AIBU to stick a massive sign on CF car parked in my space?

I live in a small private estate. We have big signs everywhere saying it's private parking and permits only and an enforcement company that comes round. However this never deters people and they never seem to get caught with a ticket! I have one parking space. Which is numbered. It is clearly NOT a visitors parking space nor a space for random people to park in.

WIBU to print a massive poster sized sign and saying it's not their space and not to park there to put on the car for all to see? Because I currently can't park in my own space and am risking a parking fine myself by not being parked within a marked bay even with a permit. I've had to put a note on my car explaining that a car I don't know is in my space without permission just in case.

AIBU to stick a massive sign on CF car parked in my space?

@GiveHerHellFromUs it's mine, I own it

ilovepixie · 20/01/2020 11:28

Could you phone the enforcement company and get it towed away?

LagunaBubbles · 20/01/2020 11:30

I hate people like this that are so arrogant and selfish they tbink they can do what they like!

JorisBonson · 20/01/2020 11:36

You should get yourself one of those metal pole things that you can instal so that when you're not parked up no one else can get in your space..

Spam above reported.

Good note, OP! Cheeky bastard. Ketchup on the windscreen!

FatherRabulaConundrum · 20/01/2020 11:44

Although lovely irony of someone parking their 'please fill in my survey' request in the wrong place, blocking in responses to the OP.

My sister had a CF park on her drive once. Her DH and me used two trolley Jack's to lift and slide the car to the double yellow lines opposite. Quick call to the parking people resulted in car being towed. Sis denied all knowledge when CF returned THE NEXT DAY!

At a previous house we would often find a car parked in front of our drive .Husband one night jacked it up and moved it ....unfortunately he jacked it up under the fuel tank the driver probably found he had to fill the car more often afterwards... he nevet blocked our drive again

Hingeandbracket · 20/01/2020 11:45

Shocked and amazed the offending CF car is a BMW - who'd have thunk it?

81Byerley · 20/01/2020 11:49

@pelirocco123 Brilliant!

DanceItOut · 20/01/2020 11:51

Well it's still there and I now have to leave. They wouldn't know which car is mine because it's now parked in a neighbours space who kindly let me park in theirs as I can't park in mine. I stuck another note on the side window before I left. They probably won't care but it makes their getaway a bit slower. This one is even bigger so people driving or walking past it can also read it. Now that isn't nearly afternoon I'm hoping parking enforcement will be able to come out and catch them. Fingers crossed. I didn't set the alarm off though I was tempted. I will update on whether or not it is still there or gone when I get back home

Are you near bus or trains? They might have parked and pissed off to work
Does that tend to happen?

Glue it to their windscreen!

Popc0rn · 20/01/2020 11:59

I have just moved to a place with allocated parking and have this problem too, so annoying when I get home from work and have find a visitor space to park in. Thinking of investing in a traffic cone to leave in the middle of my space to deter people from parking there.

Has anyone ever actually bought one of those metal parking posts? Are they expensive/do they need fitting into the ground? I'm renting atm so can't do anything too permanent.

This is pure genius!!!!

DisinterestedParty · 20/01/2020 12:07

I'd be tempted to get a load of post it notes and stick them all over the car, spelling out a message. Doesn't do any damage, unlike glue, but will take them ages to peel them all off.

It would take you ages to stick them all on too, but it would be satisfying.

Not all CFs drive nice cars. I have a reserved parking which I pay handsomely for and this shitty car has been parking there for days. And the woman driving it looks rough as hell.

mummmy2017 · 20/01/2020 12:23

One of my friends printed out in massive letters.
I am an arsehole as I have stole this parking place.
Each hour it stayed she added another rude sign.
They were so embarrassed . Shouted and drove off never to return.

KitKat1985 · 20/01/2020 12:25

Right will be checking later for updates. What a cheeky bugger.

fedup21 · 20/01/2020 12:27

Alternatively, dial back the nastiness, and change the notice.

"Dear car driver. Just a note to let you know that when I came out this morning I saw two people who appeared to be messing around with your car. As soon as they saw me they ran off. I contacted 101 but wanted you to know in case they had done something to your car. Have a nice day".

(To answer the question people are asking ... Yes, I am Grin)
