That is a wonderful house. I dream of a period property like that but then I think of the possible maintenance issues. Our house is a tiny boxy 1930's semi in greater London and would prob sell for a lot more than 500k. We're stuck here for the foreseeable due to teenage kids and ageing parents. One day we will escape!

ThanosSavedMe · 19/01/2020 21:53

Wow! What are you waiting for?!

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 19/01/2020 21:53

Not my cup of tea as I really don't like timber ceiling beams but if it's just what you want and under budget then go for it.

Bloodless · 19/01/2020 21:54

It’s gorgeous! 😁

katee90 · 19/01/2020 21:55

Wow that house is gorgeous. Though I must admit I would worry somewhat about maintenance costs. Are you going to view it?

Namey32 · 19/01/2020 21:56

Gorgeous, do it! It fits your criteria, why the hesitation??

MummyFriend · 19/01/2020 21:56

I had to look at the price several times to make sure I was reading it correctly. I have all of the envy! Where I live that house would be four times that price. Wow. Go for it, OP. If it were me I'd be putting in an offer first thing in the morning! Grin

Cherrysoup · 19/01/2020 21:59

Where I live it’s four times that price too! It would be a retirement home, we are some way off that! The only thing it lacks is a few acres for a couple of ponies.

That is a beautiful house. I don’t know the area but seems cheap too - it must be quite rural? Wouldn’t be big enough for us at the mo but the kind of house I’d like to live in when the kids have flown the coop!

georgialondon · 19/01/2020 22:03

I can't be doing with beams. It brings the walls in for me. But yes as a Londoner it's amazing to see how cheap it is!

puds11 · 19/01/2020 22:05

I’m drooling. That is my idea of heaven!

MaJoady · 19/01/2020 22:10

@Fanniesyeraunt yes, very rural. Gorgeous part of the world though, well worth a visit. The village sits on the black and white trail, where the villages are full of buildings like that. Eardisland is one of the more beautiful villages though.

If OP keeps looking, i'm sure they will find one with a few acres!

Corneysjazzband · 19/01/2020 22:14

That is absolutely beautiful. Over our budget but I would live there in a heartbeat. Although I do love the house I live in now.

Ellapaella · 19/01/2020 22:14

Beautiful house. My dream home.

Cherrysoup · 19/01/2020 22:15

There are loads with acres. This one has 5 acres, House is a bit massive for just two, we’d be looking to make an income, so we’d probably divide it to have a self contained annexe/Airbnb (couldn’t face B&B!) www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-86004128.html

This one has just over 2 acres, bit tight for two horses, but doable. www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-54986842.html

ThanosSavedMe · 19/01/2020 22:21

1st ones the best

MummyFriend · 19/01/2020 22:26

2 and 3 are nowhere near as nice, though I love the gardens at the third property!

Is there any land near the first property that you could rent?

Cherrysoup · 19/01/2020 22:27

@Mummyfriend I’d want the horse at home (if I still have horses by then!)

OP posts:
Emmelina · 19/01/2020 22:27

That. Is. Beautiful.

I would worry about maintenance costs and the cost of heating it to be honest, but wow!

ioioitsoff · 19/01/2020 22:32

I drive past that house every day OP.

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 19/01/2020 22:35

Gorgeous OP!! What are you waiting for!?!

GraceVanPelt · 19/01/2020 22:40

OP I live a couple of villages away, moved here about 2 years ago. Eardisland is lovely, couple of pubs one of which in particular is fabulous. People here are friendly and helpful and I love it here. Come and join us Smile

CustardySergeant · 19/01/2020 22:41

I love the property and I love where it is.

BrickTop999 · 19/01/2020 22:41

On the market for 9 months and not sold - looks lovely but not selling would make me edgy

user1473878824 · 19/01/2020 22:42

BUUUUUUUUUY IT!!!!!! runs in circles
