · 20/01/2020 15:55

Sorry just realised that - I'm on the app and it hadn't loaded all the pages! Good luck!

AryaStarkWolf · 20/01/2020 15:59

Is there anyway you can get one of those key locked bollard type things to stop people parking there in future OP or would that not be allowed?

BlackeyedSusan · 20/01/2020 16:02

Embarrassment factor works for most cases.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 20/01/2020 16:10

Get a really sticky sticker and write a message and put it on windscreen. Job done!

DanceItOut · 20/01/2020 16:31

I think I'm going to make some sweet potato wedges and veg curry to use up a bunch of veg that needs using. So nothing fancy.

And no unfortunately the landlord said we aren't allowed a bollard put in even at our own expense.

Last week my neighbour had someone park in their space and threw eggs all over it and when the driver came and knocked on her door she acted surprised like she didn't know there was a car in her space at all (which was firstly impressive acting and secondly slightly plausible because her windows don't overlook her parking space which she showed them to placate them) but she did tell them that round here a lot of people are getting fed up of non residents parking in resident spaces so one of her neighbours probably did it in her defence. I wish I was as bold as her but I'm a rubbish liar so wouldn't have been able to pull it off

Sounds like you have wonderful neighbours OP, better to have cf parking issues than cf neighbours!

AlexDrake1981 · 20/01/2020 16:45

Somebody parked where they shouldn't near where I live, when we had snow, a few years ago. The person whose space was taken, simply wrote 'cunt' in the snow, on the offending car's bonnet. My husband thought it was puerile, I thought it was hilarious & to the point Grin.

Hepsibar · 20/01/2020 16:49

I did this and in fact took it further and chained someone in my space!

MamaWeGotThis · 20/01/2020 16:52

Your neighbours sound great Grin
