I was insulted today and told I look much older than I am. Could I ask you to tell me how old you think?

But seriously, don't we all know why we don't routinely see men acting this way? My DH isn't on a thread full of men putting up photos of themselves filtered to fuck and asking people to guess their age.

And we know why women not men do this kind of thing, because of fucking sexist stereotyping that judges women on our appearances and our age, let's not encourage ourselves to be complicit in this! This is why women "let themselves go/become mutton" yet "men become silver foxes"

If people think she looks in her mid to late 50s, (or older,) then they are entitled to say that. The OP did ASK people to guess her age, and people are doing that.

@74NewStreet @skiptheskip yes, definitely body dysmorphia and she's a perfectly nice looking, lovely girl in real life too. You just would never connect her to her many profile shots on the various SM sites. There seems to be an awful lot more pressure to look a certain way these days, and some are more susceptible to it.

But then we 40 and 50 somethings have numerous threads asking random strangers to guess their age .... 😀

This thread is bonkers. Lots of us have happily put a photo up for the fun of it, yet people who haven't put one up, haven't been asked to do so and haven't been criticised for not doing, are outraged.

Why do you (general you) care? If you think we are displaying internalized misogyny, then every good feminist knows that you blame the patriarchy for that, rather than the women themselves.

Most people look their age or a few years either way. All this "I'm 94 but still get asked for ID tee hee!" is nonsense. I havent seen a single person in this thread who looks 10 years younger than they are. Thats not being mean either, there is NOTHING wrong with looking the age you are FGS.
Of course anyone who guesses correctly is instantly "mean" and anyone who says "are you 12?" is instantly kind hearted

^^ this, totally this. I have never been shocked/surprised by anyone’s age (except maybe Toni Basil, but she does actually look her age, just moves and dresses the same as she did in 1981, so was a little taken aback. She looks fantastic)

Agreed. I know quite a few people who insist they look 10-15 years younger and they just dont. They look their age. But I just smile and because they seem utterly convinced about it and I dont like to burst their bubble.

I think most people look within at least 5 years of their age, either direction.

OP for an honest answer - looking at your eyes, they look late 30's but your skin makes you look much older than you are.

@MimiLaRue although what your saying can be true (about people thinking that they look 10-15 years younger) then there is always that one person that does think that someone is indeed 10-15 years younger, I have been asked for identification at age 35 (this was the last time I was) to buy cigarettes as if the shop assistant didn’t think you looked 25 then they had to ask you so it’s not impossible that people would start thinking this if it was said to them.
