AIBU to stick a massive sign on CF car parked in my space?

I live in a small private estate. We have big signs everywhere saying it's private parking and permits only and an enforcement company that comes round. However this never deters people and they never seem to get caught with a ticket! I have one parking space. Which is numbered. It is clearly NOT a visitors parking space nor a space for random people to park in.

WIBU to print a massive poster sized sign and saying it's not their space and not to park there to put on the car for all to see? Because I currently can't park in my own space and am risking a parking fine myself by not being parked within a marked bay even with a permit. I've had to put a note on my car explaining that a car I don't know is in my space without permission just in case.

OP, they will know it's your car if they come back another day and it's parked in your space on that occasion. You don't want to damage their car, however superficially, and then flag to them which your car is by leaving it handily in Bay 8 for the next time they visit [whoever they've come to visit today].

SunshineAngel · 20/01/2020 12:34

This is so rude. I can understand mistakes happen sometimes, but that bay is clearly numbered, therefore not for public use.

Can you not just park behind them, or is there no room to do that? Then leave another notice saying knock at number X when they need the car back. At least then you'll get to see who it was!

MamaWeGotThis · 20/01/2020 12:37

Hope they move it soon

JeffreysWorkTrousers · 20/01/2020 12:41

Serendipity I like your style, I would amend it to say

"it looked like they were trying to steal your car and I was going to ring 101 but then I noticed that you have in fact parked in someone else's space, so I didn't, because clearly you are an arsehole" Grin

So this note would be in addition to the note on the back. I would put the above note on the driver's car window.

BushyPoo · 20/01/2020 12:50

You need something like this. Use it until parking enforcement comes.

@mummmy2017
I love your friend's style - that is hilarious and well deserved to the CFs. I bet they never used her space again. I hope she held on to her signs in case another appeared.

littlepaddypaws · 20/01/2020 13:03

annoying but don't do anything to damage it, you'll be the one in trouble with the law. some people are cf when it comes to parking though.
hope it sorts out for you

DowntownAbby · 20/01/2020 13:04

@BushyPoo wheel clamping by private companies (or individuals) is illegal, parking enforcement company or not.

BushyPoo · 20/01/2020 13:12

@DowntownAbby Oh I didn't know that. What a pity.

SerendipityJane · 20/01/2020 13:20

"it looked like they were trying to steal your car and I was going to ring 101 but then I noticed that you have in fact parked in someone else's space, so I didn't, because clearly you are an arsehole"

Hmm

You can over-egg a pudding.

If you want a little twist - for whatever reasons because you really are that badass

"Dear car driver. Just a note to let you know that when I came out this morning I saw two people who appeared to be messing around with your car. As soon as they saw me they ran off. I did leave details with 101 - here's my number if I can be of any more assistance."

With a bit of luck and a following wind, the CF parker will contact the OP either directly or after a rather confusing chat with 101 Grin - at which point OP has their contact details if needed in future. Although I would be surprised and impressed in equal measures if the CF parked there again.

Somanysocks · 20/01/2020 13:22

But you can clamp your own car and Op could say she thought it was her husband's new car cos, you know, we girls can't tell one black car from another Halo

Somanysocks · 20/01/2020 13:24

Crumbs just reread what I put and it looks racist. Honestly not meant to. Blush

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 20/01/2020 13:24

Oh, please add it there too, youparklikeacunt.com/

AmelieTaylor · 20/01/2020 13:32

Is there cctv? If not just key it

🙄🙄stupid stupid advice.

She could be reported & get herself in an expensive trouble, plus it’s just a nasty thing g to do to a car.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 20/01/2020 13:34

@AmelieTaylor I think it was a joke...

GiantKitten · 20/01/2020 13:51

@Penners99

My sister had a CF park on her drive once. Her DH and me used two trolley Jack's to lift and slide the car to the double yellow lines opposite. Quick call to the parking people resulted in car being towed. Sis denied all knowledge when CF returned THE NEXT DAY!

I love this one Star

Juliette20 · 20/01/2020 13:56

I wouldn't even give them a warning but be onto the parking company straight away to get it towed.

clpsmum · 20/01/2020 13:58

Yes do it I would also block them in completely if at all possible tbh

SoupDragon · 20/01/2020 13:58

I would be tempted to spend the afternoon lovingly handcrafting a fake wheel clamp that looks real enough from a distance to give the CF a panic attack.

Highonpotandused · 20/01/2020 13:59

Can you get one of those orange traffic cones OP to place in your spot OP?

I see people without driveways 'reserve' the space outside of their homes with cones and for some reason, their neighbours challenge it.

Junie70 · 20/01/2020 14:00

Where I work, we have 4 customer spaces across the front of the premises. I tried to pull up this morning into the small space alongside it for my car, and someone had parked literally across all four spaces meaning I couldn't get into mine either.

They came back after a few minutes, and had clearly been to the shop on the corner. I politely told them that the corner shop had its own parking, and as the sign said, this was private parking only for our own customers. The abuse from 2 young women was truly something to behold, and they made a point of actually damaging this sign on their way out. Tw*ats. Their mothers must be so proud Confused

You will never rid the world of selfish idiots OP but you're doing a great job of trying Grin

Shodan · 20/01/2020 14:13

I had someone park in my allocated space once. They knew damn well that it was allocated, because when I parked about two inches from the rear of their car, they came to bang on my door absolutely frothing about how I'd blocked them in.

I told them I'd move my car when I'd finished my lunch, which I did- half an hour later. Meanwhile they spent that time trying to get out- an inch forward, half an inch back, half an inch round etc etc.

'Twas a very satisfactory day. For me Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/01/2020 14:13

Potato up the exhaust pipe . . .

wizzywig · 20/01/2020 14:24

Are those bullet holes by the car reg plate?

SerendipityJane · 20/01/2020 14:30

Potato up the exhaust pipe . . .

No longer works with electric cars (no idea if the one in the pic is or not)
